Introduction Nowadays wearable electronic devices are becoming more and more popular. On the one hand, people care more about their health. Therefore wristband with health monitoring function are highly demand. On the other hand, the trend of larger screen smartphone make it difficult to hold within one hand. So some manufacturers provide smartwatches as an accessory of their smartphones which have screens over 5 inch. Today we want to introduce Watchlife, a totally new wearable device that is truly designed to enhance people’s life. In the following sections, the proposal will review the existing products, provide a detailed description of the design, discuss the feasibility and benefits, as well as conclude the whole project. Literature Review There are already several wearable devices available in the market, mainly divided into two kinds. The health monitoring wristband, such as UP by Jawbone, Fitbit Flex, Nike Fuelband, etc. provide real-time tracking of users’ movement, sleeping and calories consuming. Meanwhile, smartwatches, like Galaxy Gear from Samsung, are only provide basic watch functions and some basic control of few specific smartphones. With a return rate over 30% of Galaxy Gear [1], it is obvious that such so-called smartwatch cannot attract consumers as well. Here is the problem: these two kinds of devices are designed independently and customers are tired of having so many devices on their wrists. Besides, relatively high prices (about 100 USD) prevent lots of potential consumers from purchasing a single function wristband only for health. People also complain the terrible battery life and simple function of smartwatch. That’s why we are very glad to introduce Watchlife, a perfect solution to these problems. ... ... middle of paper ... ...all day. 5. Sensors and Motors Inside Watchlife, three-axis gyro and accelerometer are integrated for movement monitoring. What’s more, temperature and lighting sensor are also contained for environment control. A vibrator is also included to provide real-time feedback of mobile phone notification. It can also wake user up without sound in the morning, which is good when living with others. 6. Battery and Power Battery life is always a barrier for all portable electronic devices. Watchlife use flexible battery to make full use of space. Besides, saving energy had been taken into consider when designing every part. For charging, a hidden micro-USB port is designed in the buckle. Feasibility/Benefits Most of the technology used in Watchlife is achievable nowadays. However, there are still two barriers when producing Watchlife. The first barrier is battery life.

To help us reach these goals fitness smartwatches, such as the Fitbit and Apple Watch, have been invited to assist us in tracking our activity. While the Fitbit and Apple Watch are both smartwatches, they do have some differences.
Furthermore, Under Armour’s goal is to expand their wearable watches and bracelets into built-in sensors that go into the clothing they create. This product will allow consumers to be accessory free and still will be able to track their activity levels. This innovative idea will surely bring in consumers, and provide Under Armour with the push they need to directly compete
Thirdly, there is no designer because some parts of the watch do not have a function. Paley responds by stating that just because we are not currently aware of the function of some parts of the watch, it does not mean that they actually do not have a function (Paley 30).

Proper pacemaker monitoring with real-time implications leaves new insight and advancement within the medical field; while delivering real-time possible life saving patient information to appropriate personnel.
With the recent popularity and introduction of various products such as the Fitbit, Garmin’s Vivoactive, and Android’s smart watches, Apple releasing the Apple Watches definitely kept up with the smart watch trend. The Watch’s massive presence in the market has allowed it to not only match many of the qualities of other watches, but in a way surpass them with the apps, and marketing programs it has implemented into the design and functionality of the Watch.

NFC is a feature that is built in to most smart phones now as well as some headphones, cars and in even in smart appliances. NFC is becoming more common in electronics as time passes and by using a feature that will be even more prominent in the future, I can develop a product that will be marketable and effective in the future. This workshop inspired me and showed me that maybe my dream albeit different could be feasible. This product is feasible because of the advancement of technology, bluetooth was the beginning, but from the looks of things NFC is the future. This I hope will be the first product I am able to produce, but I also want to create and market other products that are just as eco-friendly and can be used in congruence with the “fitbit.”

A watch is a timepiece worn on one’s wrist fastened by a strap or band. They are a common item of purchase for men, women and children. I noticed that there are fewer people wearing watches; most if not all rely on electronic devices for the time, such as mobile phones and tablets. Personally, I feel bare without a watch. My wrist is aware of the absent weight. “For everyone who falls in love with a watch, a watch is the one item that goes everywhere with you, so that even in that lonely motel room on a business trip, or sitting as I am right now stranded in an airport, you can look at your watch and feel a sense of comfort. A watch is your best mechanical friend, wherever you go.” (Stone, 2006)
I am sitting in a still room, borrowing a moment to inhale the serenity that seems to float in the air like a cloud of fog, and listening to the silence. Listening closely, I notice that the silence, an absence of apparent sound, is its own symphony; it is an orchestration that is being kept alive by a carefully beating drum. I concentrate on the drum’s beats, observing that its rhythm is steadily and confidently throbbing. When glancing, I make a discovery and erupt with laughter. At this moment, precisely 1:43 PM, I realize that the incessant pulsation is not the tempo of tranquility, but rather the ticking of my watch. A small, thin, golden band strapped to my wrist, the watch is a living creature; it has a face, hands, a heartbeat. It has its own mechanized mind, a willpower to keep ticking at the same pace despite the circumstances; some of the more durable watches even tick under water. Within each brisk movement of the second-hand, a human has laughed, some have shed tears, one is gripped by death, and yet another is being given the gift of life.
