Julius Caesar is a well-known name in history with being one of the most successful leaders in ancient Rome History. He did many great thing and many not so great things. HE was a great leader in most of the eyes of Rome, which led to his rise as the leader. Many of his choices were not the best, so many people did not agree with him in the Senate of Rome. The major downfall for him, in my opinion, was when he went to Egypt to negotiate peace between the two cities and went behind his wife and Rome’s back. Instead of just making peace he found himself seduced by Cleopatra and because of this choice, he had to put her under protection of the Roman people. This is the day that the man who changed Rome altogether came about (Bio). Little did the world know at this was that Julius Caesar’s family was not rich or even close. This raises the question, how did Caesar get so high in politics? This is a logical question based off the fact that many of the wealthier people looked down at the poor at this time. The poor had no say in anything politics in the city of Rome. If you were born with wealth you were in a higher social class, usually it had something to do with the Roman government, most likely depending on how rich the family was and the current status of the father because like the poor at the time the women of Rome were just housewives who also had no say in politics. When Julius Caesar was only 16 years old, his father passed away, pushing him closer to his mother. To answer the question above Caesar married a girl named Cornelia, who was a daughter of a Nobel (Bio). Most likely because his family was poor, the dictator at the time named Sulla refused to accept their marriage and told them they need to divorce immediately.
