What does it mean to live in America today? It means that you have to open to others and their opinions, but also be willing to uphold your own beliefs as well as the beliefs of others no matter where or how different or strange they may seem to you, even in the face of opposition. It means that you are willing to work in the betterment of the country, whether you are actively by joining something like the military to defend the rights of all or just living your life, willing and open to help others. John McCain was in the American Military and he fought in the Vietnam war in order to make sure that Americans would be safe even though he knew the risks of being taken prisoner “I spent five years in the Hanoi Hilton.
