Education in today’s society has become an necessity, students are more focused on their academic to get better grades. Trying to become financial stable been a big problem nationwide. “ Many parents, teachers, students, and people wonder should college education be free or granted.”( Helen) From my point of view, college education should be free and paid for by the U.S. government. If this was taking care of by the government, us as students can focus more on our studies and will allow us to work harder in school. Education is something everyone look up too, but not everyone can follow their dreams because of financial problems. College education should be free to all U.S. citizens. Finishing high school is something everyone should take …show more content…
Studying is something that you have to do in college, without studying you will fail your classes. Working to pay off your balance is something students should not have to while in college. This is another reason why college education should be free, working to support your dreams will be an burden on you. “If free college tuition was given, students would have more time to educate themselves, plus be well rested instead of being tired from time consuming jobs. They wouldn’t have to worry about money or time at all.”(Helen) That will leave us with time to make sure we are prepared for the next day. Working an job to pay off your account balance takes away time from you doing what is more important for you education. “ There has been the issue in the past that due to free college education some students have taken their right to education lightly and opted for college as an easy option rather than go to work or consider worked based training.”( …show more content…
Working so that they can have a much brighter future to find their own career path. “The cost of attending college us high and continues to rise without indications of decreasing. The rising cost had mane benefits such as earning more pay, but it also had its disadvantages such as the debt that is accumulated from student loans.”(“ Argument Essay On College Tuition”) Not everyone family is wealthy enough to drop thousand or even hundreds of dollars to a school. With that being said there should be more scholarships and financial aid opportunities if college education cannot be
While most people want college to be free, the U.S. should not make tuition free for all citizens. There are a number of reasons like taxing families who already have it hard, quality in education, rationing, and if people see that they do not have to pay it may lower the value in which they won 't take school seriously. Tuition free college is impossible because at the end of the day someone will have to pay for all those students attending. For example, “In college I was invested, I was paying,” The former student said, “Once it entails a cost, it’s not easy to just say, Oh, let’s not go to class today. You’re just hurting yourself” (qtd, in Make College Affordable, but Not Free). Student who barely made it
According to Trade Schools, Colleges and Universities “Many of America's top-performing high school students never apply to the most challenging colleges and universities even though they have the ability to succeed at them. They often come from minority and low-income households and end up pursuing more affordable, less-selective schools instead.” College can be a burden to many students in a variety of different ways, but the most common reason is due to funds. Making college free for students will help this problem by increasing jobs in the work industry that require degrees, they should be affordable to all people at all cost, as well as the funds should be completely cut off because it would increase jobs and help America's economy grow.
The idea of freedom and equal opportunity that America was built on has sadly been lost and replaced with a system of quality education only being accessible by the wealthy. In-state college tuition should be free for all students meeting admission requirements, allowing students from the full spectrum of economic backgrounds to have the same opportunity to receive the same education. The incidence of poverty in the U.S. is directly linked to educational level. When a college degree is earned, income levels rise (College Board). The best use of federal government anti-poverty funds is not another welfare or assistance program; it is to make college education affordable for everyone.
There is no doubt that college is expensive, price tags for some universities go over a quarter of a million for just a bachelors degree! (That’s if you graduate in four too). The extravagant price for college is no doubt crazy. Trying to better yourself and your future shouldn’t cost $250,000 plus. If public universities were to be free a plethora of problems could be solved instantly. According to Forbes the National student loan debt has surpassed 1.2 trillion dollars (Denhart )! This number is growing exponentially as more students enroll in to college. Why question then whether college should be free? Well, this number is the total amount of student loan debt from all students that have exited college. Some of these students are freshly graduated while some are aged with the wisdom trying to pay their loans back. If public universities were to be free and funded by our federal government, our government would pay this amount within ten years. Relatively a short amount of time considering that the student loan debt is an accumulation debt from students that have graduated more than ten year ago, also this also greatly increase with the following years as well.
Over the past years of getting a college degree was the pathway to get a settle career. College has been a reason for people to carry on after high school. Now that tuition has been raised, getting a degree seems to drain students with more loans and could be in debt. College has been raised to the point where people rather start working at a minimum wage than continuing with school. Working on a part time job would be an easier choice rather than pursuing towards their degree. As people attend college, fees build up and students loaning money and possibly be in debt. Not only that, some may say college isn’t worth it, but it is. Getting a degree pays off at the end going towards your career path, making twice as much as you would work at a regular job. Students who have received a degree are slowly declining. To make adjustment, College should be free for
Why should we be allowed to have the opportunity to have free higher education or decrease the cost of it? Going to college should be our right and cost of tuition should not affect our decision on whether to go or not. The ability to have free higher education with little or no cost can open the door and create many great different paths for us. The more education we have, the more opportunities grow, but that can’t happen to all of us due to tuition costs or even being in debt with loans for not being able to have the money to being with. With tuition being eliminated or decreased, people would attend college more not saying a lot would, but just the fact that more people would consider college. Germany abolished tuition which provides a model for the United
...ing the mindset of the students to aspire for jobs that they will be able to pay off their hefty loans. Students aren’t reaching for their passion but rather an apathetic job that society is forcing on them.
