Throughout the poem, Beowulf tests his strengths, weakness and death by fighting with three different monsters in three epic fights. Beowulf shows how he believes in himself that he can fight without any weapons as he states “he would not use any weapons,” however when fighting with Grendel’s mom, Beowulf finds a sword and kills her with it. He shows that when the struggle is real you need help but otherwise fighting with your bare hands without any support can get you nowhere. He shows the struggle and weaknesses that a person shows in daily life and fights. He contradicts that however a person can be weak and strong in some points in their lives they can show weakness and a sign of death during that period of time.
Beowulf experiences different ways of fighting like through weakness, strength, and death. When Beowulf fights Grendel he signifies strength to save the kingdom Grendel had taken over and/or terrorizing. He shows the signs of strength because he wants to save the kingdom from the ruling of a monster. Beowulf wants to get a better reputation by saving the city and defeating the monster. Throughout the poem, all Beowulf wanted was the city people to live peacefully and be safe in their living state. When Beowulf returned to his city he was severely injured and wanted the best for his city people too. When he returned back to his city, Beowulf became the king for his own people. He wants to protect his city just like he had protected the king and his people when battling Grendel’s mom. Being a kind, humble person he handles simple things very delicately. Meanwhile another fight is about to happen between Beowulf and Dragon. Beowulf showed his own death fighting the dragon and later on dies from the sustained injuries he had
