Introduction The Nederlandse Voedsel- en Warenautoriteiten (NVWA) translated as the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority is a Dutch public organization. This organization aims to safeguard “the health of animals and plants, animal wellbeing, the security of food and consumer products and, enforce the [Dutch] nature law.” Consequently, every inhabitant of the Netherlands is directly dependent on them. Furthermore, many individuals worldwide are also, either consciously or unconsciously, reliant on the NVWA due to the large amounts of goods the Netherlands exports. Before 2009, the tasks of the NVWA were fulfilled by three separate organizations: the General Inspection Body (Algemene Inspectiedienst, AID), the Plant Protection Service (Plantenziektenkundigedienst, PD), and the Inspection and Qualification Service for Goods (Keuringdienst van Waren, KVW). However, since 2012 these companies have officially fused and are now one entity called the NVWA. During the period of the fusion there was also reorganization. Within this essay I will analyze the NVWA‘s vision, mission and strategy, type: public or private, organizational structure, leadership, organizational culture, and environment. Mission, Vision and Strategy The mission, vision and strategy give an illustration of the background and context of an organization. A mission is what the company stands for and the primary objectives it aims to achieve, whilst a vision is what the company wants to achieve in the far future. A strategy is a way of tackling the issues faced when working towards the vision and/or the mission. It is the answer to the question how? This is important because the NVWA is a typical situation in which the leader only has knowledge about how to lead and manage an organization, however, does not have much knowledge about the substantive aspects of the organization. By forcing the division to take responsibility they no longer have to directly justify their actions to the IG who has little knowledge and can therefore less effectively judge the situation. This will consequently lead to a narrowing of the gap, as employees receive more responsibility and therefore reach a more equal level. Besides, not going through the process of justification costs less time and is therefore more efficient. This also leads to more flexibility within the organization, which is necessary for an organization whose work depends on the developments within society.
Both, vision and mission statements provide purpose to organizations. Therefore, they should set the foundation for the strategic planning process. However, if and organizations strategic direction evolves, leaders should consider revising the organization’s mission and vision

Other aspects of envisioning that are relevant at different levels of an organisation, or across inter-organisational networks, include the formulation of strategies based on a SWOT (Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis of the organisation or service, its resources and the interests of its stakeholders, which in the case of healthcare would be government representatives, insurers, patients and local citizens (Walshe & Smith, 2006).
Almost every angle of the food industry can be considered dangerous. It is dangerous to make the food, as a meatpacking job is one that is viewed as having abnormally high risks; however when the food is handed over a counter on a tray or prepared in a family of four’s kitchen, it poses a huge risk to humankind. Foodborne illnesses are all too common and almost everybody has the possiblity of contracting a foodborne illness. These are life threatening diseases that need to be monitored and regulated; therefore the enforcement of government regulations in the fast food industry could potentially save many lives that are lost annually due to the numerous factors that need regulation.
The Meat Inspection Act of 1906 was an attempt to regulate the meatpacking industry and to assure consumers that the meat they were eating was safe. In brief, this act made compulsory the careful inspection of meat before its consummation, established sanitary standards for slaughterhouses and processing plants, and required continuous U.S. Department of Agriculture inspection of meat processing and packaging. Yet, the most important objectives set by the law are the prevention of adulterated or misbranded livestock and products from being commercialized and sold as food, and the making sure that meat and all its products are processed and prepared in the adequate sanitary and hygienic conditions (Reeves 35). Imported meat and its various products are no exception to these conditions; they must be inspected under equivalent foreign standards.
Recognition of Bess or “Clean, Safety and Healthy” has been enforced to all food premises trader in Malaysia in 2012 and currently regulated under the enforcement of Food Safety and Quality Department, Ministry of Health and Nutritional Department, Public Health Office, Ministry of Health in which it is fully supported by several related agencies such as Ministry of Domestic Trades, Co-Operatives and Consumerisms (KPDNKK), local authorities, Agricultural Department, FAMA, and Islamic Religion Department etc. This recognition program is an effective effort that has been implemented by the Ministry of Health in order to encourage all food premises trader in the country to provide and sell the food which must guaranteed to be securely, healthy and nourishing to all customers. The implementation of these guidelines is part of an improvisation against current monitoring programs that has been enforced to all food premises in the country through the Ministry of Health. Generally, there are four main criteria which must be compiled by the trader of food premises before successfully elicit this recognition certificate to the operational activities and services of their own food premise. The main four criteria are consists of perpetuating hygiene level to their own premise, providing safety and healthy food and providing the food in an accurate serving size amount in accordance to the needs of an individual. Based on an interview with a five year grocery store employee and her insights about the grocery store franchise of which she is employed, the many issues surrounding the industrial food industry are uncovered.
