Emotionally Abusive Relationships and the Outcome
People portray love songs as a guy falling in love with a girl, and singing about how he feels about her. Or it can also be the other way around. There are also love songs that have to deal with breakups and trying to get back together. Either way, people never look deeper into the meaning of the love song. There are hidden messages in every song. By closely examining the song “While my Guitar Gently Weeps” by the Beatles, it tells a love story, but it is not the average love story. It does not have a happy ending to it, which is discovered in the lyrics. When analyzing the lyrics the band uses a lot of repetition, and uses words to make the listeners feel sad. The music video shows a woman

In lines fourteen through seventeen, it says “I don’t know how you were diverted / You were perverted too/I don’t know how you were inverted/ No one alerted you” (The Beatles).. Again, they use the repeat “I don’t know how…” , but this time they do not know how she did not know the relationship has going to be like that. When they say diverted it means that no one let her know that the relationship was going to be like this. They use the word perverted in a different context in the song. It means that she has been corrupted or distorted from the way she was originally. One of the band members must have witnessed the change of this woman. She was inverted means that she let her partner change who she …show more content…
They are just heartless. The last rows eighteen through twenty-one sums up the outcome of the reactions of other people looking at her heart broken, and not taking into consideration of what she has been through. It states “I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping/ While my guitar gently weeps/Look at you all/ Still my guitar gently weeps.” (The Beatles). They repeat “ My guitar gently weeps.” to show that this is a low time in her life. This messed her up, now she has to learn how to love again, but she is scared of anyone who tries to show her love. And the people do not know that she is hurt so they just let her go, this indicates the part why the love there is sleeping. He sees all the love in her, but she is just not sharing it with him because she is still hurting from her past relationship. We get the background that the band member is writing this song to a girl that he has known. He wants to love her, but she is not letting herself be loved because of the past incidents in her relationship. He has witnessed these things happen to her and he just does not understand why she would go through this with
She thinks that if she vandalizes his precious “souped-up four wheel drive” it will stop him from being unfaithful- to teach him a lesson. However, in “perfect” the thoughts haunt her mind as she realizes she serves no purpose to her boyfriend. “ I hear you talking 'bout her in your sleep”, she feels as if he’s distancing himself from her; as if he has lost the love he had for her; it can make any women feel defeated wondering what the other women is doing that has such of an effect on them. “I can taste her lipstick, it's like I'm kissing her, too”. She has reached a turning point in the relationship; she knows he is being unfaithful from the way he acts towards her, tasting her lipstick as she kisses him, when he says her name in his sleep. She knows he’s being unfaithful yet she still stays- she stays hoping he will change when he does not. While in “Before He Cheats” she does not stay another second to an unfaithful man; she leaves the relationship. Secondly, in “Before He Cheats” she keeps thinking about her ex, thinking back to the memories they had and insulting his new replacement how she is nothing like her and how she believes she is much more better than who he preferred to be with. “He’s
So that I don’t have to explain to them what it is about. Because I will not be describing nor will I explain what the artist meant from, when he was writing the song. I will be putting my own twist and thought about it. My main purpose is to make the audience think outside the box, and see how a totally different experience or event can relate somehow back to the song. That you can take something like “love you”, and somehow connect it back to a war or a celebration. The only limitation is your own
Would all this be true if I didn 't care for you?” This song depicts Andy’s emotions about what has happened before the scene and we see that
This song talks a lot about the baggage of the past that people hold onto instead of letting it go. All that baggage is only going to end up hurting you more and more instead of helping you in any way possible. An example is the opening
Connie is no exception to the fact that music does deeply influence people. Before Arnold came to her house, Connie had been listening to Bobby King, a soul singer. When Arnold pulled up to her house, Connie heard the same Bobby King song playing in Arnold’s car that she had been listening to before. The lyrics in Bobby King’s songs endorse dark and romantic ideas. One song, “At the Dark End of the Street,” tells the story of how two lovers meet up in a dark alley. These songs that talk about outlandish versions of love muffle her understanding of true love. So, when Arnold often says phrases like the ones found on page 47, “Yes, I’m your lover. You don’t know what that is but you will,” Connie believes him. Also, because she has an opaque understanding of love, she doesn’t understand that the world is full of people who will use young people that are still trying to comprehend the world. When Connie finally realizes that particular people will use her own incompetence about love and how music influences her against her, the situation had gone too far out of Connie’s hands. Similar to how Connie doesn’t understand true love, Connie doesn’t understand how to act around
