To my parents, it was no surprise when I told them that I wanted to be an Occupational Therapist. Even from the young age of two, I was always playing the role of a doctor, veterinarian, or nurse. Healthcare has always held a special grip on my heart because it has greatly affected many of my family members. I look up to these healthcare providers as superheroes because they are always there to provide quality care and get their patients back to take on the world. I have always been the one that if I want something, I am determined to achieve it and nothing will hold me back. I am excited and driven to find all the educational resources needed for me to reach my dream of being an Occupational Therapist. His teaching insights have allowed me to develop my public speaking and writing skills since many career paths require having good, clear speaking and writing skills at a professional level. Having these two educators in my family helped me push myself to take my work and classes seriously so I could succeed. Schooling was never something I could take lightly because I would never get that “A” without having to study or put in the effort. This helped build my work ethic because whenever I would get a superior score on an assignment or exam, it would naturally make me smile from ear to ear knowing I truly earned that grade. I started shadowing Occupational Therapists in middle school because I was certain this was the field for me. Each new opportunity that arose for me to shadow a new Occupational Therapist made me excited to see the different roles that different therapists have.
