The Word Is Your Weapon
(Part 2)
Ephesians 6:13–18, “Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewithal ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all persever¬ance and supplication for all saints.”

The shield of faith to quench the fiery darts of the enemy. The enemy shoots his arrows. They are called the fiery darts. These darts include fear, words, confusion, doubt. The shield of faith is able to quench these fiery darts. These fiery arrows are designed to penetrate your heart. That is why Jesus said, “Guard your heart.” This is called the shield of faith because faith is able to shield the believer against the fiery darts. The darts will come but the shield of faith quenches these darts from reaching the target. The old folk used to say, “I am not a trash can.” By faith you can quench these fiery doubts.
5). The helmet of salvation to guard our mind and thoughts. It is the thoughts that the Enemy is so successful in this warfare. Some thoughts you cannot entertain because they are aimed at putting you in bondage. These thoughts are called strongholds. The helmet of salvation guards your mind. Through obedience to Christ every thought must be brought into captivity unto the obedi¬ence of Christ. Especially when you are offended! When you are easily offended the Enemy will place unhealthy thoughts in your head. But thank God for the helmet of salvation. Through Jesus you are

For we fight! Not against flesh and blood. But we fight against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places. The enemy is an imitator. God organized four ranks of angels. Archan¬gels, cherubs, seraphim and angels. So Satan organized his demonic army into four ranks—principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places. We wrestle against all of that. Thank God that we fight not in our own strength or power or might. But we fight in the power of his might. Be strong in the power of his might. It is his might and his strength. So you stand! Withstand! Stand! Stand
Why hast Thou come now to hinder us? For Thou hast come to hinder us, and Thou knowest that... We are working not with Thee but with him [Satan]... We took from him what Thou didst reject with scorn, that last gift he offered Thee, showing Thee all the kingdoms of the earth. We took from him Rome and the sword of Caesar, and proclaimed ourselves sole rulers of the earth... We shall triumph and shall be Caesars, and then we shall plan the universal happiness of
...gainst the powers of the dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (New International Version, Ephesians 6.12). Each person must choose whether to allow God’s illuminating love to expose his sin and take it away in order to enter into His salvation.
If you were to take a survey on views of faith, you would come up with a million different definitions. To me, faith is taking risks in situations where there is no fear of the outcome. Faith is confidence, sureness, and bravery. If you have no faith, then you have no reason to go out in the world and survive. Faith is also a positive mindset and energy you embody. According to the book, “What is Faith?”, the author, Terrence W. Tilley feels that faith is a relationship between the one who has faith and the irreducible energizing source of meaning and center of value in one’s life. In the definition, “One” means the object of faith and the relationship between them. He takes the concept of faith from a late writer, David Foster Wallace, to key point his argument in the book. Wallace’s concept was that we don’t understand what faith is and how faith shapes the course of our lives. Tilley supports his claim by discussing the common misunderstandings of faith.
“A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing; Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing.” Here is the classic English translation of the first two lines of Martin Luther's famous hymn “A Mighty Fortress is Our God.“ Indeed, it is famous among Christians who unashamedly identify themselves with the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century, which until today continually inspires them to appreciate their roots in the ancient paths (Jeremiah 6:16) of biblical Christianity over against that which is only built on man-made traditions.
Theme in “Defender of the Faith” can be interpreted in many varying ways, some of which are life-long lessons and others to the relation between faith and the individual.
Analysis of biblical writings has helped us to better understand the challenges and mysteries of scripture. In studying Ephesians 1: 15-23, research will help us draw out the bigger picture of what the writer intends to convey in his message. This passage is a prayer of thanksgiving and intercession in which Paul expresses gratitude to God upon hearing of the Ephesians “faith in the Lord Jesus and love toward all the saints” (1: 15 NRSV). This leads Paul to pray intensively that the Ephesians will gain an expanded awareness of the extraordinary and unsurpassed power of God manifested on their behalf. Paul writes this as encouragement and support to the readers.
...so holds all things in his power, so rules by his authority and will, so governs by his wisdom, that nothing can befall except he determine it. Moreover, it comforts him to know that he has been received into God's safekeeping and entrusted to the care of his angels, and that neither water, nor fire, nor iron can harm him, except so far as it pleases God as governor to give them occasion. Thus indeed the psalm sings: "For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. Under his wings will he protect you, and in his pinions you will have assurance; his truth will be your shield. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the flying arrow by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at midday" (Calvin 224).
The first piece of armor mentioned is the belt of truth. The belt was a wide belt worn across the lower torso to protect the loins from the rib cage to the thigh. This belt held the top and lower portions of the armor together. In battle, the proper fitting of this piece of the armor was of utmost importance.
Fighting for others, for your own soul, your life, crying out, pouring out your situation, crying, praising Him, glorifying Him being on your knees, on your feet, sitting, shouting or whispering. Be yourself and ask for help, direction, wisdom and forgiveness, pray for others and your loved ones.
As we search the word of God with passion and earnestly, the Holy Spirit will illuminate us, so we can grasp his will in our life “until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.” (Eph. 4:13).
... is faith, which is to “return to what took place at salvation.” Faith and obedience are keys to spiritual victory as we are called to pursue holiness and be sanctified (Col. 2:11-12).
Satan proves his leadership by managing to cause the fall of other angels as well. He has a legion of rebel angels that he has somehow convinced to join him in his revolt against God. The angels and he mistakenly believe him to be just as powerful as God (line 40). Perhaps his futile attempts to win are what attract the sympathy and understanding of human beings, for mankind is constantly trying to change things they will never be abl...
Whether a nation should implement a national curriculum in every school until college has raised questions for decades and led to arguments amongst and between generations. Yet, it has enthralled educators, government officials, and the general public similarly. Adopting a national curriculum for schools across the nation would be advantageous if the goal is to create a uniform education system for all students and provide equal access to educational resources for all students and teaching staff – both those from developed and underdeveloped regions of the nation. However, the interest of the students and various learning styles should not be displaced while establishing the curricula.
Today's Gospel reading shows us that the Lord is with us through times of trial… or when the storms of life get to be too much to handle. Whether He calms the storm as he did for the disciples, or asks us to let him walk through the storm with us, as Paul talks of in 2 Corinthians, or gives us the strength to fight against it, as He did for David while up against Goliath; he is always with us. He does not ignore the cry of the afflicted.
Paul tells us to “fight the good fight of faith” (Tim. 6:12). We must not hold on to unbelief. When we give ourselve...