The man feels abandoned in a corner and he drinks for the sadness he feels. While drinking, he tells himself I do not understand why you left me, if I know she loved me, so if you ever regret your decision he will be waiting for you. Basically, the man feels broken emotionally because the women he loved, left him for no reason. This song to me is not a dancing song, however the song is more about remembering your ex-wife, ex-girlfriend or ex husband and ex-boyfriend. For me personally, this song reminds me of drinking, the title literally means bitter shots of liquor. The way the song shares the hurt the man feels by the women that left him. I could almost picture a man sitting at a bar drinking to his ex saying, “I’m drinking because of you, you caused this”. I could picture that scene in my head because I have seen my friends in Mexico and my cousins in Mexico do
The song is delivered in the form of conversation. In the first conversation, the victim speaks to the abuser. In lines one through five of “Love the Way You Lie.,” Rihanna sings from the victim’s perspective and her tone is heavy. It comes from a place of sadness, heartbreak, and confusion as she says, “Just gonna stand there and watch me burn? / But that’s all right because I like the way it hurts. / Just gonna stand there and hear me cry? But that’s all right because I love the way you lie” (Eminem and Rihanna). Here, the abuser is being asked if they’re going to watch her be hurt, but creates an excuse for the violent action by saying that it’s an acceptable thing to
The main theme in the three songs is having or being in a relationship. Each song is talking about a relationship with either a family member or a girlfriend. Most songs these days are written about relationships and this usually makes the song more interesting to listen to. When people write songs they usually write about their feelings or personal experiences that they have had. All of these songs were written about things that had happened to certain people in the past. Songwriters find it easier to write songs about what may be going on in there life or what may have happened in the past. To them it’s a way of expressing themselves and maybe releasing stress.
CSNY is profoundly successful in conveying their message in the song by using the right lyrics and vocals accompanied by the tune of the guitars. “Helplessly Hoping” can be interpreted in so many ways that in either way it, nonetheless, will insinuate on the same thing, which is love. As they put it love is not lying, and it will always be around. Listening to the song can put one in an emotional roller-coaster that its theme can be known beforehand. This perplexed relationship describes the essence of love, and its implications. It reflects on how love can be capricious, which gives a sense of mystery. The harmony of the group in the song makes it one of my favorites, and puts it in my top list of love songs in all times.

After looking more into the song Almost Lover, by A Fine Frenzy its easier to see more of a meaning behind the song. All the signs throughout the song point to show that she wasn’t just left like a normal break-up. Her lover let her go because he was being deployed, and didn’t want to make her wait around for him. Even thought, it still broke her heart, and everything she does just makes her think about him, and wonder if he is okay while he is away serving the country. After dissecting one song its easy to start wondering about the deeper meanings of almost every song that is made. Altogether Almost Lover, is a beautifully written love song, about a heartbreaking reason to be left. She still wonders about him, and his well being.
As a result, many people will often misinterpret the song “Like a Virgin,” by Madonna because of several different factors. One factor is that many people do not know who wrote the song. This song was not intended for a female to sing, and it was written by a male. The song title throws people off easily and makes them think the song is about sex, or a woman who likes to sleep with different men, and experience a new feeling every time. The lyrics can also be confusing if the listener does not pay close attention. This song “ Like a Virgin,” is not related to the theme of sex, but it is related to love, and how a someone can come into your life and fix the hurt inside of you, and fix a broken heart leaving you with happiness and love all over again, and making you forget about the hurt you once had inside of you.
The listener experiences the feelings of unrequited love along with the impact of what obsession and not being truthful with oneself can do all at one time. Obsession and being truthful with oneself are the underlying themes of this song.
This song shows how much she is jealous of the other women in his life, “I want her long blonde hair, I want her magic touch.” She wants to be her because maybe if she is her than he will
The song accomplishes such a thing by taking the approach of a man who knows he is dying, and who takes a nice approach to it. Before the man dies and gets to experience the beauty of heaven, he explains to his loved ones that he doesn't want them to cry for him when he is gone but rather be happy for him. Images that the reader can perceive as vivid actions.
