In Fitbit for Bosses written by Lynn Stuart Parramore she talks about how bosses want to start monitoring their employees. Parramore shows her discomfort with this idea. She thinks that “big money seems poised to trump privacy”(Parramore). Which basically just means that for bosses is that money is over everything even privacy. Allowing bosses to monitor their employees is dishonest and manipulating. Some researchers have also found out that increasing surveillance has caused the decrease of productivity. Researchers warned them that the data can have big errors and people that look at the data that the fitbits can cherry-pick the information that supports their beliefs and ditch the rest of the information that leads to racial profiling. “Surveillance makes everyone seem suspicious, creating perceptions and expectations of dishonesty.” Workers will become dehumanized“(Parramore), it prevents them from experimenting and exercising the creativity on the job.” A woman from California filed a suit against her former employer because he forced her to to install a tracking app on her phone. She had to have it on her phone 24/7 or else she would

First, allowing students to carry backpacks throughout the school day would save everyone time. Since backpacks have multiple compartments, they allow students to carry learning materials like textbooks, calculators, binders, and writing utensils. Students can use backpacks to transport laptops inside dedicated sleeves. As a result, students would waste less time at their lockers searching through debris for assignments and missing homework. Teachers, too, will welcome backpacks when they no longer have to squander valuable minutes writing locker passes. Less locker stops will reduce hallway congestion, expediting travel between classes. Without wasting the teacher’s precious minutes, students can get a drink of water, go to the bathroom, or take care of personal hygiene needs. . Even custodians will appreciate the practicality of backpacks when they are no longer interrupted from their busy jobs to unjam a muddled locker because of cumbersome coats and binders.
Asare and Danquah and Graham brought up some interesting points concerning the relationship between sedentary behavior and mental health. Asare and Danquah discovered that technological advances have reduced the participation in physical activities. Most teens would rather use their computers or watch television than go outside or be active. Screen devices have become addictive but also are being used more often for schoolwork, as Graham states. The demanding lifestyle of today’s high school and college students is another cause for high sedentary behavior. Books and assignments have been put online, where students are reliant on computers to do their schoolwork. This also puts more pressure on the students, leaving them with little time to be

he TriFit system was designed by Polar, the technological innovators in heart rate monitors since 1977. Polar, which was once known as Healthfirst, swtiched its name to Polar in the 1990's which is when it developed the firt model of the Trifit software. The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of "intensity training" by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties. By the 1990's individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not only for performance training needs, but also for achieving everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday people trying to lose weight.
In today days Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac dysrhythmia that is often seen in clinical practice. There are 700,000 strokes in the USA each year and 15% of it caused by Atrial Fibrillation. For a long period of time warfarin was the only oral anticoagulant available in the US for patients with atrial fibrillation to prevent stroke events. Recently a new oral anticoagulants, including apixaban, dabigatran, and rivaroxaban have been developed and became available in the US for the stoke prevention and systemic embolism for patients with atrial fibrillation. Now, when all three new anticoagulants are available as an alternative to warfarin for the same indication, they make the health care providers question which agent is the best and for which patients. New agents have practical advantages over warfarin that has many limitations such as need for monitoring, regular dose adjustment, food and drug interaction and side effects. The major goal of the health care providers is to prescribe the safest and the most effective alternative drug and dose to each individual patient with AF. However, the approval for clinical use by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicine Agency differ for anticoagulants and their dosages, and for the individual indication (Harenberg & Kraemer, 2012). Thus, more research needs to be done regarding the monitoring tools for new anticoagulant agents, and extend the use of these agents to other patient population.
If a student decides to skip class knowing that they are being tracked and knowing that the school will inform their parents of their location, it is embarrassing. College students get caught up in the new found freedom they never had and make poor decisions like skipping class. College is the place to make and learn from mistakes without having anyone telling you what to do and how to fix it. Using high-tech trackers defeats the purpose of learning from mistakes and removes the choice students can make towards a certain class. For example, if a student needs a mental health day and decides not to attend class, their parents would immediately know and will most likely argue and lecture the student.

The food tracker benefited me in so many ways. I total three days out and all calculated 4800 calories. The food tracker allowed me only 2000 calories a day and wanted me to target at least 150 min/week in physical activity. The recommendations for my calories were very direct and limited to only a certain amount that I could manage. It help me manage my daily food intake, inform me of the calories and fats I was placing into my body, and educated me on the need foods needed from the food pyramid. My son even loved placing the items we ate into the system to look at “our numbers” (he it calls that).

Smartthinking provides many different beneficial services that help students all over. It provides help in nearly any subject such as math, reading, science, writing, etc.. Many of these services are useful however, the one that I think will help me the most whether now or in the future is essay submission. Essay submission stood out to me the most because I am a student at Bethel University and we have to write a lot of essay papers instead of actually taking test. When using essay submission it helps people correct any issues or mistake that they may have in there essay paper that they have overlooked. Since I just started school again I will be using this tool quite often. Smartthinking provides a demand for any student. Tutoring is another good service that I can see myself using as well. A tutor is always useful to a student. Therefore I am glad that gives us the option to use
“Only one in three children are physically active every day,” (“Physical Activity”). This quote shows how important physical activity is for every kid because the only thing most kids want to do is play video games and watch tv all day. They need to start doing stuff around the house and stop being lazy every day and be active. Parents should limit the amount of time that their children spend on technology devices to encourage physical activity and promote social interactions.
monitor activities. I believe this would be a great choice to monitor students in a classroom. It
