The Advantages and Disadvantages of Easily Obtainable Information
It is said that too much of anything, even if it's good and positive can turn into something bad and information is no exception to this rule. Once news and information became easily accessible to everyone via the world wide web the way we learn and gather information changed as a whole. Instant information anytime, anywhere, and about anything has degraded our ability for that information to stick. This can become too much all at once and you find yourself looking up the same subject several times for the same answer.
Now don't get me wrong, instant information accessible at any time

New, everywhere, scary, three of the best words to describe it. Before the integration of social media into our daily lives people met new people mostly by going out of their house, friends of friends, events, and random encounters. Not unlike the ability for instant information in the previous discussion, it seems the ability for instant friends in large numbers has watered down the experience as a whole and made it less special. Things like the need for attention, drama, conversations at the personal level, etc. are now all there for the world to see and vote on. Personal privacy has almost been …show more content…
Staying ahead, and general knowledge of something as new as social media can be a huge advantage. When either a person or a company happens to be a step or two ahead of everyone else on the latest social bandwagon it can bring great success.
The problem is though, if you don't do it right. Branding, information gathering, staying ahead, improper networking, can all come back and make things much worse. Lost profits, coming off wrong, uncool, or a multitude of other issues can arise from foreknowledge. Knowing everything can be great but don't be arrogant about it.
Knowing too much can also cause the opposite for some people. Once some users start to recognize social cues, cliques, trends, etc it can either ruin the surprise or just end up making the user paranoid and afraid to interact with anyone new.
Credibility Issues That Can Arise from Information On the Internet
Social media in the age of instant information can be a nasty combination. Once someone knows too much, either about a situation or individual, it can become too much to handle. Marriages ruined, jobs lost, friendships destroyed, the list goes on. These situations arise usually due to a misunderstanding or user error. At times, this can be too much for some
With all the new beeping, buzzing, and blinging coming from the general population’s cellphones, it would seem like the world is more connected than ever before. And yet, maybe the same bells and whistles coming from apps and texts are the same things that are pulling connections apart. Being social is no longer defined by one 's to interaction with others but is more influenced by the forms of media one is on. With the advancements in the internet so, too, have social networking sites evolved. Now that they all fit in the palm of a hand they demand more and more attention. “Contraptions don’t change consciousness; contraptions are part of consciousness. We may not act better than we used to, but we sure
Do you know that social media is a virus? A virus that brings positive and negative influences that put people in critical positions in their lives? Social networking has increasingly had a huge impact on society. Technology has opened the door to a vast amount of information and to the ability to relay that information to practically anybody at anytime and anywhere. People are constantly checking their email, updating their status on Facebook, sending tweets on Twitter, instant messaging, and texting. The debate of whether the use of social networking is a negative or positive aspect is a continuous one. In the case of Steven Pinker, his essay “Mind over Mass Media” argues that media technologies have a positive effect on mental development. In contrast, Sherry Turkle’s essay “Connectivity and Its Discontents” asserts that technology has a negative effect on interpersonal relationships. Although Pinker makes many excellent points on how technology is improving intelligence and Turkle provides exceptional ideas of how technology is damaging to relationships, neither Pinker nor Turkle provides the best answer to this question due to their lack of credibility and inclusion of logical fallacies. Instead, we should, while aware of the risks and dangers of social networking, use the Internet to its full potential.
In our day to day lives we socialize and interact with many different types of people, including family, friends, colleagues, or even complete strangers. Before technology people stayed in contact via regular mail, writing letters, telephone calls and face to face communication. Today the way in which we relate to others is completely different. We use social media for finding romance, seeking employment, or getting advice. This is where social networking and social media come into play. Many people may think that the use of social media is making them more social and more interactive with society. But others question if that is really the case. Is social media making us more or less social? Is it changing the way we interact with people on a daily basis? Is it having a more positive or negative impact on society?
