The conflict between nations or societies is usually called war. It is a very powerful way of either building or destructing nations. When war is absent in the world, it is safe to claim that the world is at peace. However, it is the extreme aggression and use of military forces, which are the characteristics of war that shatters that world peace. The reason of going to war is that there is no peace, and the quick consequence of going to war, is, obviously, not peace. However, it can be said that war is frequently important to make enduring peace and strength. The great wars like WW1 and WW2. A reasonable example of this is WWII that led to peace; nevertheless, the wars caused a great distraction and ruined almost everything in Asia and Europe, …show more content…
There were several main reasons behind WWI. Manipulating more lands or countries with the intention of getting more natural resources promoted the Great War. However, there were also reasons that prevented building peace after the war. The unpleasant and strict agreements that were made and imposed on the defeated countries resulted in more incompatibilities. At that time in 1918, the president of United States, Woodrow Wilson, outlined a statement of principles, which is known as Fourteen Points with the purpose of negotiating peace and bring the war to an end. The purpose of these principles was to guarantee peace after that brutal war as people feared the continuity of the war or occurring another violent war. To explain the points, some of them was concentrating on having plans to prevent war and establishing peace. In addition, around eight of the principles were focusing on self-determination which the agreements and policies of determining own territories by the countries. In his last points, he purposed the League of Nations. As it is described in the statement that it is "“A general association of nations must be formed under specific covenants for the purpose of affording mutual guarantees of political independence and territorial integrity to great and …show more content…
The crisis, the Great Depression followed by WWI made increasing taxes. In consequence, it made economy unstable. . What made the treaty unsuccessful was that Germany had to accept everything that was
As a consequence of the war, the Allies created the United Nations, an organization for international cooperation and diplomacy, similar to the League of Nations. Members of the United Nations agreed to outlaw wars of aggression in an attempt to avoid a third world war.
As WWI was not ended with peace, it brought even greater and more disastrous war, which was WWII. Even though this war was more destructive, but this war brought peace because there were effective agreements, organizations, plans to prevent occurring another war and build peace.
Treaty of Versailles, instead of bringing peace to the world, it led to confronting another greater war. As in WWII, a ‘non-aggression’ agreement, which is known as Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, was made between Joseph Stalin, the first general secretary of Soviet Union, and Adolf Hitler, the leader of Nazi Party. It was important for these two powers to be allies and a stepping towards peace, despite the fact that the allies was was broken by
History is full of people fighting against one another and going to war for all types of different reasons. For the most part countries go to war to either protect their way of life, or for a better way of living. We want to preserve certain aspects of life like our rights, as well as helping others gain or maintain them, we also want to be able to prosper as a country. When one or some of these things are threatened a country will go to war. Some wars that fallow this trend include the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II and the Vietnam War. Besides protecting or bettering life, war can also make or break a countries economy.
In conclusion, although the treaty of versailles was made in world war 1 but, it was a huge cause of world war 2. This is why world war 2 was caused by the treaty, because the Germans were punished in 4 key ways. One is territorial losses, two is proving that Germany is weak, third making them pay, and the last one is wanting to destroy the treaty. This is why it was such a big cause of world war
There were many causes to WW1, the main causes were Militarism, Imperialism, and Alliances. Militarism was a leading cause to WW1 because the military wanted to get better weapons, to have more security and that made other countries jealous.Imperialism was another cause to WW1 because countries wanted to increase their colonies, Army and to do that they needed to take control of other countries.Alliances were a leading cause to WW1 because countries were blaming each other and that created a lot of tension between them, the war
The Treaty of Versailles, initially created to keep peace in Europe and ensure that another war like World War I wouldn’t happen again, had in fact, backfired and spiraled the world down into a deeper, bloodier battle. The treaty discriminated strongly against Germany, with the loss of territories, military restrictions, economic reparations, and the War Guilt Clause. It caused humiliation and anger within Germany, and led to Hitler and the Nazi Party coming to power. World War II was not only started by Adolf Hitler and Germany, but had a lot to do with the humiliation that Germany felt when the terms for the Treaty of Versailles were laid down. The harsh terms of the Treaty of Versailles may be indirectly related to the cause of World War II, but nonetheless was a huge factor in starting the war.
