Abby Moser Mrs. Hunter Old Testament 9-6 29 September 2015 Abigail Abigail is an important character in the Bible because God used her helping heart and she was beautiful inside and out. Her story teaches me to be graceful and sensible. Abigail handled this situation with intelligence and respect. She saw what needed to be done and did it. When a terrible situation happens I shouldn't freak out, I should be quick to figure out what's best for everyone around me. I should also not only look out for my own interests but look out for others as they might be blindsided by their self like Abigail did to Nabal. The messengers greeted Nabal but he screamed insults at them. A servant told Abigail what had happened. Abigail was appalled, she quickly threw some food and wine together and gave it to the servant. She left soon after to speak to David. Even though she knew her husband was doing something wrong she went on his behalf and begged for forgiveness even if he wasn't sorry. "Abigail, a wise and beautiful woman, herself brought provisions to David and his men persuading him not to take vengeance on her husband" ("Abigail"). When she got back her husband was throwing a party so she waited to tell him what she did. When she told him he had a stroke and died. She didn't go behind his back and eventually told him the truth. A verse that sums up Abigail's story is 1 Samuel‬ ‭25:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬ “Abigail acted quickly. She took two hundred loaves of bread, two skins of wine, five dressed sheep, five seahs of roasted grain, a hundred cakes of raisins and two hundred cakes of pressed figs, and loaded them on donkeys." This is because when Abigail saw someone needed help she quickly gathered up everything and went out to help which demonstrates a helping heart.
