World War I and World War II were the largest military conflicts in the history of the world. Both major military conflicts were characterized by extreme brutality and global turmoil. Although these wars are distinctly different, they also have many similarities. Specifically, WWI and WWII were very similar in terms of Nationalism, Imperialism, Alliances, Militarism yet differ in regards to The holocaust, Adolf Hitler, Trench Warfare.
World War (WWI) was a war unlike any known in the history of the world. This battle was between the central powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire) against the Allied Powers (Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States). This event was triggered by the

severe tensions between countries that led to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and the start of the war.The conflict created a power struggle between nations resulting in a four-year war, spanning from 1914 to 1918 and resulted in 18 million casualties. WWI came to be called the war to end all wars because it was so destructive many people hoped that humans would never again turn to such barbaric militant tactics to solve problems and instead shift toward democracy and peacefully resolving global issues. This hope was short lived and only a mere 11 years later the second most significant global conflict broke out. The beginning of the World War II started on September 1, 1939, between Japan and China as a result of “Marco Polo Bridge Incident”. Also at this time Germany invaded and attacked Poland. Adolph Hitler was seen as an aggressive and brutal leader. His military strategies combined with his evil beliefs which discriminated against Jews, Gypsies, Soviets, Homosexuals, Jehovah’s witnesses, etc. and saw German’s as the master race forced Great Britain, France, and eventually the United States to enter World war 2. Japan and Germany were both allies and Central Powers. The United States joined the war after Japan's Sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, one of America's greatest military bases at the time. There are several similarities between the beginning of World War I and World War II.
Both World Wars severely affected humanity and severely altered the course of history. These events are remembered as the most substantial military conflicts in human history. Military alliances also took place between different countries during World War 1 and 2. World War I Was represented by The Allied powers (Britain, France, Russia, Italy, and the United States), vs. The Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria). World War 2 Was a battle between the The Axis Powers (Germany, Italy, and Japan) against The Allies (Britain, France, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, India, the Soviet Union,China and the United States). Both of these Wars were the result of various countries striving for more power and control. To gain power these countries, especially Germany, Japan, and Italy, needed to acquire more land and their resources. The resulting battles from these desires was similar in both wars, massive casualties.
In both World Wars the United States intentions were to avoid conflict and stay neutral. The United States was eventually forced to join the Allied forces in both wars. The United States involvement was crucial in both World

Wars. Paragh 1: Early Differences of World war 1 and World War 2: There were several differences at the beginning of World War 1 and World War 2. At the beginning of World war 1, tensions between countries were high. On June 28, 1914, the first World War began when Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated by a Serbian nationalist , causing Austria and Hungary to declare war on Serbia. While World War 1 began with an assassination, World War 2 was sparked by an invasion. In 1939 World War 2 began when Poland was invaded by Nazi Germany. Before the invasion Germans and Soviets created a Pac which stated that “Poland was to be partitioned between the two powers” (History.com), causing Germany to invade Poland without Soviet interference. This invasion threatened Britain and France and forced them to take action and claim war on Germany. World War 1 lasted for four years, from July 1914 to November 1918 and World War 2 lasted for six years from 1939 to 1945.. Also, The United States played different roles in each of these World Wars and their reasons for joining were also different.
In World War 1 America joined forces with the Allied Powers because of Germany's decision to resume the policy of unrestricted submarine warfare and their possible allegiance with Mexico. Germany’s submarine warfare caused several sinkings of American merchant ships heading for England. In World War 2 The United States was forced into the war. Japan launched a surprise Air attack on American military base Pearl Harbor in December, 1941, causing the United States to join World War 2. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor to destroy America's Pacific Fleet,( their largest and best air and naval units) in the hopes of preventing the Pacific Fleet from interfering with the Japanese conquest of the Dutch East Indies, Malaysia, and the rest of Southeast Asia without interference from the US. The disaster of Pearl Harbor killed a total of 2403
people. There were many similarities between World War I and World War II fighting tactics and end results. Nationalism was also expressed in these brutal wars. Countries beliefs are that they are superior to all and their costumes should be worshiped everywhere and others that disagree should be and will be annihilated. An example is of this nationalism is in World war 2 When Hitler poisoned people with his beliefs of perfection of in the human race and those that didn't fit his idea like Jews should and would be exterminated, resulting in the Holocaust. Imperialism was a substantial effect In both wars, countries with a lack of colonies and land wanted more with more control causing the attempts of taking over areas of land or even other countries to satisfy there power hungry appetites. For instance Germany efforts to obtain Poland in world war 1. Furthermore, Militarism was also expressed. Countries were refining and constructing substantial military forces for preparations for war. World War I and WWII had various alternative fighting tactics and endings compared to each other. Even know both WWI and WWII suffered severe casualties WWII has suffered significantly more. Over 80 million people were killed in the six-year debacle of WWII. The majority of deaths can be blamed by the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a massive genocide of Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, Soviets, Jehovah's