Why I Want My Major Essay

Choosing my major included a lot of different series of events in my life, experiences and variety idealistic reasons. I feel like everyone has a different story behind their major, that is their own unique reason why they feel like this is the major for them. I also have my own story, that others can relate to and differ to. My major is nursing, and this is not what I always wanted to do for the rest of my life. Always when I was younger, I always told myself I wanted to do something in the medical field. First from a doctor, to a vet and then to a nurse, my opinions rapidly changed throughout the years. Opinions change, and as I have experienced new things, my ideals have changed. As a 19 year old in college, I have now chosen nursing and there is no turning back now; this is what I will do for the rest of my life. I always felt like in my life I wanted to do something to make a difference in someone’s life; whether it was physical, emotional or even psychological. I also always wanted to work in a flexible field that is interchangeable in the ways you can go with the career path. This is why I felt like nursing was perfect for me; you make a difference in people’s lives every day by treating them, healing them and being their primary caregiver during their stay in the hospital. You can always go in a different track in nursing including; pediatrics, neonatal, geriatrics, ICU, ER, cardiac, labor and delivery, etc. I feel like I would never get bored in this career since there will always be something new every day if it is either a; disease, a new patient or even a new protocol in the hospital.