The Treaty of Versailles officially ended the war between Germany and the Allies (England, France and the US) on 28th June 1919. While the delegates of the victorious countries should have been concerned with the prospects of future peace in Europe, they instead focused solely on making Germany as weak as possible. Graebner and Bennett (2011) argue that “the democratic powers at Versailles had the opportunity in 1919 to set an aggrieved Germany, one that scarcely resembled Hitler’s, on a different course.” They of course failed. The Treaty of Versailles was the main cause for the rise of Fascism in Germany after the war. Ashley Grimshaw (2008) claims
The most important cause of World War I was militarism due how countries wanted to flourish with power on their own. Militarism is defined as a policy of military preparation; having more armed forces and more weapons. In the time leading up to WWI, countries had been competing over who would have more military power, this lead to there being a lot of tension building up as rivalries got more and more serious taking drastic measures to increase their military. For example, as Germany built a big army, France would also want a military of grand size, and kept building up. The fact that countries had been building up their militaries but still having to compete for power led to feelings of stress of those in charge due to not having the outcome turn
there are different reason that lead to war. the war could be between different countries such as world war I, World War II, and Vietnam war. Also, the war could happen within one country such as the Civil War; however, the results of these different wars are all almost the same; the war effects the people of the countries on war and the soldiers who fight for these wars. however, many people wonder if these effects disappear by the end of the war or if there are other effect on these people after the end of the war. many people believe that the war has impact the lives of the soldiers who were at this war and their lives are no longer the same as the one before they were soldiers fighting for their countries.
War is never a one sided conflict. Between 1914 and 1918, a war that most people thought would last only a few months erupted across Europe and killed over seventeen million people. The Treaty of Versailles was essentially the document that ended the bloody war. It was written by the victorious Allies who attempted with the document to end all wars permanently. However, its requirements and stipulations placed virtually all responsibility for the “Great War” on Germany. Unfortunately as a result, within twenty years, World War II began and lasted for six years longer than World War I and was even more deadly. The Treaty of Versailles helped to cause World
On November 11, 1918 World War 1 ended. The President of the USA at the time Woodrow Wilson had made a document called the 14 points. The 14 points were made to promote peace and make World War 1 the war to end all wars. The 14 points are all about making countries independent and shrinking everyone's armies and the League of Nations would be formed. Wilson was putting everyone's national interest above his.
The Treaty of Versailles was one of the factors that led to the inevitability of World War Two. The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty that occurred as a result of the Paris Peace Conference that was held after Germany was defeated in World War One. The Treaty was put into action and required that Germany should accept responsibility for the war; of course Germany was humiliated by this. They were required to pay colossal war reparation payments. This was one of the main reasons the treaty had a severe impact on Germany; it crippled the German economy and critically reduced the living standards of the people. This made it virtually impossible for the German economy to function productively. The effects that the treaty had on Germany directly led to the rise of Hitler who he capitalised on German resentment at their treatment. He provided a focus for the German people and their desire to take back what they once had, and to restore their pride once again becoming a glorious nation.
To begin with, the Treaty of Versailles caused World War 2. The Treaty of Versailles was put in place to punish Germany for starting the war and to stop them from starting another one. A new organisation was created called ‘The League of Nations’ to try and create world peace. Germany had to pay back huge amounts of money to other countries, which amounted up to about 6000 million Euros (History, 2015). This left their economy really low, the people starving and the government all mixed up (Ducksters, Feb 2016). Germany
War is a mean to achieve a political goal.it is merely the continuation of policy in a violent form. “War is not merely an act of policy, but a true political instrument....” Moreover, the intensity of war will vary with the nature of political motives. This relationship makes war a rational act rather than a primitive and instinctive action, where war uses coercion to achieve political goals instead of use it only for destruction, and it cannot be separated from each other even after the war has started, when each side is allowed to execute its requisite responsibilities while remaining flexible enough to adapt to emerging
Every day we are surrounded by stories of war. In fact, we have become so accustomed to it, that we are now entertained by it. Video games, movies, and books filled with heroes who once dominated the battlefields. However it is constantly stated, “no good comes from war.” Even famous songs state “war... what is it good for… absolutely nothing.” But what if war was actually necessary? Throughout history, we see examples of the good things wars have brought. War has freed slaves, modernized medicine, brought down evil empires, and even brought countries together
The lives and prosperity of millions of people depend on peace and, in turn, peace depends on treaties - fragile documents that must do more than end wars. Negotiations and peace treaties may lead to decades of cooperation during which disputes between nations are resolved without military action and economic cost, or may prolong or even intensify the grievances which provoked conflict in the first place. In 1996, as Canada and the United States celebrated their mutual boundary as the longest undefended border in the world, Greece and Turkey nearly came to blows over a rocky island so small it scarcely had space for a flagpole.1 Both territorial questions had been raised as issues in peace treaties. The Treaty of Ghent in 1815 set the framework for the resolution of Canadian-American territorial questions. The Treaty of Sevres in 1920, between the Sultan and the victorious Allies of World War I, dismantled the remnants of the Ottoman Empire and distributed its territories. Examination of the terms and consequences of the two treaties clearly establishes that a successful treaty must provide more than the absence of war.
War has been around for centuries. From the time modern civilizations began, war has played an integral part in human history. It shaped the world into the modern world we live in. War has been said to be a great motivator, for example, the Great Wall of China was built to fend off the attackers from the north. However, the negative aspects of war far outweighs any positive effects it might have. The destruction of civilizations, cities and countries, mass killings of men, woman and children alike, the disastrous effect it has on economy and the after effects of war can last for centuries.
