Millions of people around the world play sports. Many of these sports are competitive and involve teamwork. For example, baseball involves more than one person to win a game. Baseball is one of the hardest sports to play because every player on a team has to do their job when playing a position. Baseball players possess skills such as athleticism, mental awareness, and teamwork. To play baseball, it helps if players are athletic. Almost the whole game of baseball involves hand-eye coordination. When it comes to hitting, catching, and fielding the ball. As it was once said by the great Yogi Berra, “Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical.” Whether they are out on the field or up to bat, they always need to know the situation in the game. When playing out on the field every player needs to think about where they are going to go with the ball if it gets hit to them. Even if there is a weak hitter up to bat, outfielders still have to be ready for anything. Also, players need to know how many outs there are and what bases runners are on so that if the ball does get hit to them they know what to do. The same things apply on the offensive side of the ball too, hitting and baserunning. When a player is up to bat there they should be aware of how many outs there are, what bases runners are on, where the defense is playing, and even what pitches the pitcher throws. Then when one is on base almost the same things apply except for a few little things. Always pay attention when on a base, because the pitcher can pick a player off at any time when they are taking a lead. Another thing players need to pay attention to is when taking a lead they always have to watch for a defensive player coming up behind them so they know to take a shorter lead and be careful of getting picked off the base.
