This assignment is based on a case study see appendix one which is about a patient called Jack Smith who has Down’s Syndrome this is a disorder where an extra chromosome is in place (Crosta, 2016). There are three forms of Down's syndrome, in the case study it does not state which type of Downs Syndrome Jack Smith has. For the bases of this assignment an assumption has been made that Jack has Trisomy 21 this is the most common type of Down’s Syndrome, it is where every cell in the body has an extra copy of chromosome 21 (Steven, 2005). Jack has communication difficulties in relation to his Down’s Syndrome this will be the main focus in the assignment.
