Beowulf is an epic hero. He was also a powerful warrior, a worthy King, and gained righteous knowledge from his three major battles with Grendel, Grendel’s mother, and the dragon. There is plenty of reasons to say why Beowulf was a great warrior. Beowulf’s battle with Grendel is a great example proving how he is a powerful warrior. Grendel would attack a bar on almost an everyday basis. Higlac calls upon his nephew Beowulf to defeat Grendel. Beowulf comes up with a excellent plot to lure Grendel. Beowulf plans to throw a feast. Later that night Beowulf and his men jumped Grendel. Beowulf tried to slash through Grendel but his skin was to rough cut through. With all Beowulf's might he ripped Grendel's arm off. Grendel later died from his wound. Beowulf's strength and wisdom saved many people's lives that night. …show more content…

This outraged the mother. She must have revenge on the man who killed her son. Grendel's mother starts killing the villagers like general use to do, but unfortunately she was faster than Grendel, so she kept getting away. Beowulf gathers his men and gets ready to go to Grendel's mother's lair. Beowulf's men could not get through the water, only Beowulf himself could get through to the lair. As soon as Beowulf reaches the lair he is attacked by Grendel's mother. Like Grendel Beowulf's steel blade could not cut her. Beowulf is stabbed in his shoulder but luckily his chain armor kept him from getting hurt to bad. On the ground Beowulf finds an ancient sword. He manages to lift the heavy sword and gets it high enough to slice through Grendel's mother's
