The Burnett River is a very important resource for Bundaberg. We use it for agriculture, industry, transport and more. Without the Burnett River we would not have as many crops and industries. Bundaberg is well known for sugarcane and the most of the sugarcane is watered with the fresh water from the Burnett River. This River was named after surveyor James Charles Burnett, who founded it in 1847. Its chief tributaries are the Auburn and Boyane Rivers. The first people to use the Burnett river were the Garrrabgarng tribe which was a aboriginal tribe who owned the land there. So lets see why we need the Burnett River in Bundaberg.
Firstly, agriculture is very important in Bundaberg. Many years ago, in the 19th century, we grew timber forests and sugarcane, which we watered with the fresh water from the Burnett River. This was the start of Bundaberg’s agriculture. Now days, we grow sugarcane, macadamia nuts, tomatoes and more. The water is irrigated out of the river and sprayed or trickled onto crops. We need the Burnett River for this reason as our crops could not survive without it! Agriculture is very important for Bundaberg as it is one of our main economic resources. We earn money from it when we trade it with other places in the world. Agriculture is one of the main things we use the Burnett River for.

We fish farm, row, ski and more in the Burnett River. Rowing is a very important sport for Bundaberg and we have one of the oldest sporting clubs in Queensland. We need our River to row. People who row internationally, such as Tessa Carty, need the River to train. Do you think we would have these amazing rowers without the river? Another leisure activity we use the river for skiing. Places such as the Sandy Hook Ski Club, which is on the fresh water side of the barrage on the Burnett River, could not function without the river. This is just another reason we need our Burnett
Sedimentary rock from the older Silurian Period is further from the river banks (Geological map of Victoria, 1973). Mudstone, inter-bedded shale and greywacke depositions indicate the Maribyrnong River may have previously taken a different shape, and younger sediments have replaced the older sediments in more recent geological periods.
Agriculture plays an enormous part in having a functioning society. The farming fields in the

The biggest factor impacting Rural Australia has been the changes to the economic viability of primary production, one of the largest sources of income for Australia (Australian Government, 2008), affected by globalization, deregulation, privatisation and reduction/withdrawal of services, rising production costs, and ever present unpredictable environmental conditions (Australian Catholic Social Welfare Commission Secretariat, 2000).

“I love the river. I've never used the river for anything other than rowing and there’s no better place to row than the Charles,” said Candace Saunders, a Northeastern University sociology major and former member of the women’s crew team, “I don't think that the Charles is clean at all, but this is also just because of what I've heard. It's supposedly getting better. I could say that there are worse rivers though.”
I was raised in Jacksonville, Florida; “the river city” as most natives call it. As stated by the St. Johns River Water Management Disctrict the city has this nickname because it is home to the largest river in Florida, the St. Johns. The St. Johns is also one of the two rivers in the United States that flows north (2013). Since I was surrounded by it my whole life, activities involving water were very common. One of my family’s favorite things to do is have a fishing tournament for Easter on my grandparents’ dock on the St. Johns River.
People have been drawn to the big and beautiful Columbia River Basin for thousands of years. During the last century, natural resource-based industries supported small, growing communities. Today, people still appreciate the basin's rural flavor and quality of life.
Farming was extremely important because less and less people were growing their own food. Urbanization meant that food production in rural areas was integral to the economy. It wasn't long before agriculture was industrialized, allowing for a huge population growth. This made the work monumentally simpler, and rather than having dozens of farmhands for a few acres, a farmer could use the same number of men for hundreds of acres of farmland. This meant that urban population grew and grew, while rural population only shrank. Heads turned from agriculture and artisanry to factories. For the first time in history, agriculture was no longer the main focus of the
Rivers have been extremely important to the history of the world. They have shaped mountains, valleys, and even cultures. Rivers are extremely important to the individuals who live in the areas around them. Native Americans, colonists, and us today use rivers in some way or another. And one of the biggest rivers in American history is of course the Mississippi River. At 2,340 miles long the Mississippi river is the second longest river in the United States. It flows through 10 states - Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, and, of course, Mississippi. At the end it empties into the Gulf of Mexico.
As can be seen from the map (Figure 5), the Maribyrnong Rivers begins when the two major tributaries- Deep Creek and Jackson’s creek merge together, and then the river go through the Brimbank Park, downstream flows through suburban Melbourne before joining the Yarra River estuary on its way out to Port Phillip Bay. Therefore, because of the hydrology, there is erosion can be found in the Site 2 area.

The Franklin River is located in the South West of Tasmania. In the early 1980’s, the Franklin river became widely known, because of the Hydroelectric scheme, to dam the river. A wild debate arose, between the Tasmanian Government and The Wilderness Society and the Society Movement, to save the franklin river and its forestry, or to dam the river and supply electricity for all of the Tasmanians, whilst also keeping electricity running when the power shortage would occur in ten years. The Hydro team already had dammed 40 rivers by the 1970’s, the Wilderness society was not prepared to make it 41. Throughout the several tiring months of debate, the opposing teams created some immediate and compelling cases which i am entitled to explore. However both teams cases seem extremely persuasive and well executed, the national question at that time was, should we dam the Franklin river?
So overall, Agriculture is playing a very important role in changing the lifestyle of different people. Agriculture might have made everything easy for us but it still has its cons. We see the effects of agriculture and how it affects the lives of other species and the environment.
To understand why is agriculture important in the world of today, then first of all we must know what agriculture is? Agriculture is the basic material production of society, the use of land for agriculture and livestock, mining plants and animals as raw materials and labor to produce mainly food and some raw materials for industry. Agriculture is a major industry, covering many disciplines: planting, breeding and processing of agricultural products; in the broadest sense, also including forestry and fisheries. Agriculture is an important economic sector in the economy of many countries, especially in the past century , when the industry has not yet developed. Since the dawn of history, agriculture has been one of the importance means of producing
