2.0 Introduction
Water pollution is a huge ongoing crisis within the world’s disasters; it is a great concern globally because water is an important source of life for people and nature. The total amount of water on earth is roughly 326 million cubic miles; more than 70% of the earth’s surface is covered in water (Greenpeace, 2014). According to Perkins (2014), the textile industry is one of the largest polluters in China; this is because China is one of the homes for manufacturing for globalised fashion brands (Perkins, Greenpeace, 2014). China is well known for their beautiful Major rivers that stream through the country such as the Yangtze and the Pearl.
This report pursues to identify the hidden behaviour of well reputed global companies and the suppliers within the textile fashion industry and their contribution to the crisis of water pollution. A depth discussion will be presented touching up on benchmarks of concepts and theories that are integrated with extent of environmental sustainability, responsibility for the companies. The CEO water mandate will be touched upon and its initiatives with these several of company cases will be also discussed such as Nike and Puma. The results from the research made will end this report with a satisfying attempt to create recommendations in regards of this terrific global crisis.
70% of Chinese rivers and lakes are heavily polluted/ contaminated from industrial facilities like textile and fashion plants. The spread of ‘Cancer villages’ rapidly streamed out from the waterways to towns and villages across the country. In reality, 300 million Chinese, in rural villages, lack access to clean drinking water. China Geographical survey states that 90 % of Chinese cities have contaminated p...

...l. Economically the Textile industry has helped China boost its growth over the last decade. Earlier mentioned about the TRF government plan to increase number of people employed to 1million, this is an objective that is seen to help China grow out from poverty. This mentality of Xiniangs textile industry may be a starting point to improve the economic growth. Further down the years China will have confidence in introducing similar initiatives that will help really help the locals to be able to live satisfactory level. Social perspective of China water pollution is that local’s voice is not being heard until the large MNC’s are in the media negatively. This way these MNC’s make a change if organisations like Greenpeace did not step in and investigate deeply into this crisis, Nike, Puma , H&M other similar organisations would have continued this disgusting behaviour.
China economy has been falling for many years. Part of this downfall is lack of clean water. You know this, but know one in this world can’t live without water ,so that means water is very important. Climate change, Industrialization, and Government policy all contribute to the chinese water crisis. Of these, the biggest driver is the government policy. The government in China has a strict policy that does not allow the people to have water because China is not using enough money for their water.
It is true that there are factors contributing to China’s water scarcity, such as a bad government policy. However, the three biggest causes of China’s water-scarcity crisis are population growth, global warming, and especially industry. It is important because
The industrialization of Canada is severely affecting the nations lakes, streams, and rivers. If something is not done to improve the situation it is going to have some severe environmental problems in its future. The following essay will be looking at the factors that cause pollution, and the effect that pollution has on the environment of Canada. It will also explore some of the methods used to treat and clean-up wastewater, and oil spills.
Water pollution is a very serious problem as it affects one of the most essential ingredients to our very livelihood. The earth is covered in water, in fact about 70% of the Earth is covered in water, only
One of China’s best successes has in turn been one of its biggest downfalls. One of the main problems is China’s greatest success which has been its phenomenal economic growth. This is one of the main drivers of the current environmental problems that the country faces. Factories dump pollutants into the air and water. It is difficult to see the Chinese government making the significant sacrifices required to improve their environment if it means slowing down their economic growth.
'Water pollution is any chemical, physical or biological change in the quality of water that has a harmful effect on any living thing that drinks or uses or lives(in) it. ' (Azeem 1). In Canada, most people live in the southern part along with many agricultural and industrial activities causing the worst cases of water pollution. Water pollution is caused by population growth and industrialization, but can be prevented if proper controls are taken into consideration to help reduce the discharge of waste materials. Water pollution has been a huge disadvantaging concern for humans as well as wildlife for over many decades, but can actually be prevented if attempted. Preventing waste materials from being dumped into lakes and rivers, controlling

Water shortage is a growing problem for most countries in the world. For China, which has 20% of world’s population and only 7% of available water resources, this problem may become catastrophic (Hofstedt 2010, 72). Therefore some actions and measures should be performed to avoid or at least to weaken future water crisis in China. In this work the following three solutions will be proposed and analyzed in terms of efficiency and applicability: water usage efficiency improvement; adopting the local agencies on controlling water resources; reasonable water pricing.
China’s economy is one very large indicator of its role in globalization. “In 2010 China became the world’s largest exporter” (CIA World Factbook). Without China many places such as the United States of America would be without billions of goods imported from China annually. An influx of companies moving their manufacturing to China has allowed people to flock to cities and find jobs. China’s economy has grown exponentially over the last few decades. In the last three years China’s economy has grown by nearly ten percent every year. Despite this influx of money to China it has also resulted in many drawbacks. For example, China’s environment has been obliterated. China burns more coal than every country in the world combined. Beijing has been so badly polluted that there are actually companies that sell cans of fresh air to people, and gas masks are a common sight. On January 12th 2013 Beijing’s air pollution reached a record setting 775 PPM. To put that into perspective, the scale for measuring pollution is 0-500 PPM. This set an all-time recorded high. In Los Angeles a high ...

China has approximately 20% of the world’s population, which is around 1.3 billion people (Morris, 2009, p. 111). Also, China has become one of the worlds biggest manufacturing countries within 30 years (Fawssett, 2009, p. 27). However, such rapid development has come at a cost, which has created various environmental problems. Coincidentally, China has 16 cities on a list of the 20 worst polluted cities in the world (Fawssett, 2009, p. 15). Therefore, this essay will explain the reasons for China’s environmental problems, then evaluate the claim that the Chinese government and people, are tackling these environmental problems. First, crop farming techniques over the last hundred years, and their consequences will be explained. Followed by, how peoples choice in food has changed over the last hundred years, and how this indirectly affects the environment. Then, how a capitalist economy is linked to agriculture, and finally what the Chinese government and people are doing to tackle these problems.
Water Pollution in Bhutan 1. What are the sources of water in Bhutan? 2. What activities in Bhutan cause water pollution? 3.
All living organism depends on water and its quality. Human activities and the ways we use our river and streams and the land around affect the quality of the water we drink, cook with, and use for recreational opportunities (Erwin, Hamilton, 2002). It also affect the health and diversity of aquatic plants and animals and the beauty of our rivers and streams (Erwin, Hamilton, 2002). Many rivers and streams are significantly polluted all around the world (Lenntech, 2016). Industries and cities, agricultural and domestic activities are three major sources of pollution that are usually concentrated along the rivers(Lenntech, 2016). According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the main sources of water pollution are industrial waste with harmful

Earth is a planet that is filled with many natural resources that provide everyone the ability to live. Right at this moment there is approximately 6.6 billion people that is living on this planet. One of the most important resource Earth provides to everyone is water. This resource is something essential to everyone’ life. Each of us is made up water and we need water in order to function. There’s two types of pollution in this world. Those two types of pollution is called point sources and non-point sources. Point sources are chemicals and discharge that come out of sewers and factories. While non-point sources are due to agricultural land run offs and automobile oil on the ground. The water becomes polluted because of such harm to the Earth. As a result of pollution, there are third world countries that don’t have the money to support themselves with a water sanitation system should start using money efficient ways to clean their water as best as they can; such as boiling water and chemical treatment for water.
