Imagine on New Year's Eve, at 11:45, a mother was waiting for her son to come home to celebrate when the clock strikes 12. Knock! Knock! When the mother surprisingly the door, the police officer declared that her son died when he caused a collision while driving with his cellphone, texting his girlfriend. She swooned to the ground, thinking last year was the last New Year, she spent with her son. Everyday, people persistently using technology but not having the knowledge of how they will impact their lives. There are three reasons people are distracted by technology, such as they cause accidents while driving, technological distractions can negatively impact students academically, and it negatively affect family relationships. To begin with, people are distracted by technology because using cellphones can get the driver's eyes off the road and lead to an accident. According to Livescience, it states, “ A new study confirms that reaction time of cell phone users slow dramatically, increasing the risk of accidents and tying up traffic in general.” This statement shows that every time driver stared at their cell phone, they are not paying attention to the road. On www.educate.negativeaffect.com , it states, “ The number only increases as children age, with 95% of teens 12-17, spending time online… it changes the way their brain work.” The article evidently proven that teens are negatively altered by electronic devices, such as video games because it tooks students’ focus away from their school assignments. During school, students are tempted to use their phones, texting friends instead of heeding to the teacher's instructions.
