I chose the Bible verse Psalm 119:50; “My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life.” I chose this verse because I like the meaning to it, he protects us even in hard times. It was hard to find the verse that I wanted because I wanted something that meant something special, something that “hit close to home” and to know that God is watching over us and protecting us even in the hardest times is the one of the most comforting thought that us christians can know. So, when we as children of God go out into the world and get prosecuted for doing what God has commanded we should bear this in mind that God is watching over us and protecting us. My journey in faith began on July 6, 2003 when I was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church Merrill, Wisconsin by Pastor Leary. From that point on God has guiding me closer …show more content…
In the world there are people and groups that don’t want anything to do with us Christians and God. They don’t want to change, but God has charged us to see that we get them to get them to listen to him and repent. So I as grow in his word and learn it more I must teach others and bring them to Christ. As Jesus said tend my sheep and that is what we must do go out into the world making more disciples of Christ. So I must choose the path of his follower. As I was doing this paper I was thinking about a parable that Jesus was telling the masses, he said a farmer was sowing his seeds. Some of his seeds fell on along the path where the birds ate it. Some fell along rocky places it sprung up quickly, but soon died out. Others fell among the weeds where the weeds choked them. But some fell on good soil and grew up and produced crop and bared fruit. We are to be the ones that land in good soil. We are the ones that are to bare fruit make his kingdom grow. We are to make sure everyone is to find God and praise him that is what we are suppose to do. That is the mission that God has given
Jesus is a person who I’m able to talk whenever I need someone to listen to me. He’s someone who is always listening whether you have something excellent or awful to say. After I have a rough day or get into an argument with someone, I take a moment and talk to Jesus. I feel like this is a great way to release my stress or angry and feel better afterwards because I know someone was listening. Lately I have struggled to attend church, however, I know that Jesus is still with me. Jesus will always be with me no matter the circumstances.
After seeing though the eyes of my pastor I’ve come to realize the importance of faith and committing to one’s beliefs. Returning to church after two massive losses has helped my mother in many ways and it has also taught me as a young man how small things that I could do would turn to have a big impact on someone’s life the same way my pastor impacted my life and the life of my siblings.
I chose Psalm 13 because I could relate to it in many ways. The first thing that comes to mind for me is my Dad always said when you have problems you can always turn to God. I know this wasn’t just his easy way out of answering some of the hard questions as a parent but to let me see that I had my own relationship with God. The meaning and the symbolism is what brought intrigued me.
middle of paper ... ... ned to help lead others to christ. I can also be a more effective witness. That is exactly why I need to study and find out the real meaning of scripture. Bibliography: Bibliography: I did not use all of these sources directly, but I would like to acknowledge the books, references, and other resouces that I did read.
...Today as a Christ follower, we will never be satisfied if our life is not bearing lasting fruit because we are not fulfilling the purpose for which we were “grafted “into the Vine. Let’s examine the “fruit” of our lives. Is it the kind of fruit that reveals the character of Christ? Let’s not settle for fruitless Christianity. God will do the work of making us fruitful – we must only abide, surrendering our lives to His mission of making disciples of all nations through us. The whole notion of mission is to stretch out to work the work of evangelism not through hierarchy, sovereignty, rather through humbleness, hospitality, affection love for the others. That is what Jesus who portrayed as the one who we do not deserve to untie His sandals straps in the first Chapter of John, later become feet washer, intimate with humanity leaving His equality with God.
Testimonies of how you stayed faithful even when times were tough. Moments you will be able to look back and be thankful to God for them. Those moments will increase your faith and you will be able to trust God because of what happened in the past. Your testimonies are great to edify yourself but even better to edify other people. Using your experience, you will be able to encourage people in their relationship with God. If we look at Daniel in the Bible, we know that he was a good man who feared God, yet God allowed him to be sentenced to death in a lion’s den. Daniel was saved by God so it’s hard to call it a suffering, but still we see that God used this situation to show his might to the king Darius and his nation –“I issues a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. For he is the living God and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end. He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.” Dave Earley says it so well, “God’s ultimate plan behind all of His activities on this planet is to present humanity with a clear testimony of who He truly is and what He
Nowadays, Ralph Waldo Emerson is best known for his philosophical essays on various subjects and books on the nature of the self; as the inventor of the transcendental movement in America; as the most progressive thinker of his time. At the same time, many of the new critics increasingly accuse him of being extremely patriarchal in his works. However, the lecture “Woman,” delivered by Emerson before the Woman’s Rights Convention in 1855 presents the significant shift in his views about women and womanhood. I would like to trace the development of his thought on the women question and argue for the idea that Emerson was able to move beyond the patriarchal boundaries of his time.
As we read through the New Testament, we come upon many instances where Jesus uses parables to teach in ways that were very unique to the day. Until this point, many had never experienced this type of teaching and it proved to be an effective method of imparting knowledge to his listeners. A parable is a story that illustrates a moral or religious lesson. During Jesus’s ministry He told many parables such as The Parable of the Sower, Parable of the Good Samaritan, The Rich Fool, Parable of the Mustard Seed, and Parable of the Lost Sheep just to name a few.

During my seventh grade year, my church went to a youth rally at a local church on weekend. Because of this rally and the message it sent, I realized and wanted to give my life to Jesus through baptism. It was awesome, I got home as a young teenager and actually talked to my mom about what it really means to be a Christian and to pick up your cross and follow him. So that very next weekend, my dad baptized me in front of the whole church on Sunday morning. It was an awesome feeling knowing that because of Jesus’ grace and mercy, I will be with him one day and spend eternity with him. Although I was on top of the world at this point, I still didn’t know fully what I had gotten into. So the next few years, I live the typical Christian life. I was trying to be the perfect person by doing the right stuff, I would try not to cuss, I would try to wear as many WWJD bracelets as I could so that I wouldn’t have to talk to them about Christ and they could just see it on my wrist, I would not join in on conversations with my friends that I knew were not right, I was just living life on cruise control.
God wrote the Bible. Who can give a better explanation of who God is than God
I have come to understand many things about myself and the reasons why my faith have developed the way it has. There are many people, places
Evangelism is one of the key component for changing people’s lives. McRaney states, “The word evangelism comes from a combination of Greek words for “good” and “messenger.” Evangelism involves bringing the goods. Kent Hunter reminded us that “when Christians witness, they tell how Jesus Christ has changed their own lives. The change in their own lives gives them the desires to share the Good News with others.” Christians must share their testimony to people and spread the gospel so that they can bring lost souls to Christ. God has commissioned every Christian to evangelize so that people will learn about Jesus Christ and accept Him as their personal savior. Matthew 28:19 states, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”. Christians are required to spread the Gospel throughout the world and can no longer just attend church. Christians must plant seeds and water the seeds so that lost souls will be saved.
A response to the interpretation of Acts 4:32–36 as an endorsement of a type of communal living as being normative for the Christian church.