Witnesses and people with physical disabilities organized by Hitler and Germany to succeed the “End Result” of the perfect breed of humans. Hitler leader would organize these specific groups of people and send them to concentration camps or death camps. They would starve, shoot, or gas, them after using them for work. The holocaust resulted in 20 million deaths. Another contributing factor to the high death toll can be reasoned by the Atomic Bombs. Also unlike WWI, WWII developed the Atomic bomb. The Atomic bombs were used in the last result, to Avoid any other American casualties and finally eliminate the Japanese threat. The first was on Hiroshima Japan, chosen for its military importance resulted in 90,000–146,000 casualties. After the dropping of the first Bohm japan still didn't show surrender causing a few days later the second Atomic bomb to be released on Nagasaki causing the death of 39,000–80,000 people. Nagasaki was chosen as the second city because it was a massive military port and since it had been bombed before devastation left by the atomic bomb would be complicated to assess. The surprise attack of Atomic Bohm also is predicted to be payback by America, after the surprise air attack from Japan on U.S military base pearl harbor. Japanese sneak air attack managed to kill a total of 2403 American people in hopes of running their military units. Another difference between WWI and WWII was the method of warfare. WWI had an abundant amount of trench warfare is combat that consists of opposing troops fighting from trenches while using them also as refuge and berries. Trench warfare would implement various diseases to soldiers especially Trench Foot. Trench foot was a painful condition caused by a soldiers foot soaked in cold mud or water for an extensive amount of time resulting in exciting of the foot tissue and having the appearance of a black foot. In WWII they learned from the results of WWI instead of diseases infested trenches, they used Tanks for battle. These tanks were adapted and built to cross trenches, deprecating the profound consequences like trench foot of trench warfare. Furthermore, Both of these Catastrophic wars both had very different endings. Finally, Both World war 1 and World War 2 were remarkably unlike with different results. WW1 with fewer casualties Ended in a peace treaty. Germany surrendered on November 11, 1918, nations seasoning fighting until negotiation of terms to the peace treaty were discussed and signed. On June 28, 1919, Treaty of Versailles, was signed by Germany and the Allied Nations (Britain, France, Italy, Russia) bring an end to the first world war and pronouncing the victory of The Allied Powers. However, World War 2 had a very different ending. After The Allied forces had already reserved Germany's surrender on May the 1945 there was only one competitor left, Japan. Japan refused to surrender causing the second Atomic Atomic Bomb to be dropped. After The Atomic Bombs were both released, Japan Surrendered on September 2, 1945, leading The US and Allies to victory. Overall, In my opinion, the US gained knowledge and preparation for the future by entering into World War I, but not much can come from the brutality of war. After the war drafted several white young American men from all over the country, there was no one left complete so-called men's jobs. Causing women and some African Americans to step up to the plate. Women were finally welcomed into the workplace, before only welcoming white men. They established there hard working ethic and that they could be more than just a housewife or a slave to others but also that they could do anything a man could. It's also sad that we had to wait until a cruel savage world war to break out before we accepted women and African Americans into our society as equals. A year later Woman reserved the right to vote. World War 1 was a crucial part of to Women's and civil rights movement. World war 1 Also helped on the battlefield fueling the development of War Tanks new, Warplanes and proved that gas warfare could be used in war. In Conclusion, World War I and World War II was a emens part of history and military conflicts ever to take place. These major military conflicts were characterized by extreme brutality and global turmoil. Although these wars are distinctly different, they also have many similarities. Specifically, WWI and WWII were very similar in terms of Nationalism, Imperialism, Alliances, Militarism yet differ in regards to The holocaust, Adolf Hitler, Trench Warfare.
World War Warfare was one of the greatest examples of technological advancement and strategic challenge, with the introduction of inventions such as the aircraft and the tank the battlefield transformed from attrition as scene in the early years of the war to decisive by the end of the war.
World War I, also referred to as the Great War, was global conflict among the greatest Western powers and beyond. From 1914-1918, this turf war swept across rivaling nations, intensifying oppositions and battling until victory was declared. World War I was immediately triggered by the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, however several long-term causes also contributed. The growing development of militarism, the eruption of powerful alliances, as well as the spread of imperialism, and a deepening sense of nationalism, significantly promoted to the outbreak of the Great War.
The Battle of Pearl Harbor was one of the most atrocious events that happened in U.S. history. On December 7, 1941, Japan made a surprise aerial attack on the United States naval base and airfields at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. More than two thousand Americans died and a thousand two hundred were wounded. Eighteen ships were badly damaged, including five battleships. The next day, President Franklin Roosevelt with the support of the Congress, declared war on Japan. It led United States’ official involvement in World War II. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor because of a deteriorating relationship with the U. S. The “New World Order”, expansion and resources, and economic sanctions were factors that conducted to another disaster on the Second World War.
The United States remained neutral in World War One because they saw it in their best interest. At the time the war began, the U.S. industry was struggling. Staying out of the war was a way to boost the industry in America by utilizing trade with both the Ally and Central Powers. The U.S. also had no real reason to join the war. They had close ties with both sides. Some problems, however, would arise that would question the U.S. decision to remain neutral and sway their opinions to one side of the war.