No students should be in debt for their education. If students can’t go to school for free, they should make it affordable. Without financial aid families would not be able to pay for the students’ tuition. The country should make it easier for those who have kids that are juggling work and school. Having an education gives everyone a better opportunity for their future.
"Young, almost broke, and attending college". Today 's public and private colleges and universities contain very high tuitions that lead to students with decades of debt. People recognize the need for education farther than high school to make a life-sustaining wage, but many students are compelled to choose work over school. Numberless of students choose work over college because the rise of college tuition is making it harder and harder for students of lower class or low income to obtain the education they want and need. Although, other students adjust their class schedules to their work schedule, at the end they wind up withdrawing from college. This supports low completion rates in the United States. The purpose of college is not just to
Ultimately, the United States should bring forth a free, government subsidized, higher education, because of its benefit to the economy, creation of equal opportunity, and the resolution of the student loan crisis. Even though it will require funding, there are certainly innocuous alternatives that could provide this rather than putting the extra stress on average American taxpayers.
In today's world, in order to get a good paying job, you need to have some type of college degree. A college tuition has become a necessity in society today. However, with school being so expensive, many students can no longer afford the cost of attending college. These students decide to graduate and start working directly after high school. With graduates working a minimum wage job right after high school, which often leads to lower income. If students are able to attend college for free we will see an increase in the national income average. More individuals will be able to provide for themselves, and less money will be government funded to support those who don't have higher-education. If college tuition is free we will see a direct positive increase in student enrollment levels. In this case everyone wins, more professors will have to be hired, colleges will become busier, and long term our nation will be set up for success due to the level of intelligence our people have. College tuition should be free.
It’s important to people who are in working class have to purchased academic degrees while they need more financial aspects in their life. People who needed some risks to get some more opportunities while you are getting your academic degrees and to educated themselves so that they can have more options in other careers. Sooner on purchasing academic degrees and later you can get some resourceful careers to achieve other than working-class jobs like working at a bakery or the factory or be janitor and cashier. College can provide students some financial aid than some working jobs does. From the argument between Briallen and Johanna Hopper, I considered it will be important to people around the world can make their decisions to purchase some college degrees either “B.A.’s and Ph.D.’s” so that they can have better
Independent.Leadership.Equality. All of these are three characteristics as to what free university education can provide to citizens.Higher education should be free of charge for the citizens of the United States. In the US the average cost for colleges per year is $8,893. Many middle class and under class people cannot afford such costs. It is true that the government will give you grants but most of the time students never get funding from them (Emmons 3). Most people of today can hardly afford a car let alone the fees and tuition of college. Also, it could provide equality to all people. Allowing everyone an equal opportunity to go to college and make something of themselves. It provides a way for poorer families to break free from their social strata that they have been put into (“This House Believes University Education Should Be Free” 4). This is why it is important to make university education free.In the end citizens of the US would benefit from university free education.
Clearly, the merits of having free higher education outweigh the drawbacks in immeasurable ways, benefiting the individual learners, states, and the nation at large. Having education in higher education free to all would ensure that every citizen get an equal opportunity in life regardless of their social status, it would allow people to concentrate on nation-building rather than loan payment after school, it would make the nation skill-sufficient and all citizens be more productive. Most importantly, education is a basic right that everyone deserves and money should not be a hindrance, thus, education should be free for all.
Yes, I strongly believe that college education should be free for everyone because Education is a basic necessity of our society these days. Free education wouldn’t just benefit one generation or one society but it can benefit the whole nation. If a nation is educated, then it can benefit the whole country and it can get better job opportunities for its citizens because in today’s world we can see highly paid jobs are knowledge based or require advanced technical skills. So in my opinion more educated nation would help remove all those flaws which are keeping country’s economy from growing rapidly. If the education is free in college then it can help a lot of those students who got good grades in their high schools but could not get into the college because of their financial situation. This way these kind of needy students who deserves to get a good degree and basically these students are future of America but they could not get it through
