The research paper will be based on the Spider-Man movie from the year 2002. I'm writing about "Spider-Man" because the story covers all the epic elements. This movie also shows the epic elements in an easy way to see.
The first obvious epic element of this movie is the epic hero. The epic hero of "Spider-Man" is (drumroll please) … Spider-Man (I know shocking)! Spider-Man, A.K.A. Peter Parker, used to be just an awkward nerd until he was bit by a genetically modified spider on a school field trip. After this strange event, he gained otherworldly superpowers. Peter had superhuman strength, acrobat like movement, his senses were heightened, he could shoot webs from his wrists, and climb almost if not any surface! Peter’s vision also improved,
An epic hero is an audacious or noble character, admired for great their achievements. In the movie O’ Brother Where Art Thou, main character Ulysses Everett McGill can be seen as an epic hero. First of all, in the movie O’ Brother Where Art Thou the plot of the movie revolves around Ulysses Everett McGill trying to get back home. In an epic, an epic hero goes through a long journey. In this case, Ulysses is trying to get back home to his family. Also, in the beginning of the movie Ulysses takes the lead with his two other men, showing that he is a natural leader. Being a natural leader is another trait of an epic hero, which is another trait Ulysses embodies. In conclusion, an epic hero is someone who is a courageous person, who is admired
An epic hero is character who is brave and noble, and that person is someone who carries good leadership traits and goes through an epic journey. Usually an epic hero is from an epic, and an example is Odysseus. Odysseus goes through a journey to return back to Ithaca, his homeland. In the modern era, there are epic heroes all around us. They can be in books, movies, or plays. One great example of a modern epic hero is Woody from Toy Story 3. He is confident, courageous, selfless, and humane. Woody is a toy cowboy and his owner, Andy is going off to college. Woody and his buddies get misplaced and get donated to a child day care center. There, they have to try to escape and return home, after realizing how bad the place
I chose Saving Private Ryan, the 1998 movie directed by Steven Spielberg about the invasion at Normandy and a special mission that follows, as the topic of my paper. The mission is for eight men to go behind enemy lines and rescue a soldier who’s brothers have died in battle and bring him back.
An epic hero is a noble and brave person that accomplishes large goals. These noble and brave people have characteristics such as being selfless and loyal. What makes these characteristics so important in an epic hero? Being selfish can make the epic hero stray from the objective. On the other hand, being loyal shows commitment and dedication. An example of epic heroes are Dory and Odysseus. Disney’s movie Finding Dory is about Dory’s journey to find her parents. Homer’s epic The Odyssey, Odysseus goes on an expedition home after the Trojan War. Both Dory and Odysseus face many risks on their journey. However, Disney’s Dory and Homer’s Odysseus are both heroes that accomplish immense feats, but Dory is a more exceptional heroine than Odysseus as Dory is more loyal and selfless than Odysseus.
Modern Poetry An epic hero is defined as larger than life, someone who embodies the values of a particular society. Common epic heroes have superior strength, they care for their people, and are fearless of death. Epic heroes show great intelligence and inventiveness. An epic hero will suffer severe pain, but in the end, they will ultimately persevere and conquer over evil.
Batman and Superman are superheroes whose qualities are exaggerated in a way that is reminiscent of the gods and heroes in The Odyssey. In Fact, the superheroes from comic books emerge from the epic tradition. Epics, as you know, celebrate the great deeds of one or more legendary heroes. This epic hero is generally involved with a quest to overcome hardship, and he (and it usually is a "he") succeeds. The hero performs superhuman exploits in battle, often saving or founding a nation or the human race itself. Sound familiar? And even in terms of the superhero's body, with his bulging muscles and larger‐than‐life qualities, such figures evoke the images of Baroque masculinity. What Becomes important in these retellings, then, is how the hero makes the journey, how he faces his obstacles, and what he learns in the process.
As Beowulf possessed incredible the strength of 30 men, Luke Skywalker the force, and Harry Potter magic, epic heroes continue in every form of today’s entertainment and storytelling. Every culture from the beginning has had their own tales of heroes accomplishing great feats that no one else could. An epic hero is an icon for everyone to relate to, they symbolize different lessons to learn. The epic hero archetype exists as a source of entertainment but also as a demonstrative tool. Their morals and actions are there to help shape our own actions in life. The archetype of an epic hero is unchanging; it stands against the test of time to give us reassurance in the good moral values of human life.
It is very odd that two men who appear so different can be as similar as Beowulf and Achilleus. They each have a distinct code of honor, an avid need for recognition of their deeds, and both victorious over the enemies they encounter in their epic battles.
When deciding what movie to do for this particular paper I faced a few issues. I knew what the requirements were, but I wanted something different and something I could have fun watching and writing as well. So, after looking around and pondering movies for weeks I finally decided on a perfect choice The 60’s directed by Mark Piznarski?
People are heroes in different ways for different reasons. American soldiers are heroes because they fight boldly for their country. Corrie Ten Boom is also a hero because she took risks and saved hundreds of Jews. Abraham Lincoln is another example of a hero because he fought for what he thought was right and helped free all slaves. Similarly, Odysseus, the main character in Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey, possesses all of these characteristics and many more, making him a true epic hero.
Definition: “An epic hero is the larger-than-life character in an epic--a long narrative poem about important events in the history or folklore of a culture. The epic hero demonstrates traits that are valued by society. The character’s traits can be communicated in narration as well as through dialogue.”
Greek mythology is a beloved part of literature that has given humans thousands of stories to tell. From stories about deadly quests, powerful deities, to the even more famed aspect of Greek Mythology, its epic heroes. One of the many authors who took inspiration from Greek Mythology, and will serve as reference for this paper, is Hamilton, Edith. Mythology. 1988. The most well known epic heroes from Greek Mythology which Edith Hamilton writes about in her book are Hercules, Jason, Perseus, and Theseus, but the debate lies in which of these heroes is the best. To which the answer is, Theseus is the better epic hero because he possessed superior strength, intelligence, and courage, he was the most just from all other heroes,
To the world today, a hero is someone distinguished by exceptional courage, nobility, or strength; but really, anyone can be a hero. A hero can vary from someone as well-known as George Washington to someone as unheard of as anyone’s very own mother. Someone who has done a good deed for someone else is hero. The biggest heroes are the ones in well-known books and plays, such as Odysseus from The Odyssey, or have made a huge difference in the history of this world, like Mahatma Gandhi. Siddhartha Gautama is a hero, but not in the same way Odysseus or Gandhi are. Although these three influential people went through different journeys in order to accomplish different things, they are all heroes in their own way and have been through the same cycle of the road of trials and crisis/salvation.
There are many characteristics of an epic story in the movie Star Wars. Some of those include bravery, loyalty, and a vast setting. Star Wars is a movie about the hero discovering who his true father is and finding a way to bring peace between everyone. The first characteristic of an epic in Star Wars is bravery.

Reynolds English 1110-086 & 087 Due: March 1st 2024 Title of Your Report “A hero is not shaped by their titles or trophies, but by their actions and character.” A statement by Kobe Bryant (1978-2020) is a quotation that shows that even though a hero may not have a title, or previously was not a hero, that their actions and how they take initiative to save the day is what truly matters. The main difference between an epic hero and an anti-hero is that a hero will stop at stopping the antagonist, being noble and ethical in doing so. Whereas an antihero is not afraid to cheat, lie or kill the antagonist.
