I am certain that everyone, whether you were born in America or migrated here, have dreams. To the rest of the world, America represents that church on the hill. People from all over the world come to this country to have their dreams become a reality. You can ask any immigrant, “why you came to America?” and they might tell you, “Because this is the land of opportunities”. And that it is, and more. America is also a country that provides salvation to dreams, passion and talent, simply a place where all the fantasies transform into reality. No matter how big the dream might be or how impossible it might seem it can be accomplished. However, that is, only if you are willing to make the necessary sacrifices to meet that dream. Just like everyone in the United States, I too had a dream but my dream was to have an acceptable education, and a noble job, marry somebody, make a lot of children and wait for the lord to take me. Going to college was once a part of my dream but the circumstances I was in made it seem impossible. However, my circumstances had changed by the end of 2010. I had migrated to the United States and got a job one month after. While living in Guyana I knew exactly how my life would have played out, after arriving in America I knew that my life story was no longer limited to what I had imagined and that this change in events was just another chapter. Before I left Guyana I had wanted to pursue a career in engineer, it did not matter what kind of engineer, all that matter was the prestige and money I would have made if I had finished my studies. So with little knowledge and guidance on what I would have gotten myself into, I attended Bronx Community College in fall 2011 and enrolled as an Engineering Science major. As shameful as it was to admit, it took me three semesters to admit that physics was not my strong
