Recommended: How hitlers ideas and actions help to cause ww2

“For the dead and the living, we must bear witness.” - Elie Wiesel . This quote comes straight from a man who went through the holocaust himself. Over time no one really knew who was to blame for this mass murder most people point to hitler but in the holocaust there was more than meets the eye. I feel the groups who should be held responsible for this is SS soldiers, Hitler, and Minor Nazis.

The minor Nazis are the least responsible out of these 3 groups Due to their thought process was mainly focused on victory in the war but some still were cruel and liked to inflict pain on jews.A former Nazi said “ The bittersweetness of uncertainty; To win or to lose.” (qtd in Goodreads) This was pretty much the mindset for most minor nazis as they …show more content…

Hitler himself said “ If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed.” It plainly showed that he was lying the whole time to the people in germany he lied and said it so much people believed him. Hitler also states “I do not see why man should not be as cruel as nature” It sounds like he encouraged people to be cruel and he wanted them to be as cruel as they could ever be.

SS Soldiers were by far the most ruthless of all they did not only listen to Hitlers direct orders but even took it a step farther and executed and abused everyone who wasn't nazi. Elie weisel a holocaust survivor said “ The SS made us increase our pace Faster you tramps you flea-ridden dogs.” (Weisel 85)” The SS treated the prisoners like trash and there intent were to have prisoners tortured far beyond their comfort and have them die . Miklos Ligrady a citizen in germanys exclaimed “ I read that concentration camp commanders wrote back to Berlin that ordinary German soldiers were traumatized at having to shoot large numbers of Jews and some other method of execution had to be found.” So the only ones running these camps were SS and minor nazis would sometimes come and be traumatized by what the SS were doing and it also turns out hitler has never been to one of his concentration camps so these SS were doing as they pleased by their
