Ever justified to cheat?
Our upbringing, values, and morals that are instilled by our parents helps us determine right from wrong. However, ultimately as we grow older we are held accountable for our own decisions. We are the one who choose what path we want our lives to take. We either choose to make honest or dishonest decisions. According to the Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary cheating means to use “dishonest methods to gain an advantage” (2010. p.93). Why is cheating wrong? Many people ask this question. The answer is in the eye of the beholder. There are many interpretations of this question. Many also might ask is there a time when cheating is justified? Some feel that cheating can be good and their actions are justified. On the other hand many feel that cheating is dishonest. As we think about this topic let’s stop and think have we ever cheated? Well ordinarily we don't want or have to talk about whether we have ever cheated or not. But have you ever looked over your neighbor's shoulder as you are taking a test? Or have you ever asked someone for the answer to a question because you fear you will fail the class. We feel we can justify our actions and they are condoned because we were too busy to study. Maybe we tell ourselves that it is the instructor’s fault that we need to cheat because they did not teach the course suitably. We try to think of good reasons to justify our actions. For instance, in sports if you do not work hard enough you will not be prepared. This could lead to you not getting the position you want. You may feel that by taking illegal narcotics you will be better prepared to play the sport. But in reality the only person you are harming is yourself. Therefore, if you cheat you are only cheating