World War I, a military conflict, began as a local European war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia in 1914. It was transformed into a general European struggle by declaration of war against Russia, and eventually became a global war involving 32 nations. Twenty- eight of these nations, known as the Allies and the Associated Powers, and including Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, and the United States, opposed the coalition known as the Central Powers, consisting of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey, and Bulgaria. World War I, was not only a dispute among nations, but also affected thousands of people from all over the world, including African Americans, women, and even business and economic changes. African Americans endured a great amount of racism during the war, especially from the military.
World War I began in nineteen fourteen and ended in nineteen eighteen. World War I was against the Central Powers and the Allied Powers. The Central Powers were made up of Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany, and Ottoman Empire. The Allied Powers were made upp of Belgium, France, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Portugal, Romania Russing, Serbia, and the United States. It began when Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary is assassinated by a Black Hand Serbian terrorist group member. The war ended after armistice terms were accepted the central powers demanded by the allied powers (INSERT CITATION).
World War II, also known as the Second World War was fought by Japan, Germany and Italy, also referred to as the Axis powers; that went against the Allies that consisted of the United States, the Soviet Union, and Britain with help from others. 60 to 80 billion deaths were the result of World War II ("Reasons for American Entry Into WWII"). Initially the United States did not want to interfere with a war going on in a different continent. At the start of the war America began a state of isolationism which kept America away from the war; until its “breaking point”. America’s deviation from isolationism in World War II is what establishes them as a powerhouse country economically an. Also, how America’s growth industrially lead to a post-war boom.
...was an immediate cause of the assassination of the Archduke of Austria-Hungary let to how it was dealt with, July Crisis, in WW1. While, WW2 was caused by Germany’s government wanting to expand with their expansionist aims, and living territory for German people. Alliances in WW1 were the cause of the war because of Otto von Bismarck was getting everybody together and France isolated preventing a two-front war for Germany. On the other hand, WW2 was caused by the failure of the League of Nations and Collective Security. Back to WW1, it was also caused by imperialism and nationalism, while WW2 had appeasement of letting Germany what it wanted just to prevent another war from breaking out. In conclusion, from the points discussed and analyzed above we can conclude that both World War One and World War Two have several different causes totally unrelated to one another.
The main countries which were involved in World War II were Germany, Japan, and Italy, which were known as the Axis Coalition, against the United States, the Soviet Union, and many other countries. Overall World War II was seen as the most devastating war in human history. Each country had different types of weaponry and artillery which proved to be vital in the result of the war (World War 1).
As the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 the United States officially entered World War Two. The Japanese government later learned later that this single event sets off an explosion that subsequently caused the United States to attack the Midway Islands in the Pacific Ocean. Pearl Harbor was one of the United States largest naval bases and the largest in the Pacific Ocean. This attack ceased all trade with Japan and officially added Japan as one of the US enemies. With a new world war started it created new concerns for the army. “World War II introduced a whole new set of problems in naval tactics” (Smith, 1). The main change driving these changes was the fact that aircraft carriers became more prevalent and common in every major countries naval force. Japan was able to pull off the Pearl Harbor attack as a result of aircraft carriers to launch their airplanes. As a result of the battles leading up to the Battle of Midway and conflicts with Japan this created a lot larger of an impact on WWII as a whole and to boost unity in America leading to a more prosperous period of history following the war.
The causes of World War One and World War Two can be traced back to political and economical roots. During the times prior, during, and post both the wars, all of the involved countries were making reckless political decisions, for example: excessive alliances that were both confusing and contradictive of purpose or treaties that had their fingers pointing a little too much at one country. Also during both World War One and World War Two, all of the countries were had little to no government, economically speaking, but that didn’t stop them from spending all of their money and using all of their other resources in order to have the biggest and the best armies, did it?
World War I and World War II had similar causes including: nationalism, imperialism, alliances, and militarism. Germany,
The United States never wanted to be in world war II.They never wanted to deal with the Japanese. And everything that there allies like Germany, and Italy. Germany, Italy, and Japan declared war on the United States after pearl harbor. Until 1941 when Japan attacked pearl harbor.
What do the “War to end all wars” and the Second World War have in common, well they are both world wars but what are the specifics? The answer to that will be included in the following text. To start off did you know that (per PBS.org) World War One saw 320,000+ “dough boys” lose their life fighting World War Two had a more than double death toll with 1,000,000+ “GI’s” lives sacrificed? In addition, there was genocide happening on both World Wars with Ottoman Empires killing of Armenians and the Third Reich’s mass killing of Jews in World War Two. In closing the outcome of World War One and World War Two had different endings, World War One saw the Treaty of Versailles, German
There are a few similarities and differences between World War One and World War Two. World War One happened because of territory. World War Two happened because of political problems. There are a lot of reasons people do not know about, so let’s start with the similarities and then go on to the differences.
