Everyone needs its own independence and freedom. In 1590 England arrived in America and ever since England got there they wanted to control everything that was going on in America. England established thirteen colonies in America, and in those colonies they imposed their language, money, and religion exiling the indians and claiming as their own that land. Many English people came to America and established there with the idea of an exciting life which in reality was a lie because the life in the American colonies was insecure and was constantly oppressed by England. Therefore, the war for independence was a revolt against England because the colonist wanted to have representation, an opinion.

wars in America which affected more the colonists and Native Americans than actual England. “They wanted land, and sometimes they didn’t mind killing for it” (Hakim 22). England was disposed to do whatever it took in order to obtain what they wanted even if their own people the colonist had to suffer. The Frenchmen and Indians war, caused the death of many colonists and American Indians and the only problem it brought to England was the fact that they had big bills to pay, because it was expensive to send troops to America. Therefore, the solution England had was to tax the colonists in order to pay their bills even when the responsible for the war were themselves, but the ones who needed to suffer was America. When taking this decision George III did not consider the colonists opinion, and therefore it made the colonists realize that their voice wasn’t being heard. “What George and his ministers wanted to do was to teach the colonist a lesson. So they levied taxes, they wouldn’t listen when the colonist complained, and they sent soldiers to America” (Hakim 50). George wanted to prove that he was the one in charge and that the colonist did not had an opinion and that is why he raised the taxes. The taxes anger more the colonist and make them realize that they wanted to have some representation and be considered in decisions. Therefore, the colonists started having a rebellious attitude towards their mother country. Soldiers were sent from England because there were many rebellions and George III continued to want full control of America.
When the soldiers arrived they had a condescending attitude towards the colonist and this made the colonists feel hate towards them. Resulting in a hate relationship between English soldiers and colonists. “The red coats panicked and fired at unarmed people. Five americans died; seven were wounded” (Hakim 65). The colonist were tired of being oppressed, they fighted back and that is why the Boston Massacre happened. Both the soldiers and the colonist wanted the control in America only that the soldiers had the advantage of having weapons. The colonists realized that if their voice wasn’t going to be heard then they would rebel and make George heard it. Three men were capable of unifying America for the same cause and made them realize what they actually wanted. “Historians say the American Revolution had three firebrands: Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, and Thomas Paine. That war of independence might have happened without them, but it certainly would have been different” (Hakim 46). Patrick Henry’s gift of speech, Tom Paine’s magic words, and Samuel Adams’ capability of moving people made it possible for the American Revolution to be successful. Each American had their own opinion and this men were able to make them overcome those differences and unify for the same cause that benefited the colonist and not the English. The colonists were fighting for representation, but the unique talent of each of this three men combined made the colonists realized what they should actually be fighting for, freedom. They no longer wanted to be an English Colonie, they wanted to be ruled by themselves because not only due of the English their economy was being affected, but as well they wanted to have a vote and England was not going to permit that. Therefore, the American Revolution was a fight so that America would be able to rule by themselves their
own country. The American Revolution began with the idea that England was depriving the colonists right of opinion by imposing them taxes. The taxes were imposed by the King of England because they had big debts left from the French and Indians war. This angered the colonist because they did not had a saying in any of those decisions so they started to rebel against England. As a result, George III send some soldiers in order to maintain control, but this just angered more the colonist. The colonist were angry, but they were not able to unify to fight against England until Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, and Thomas Paine made it possible because they made the colonist realize that they should fight for freedom and independence instead of just representation. Therefore, if it wasn’t because of the American Revolution, America wouldn't be the country it is today.
During this entire period the British were starting to make attempts to intimidate the colonists in hopes to end the rebellions. It seemed that the more and more England tried to scare the people, the angrier they got. The tactics obviously didn't work, but instead pushed the colonists even further into standing up against Britain. The British soldiers in America were told not to entice violence, and especially not to kill anybody.
Patrick Henry once said, “give me liberty or give me death!” During the revolutionary war. The American revolution had begun in Lexington on April 9, 1775. This was where the first battle of the American revolution occurred. Through all the battles and acts the British had placed on the colonists, they had suffered greatly and decided to break away from Britain. But, were the colonists valid in disuniting from Britain and conducting war? The American colonists were justified in waging war and splitting from Britain because the British were unjust to the colonists , they imposed unnecessary acts against the colonists and the British ignored all requests for change.
Americans went through a long and difficult journey before they were truly able to be free from England. Colonists in America fought in the American Revolution to terminate British rule; the battle for independence continued with the War of 1812. Although all the odds were against the Americans, they managed to be victorious in both wars by rebelling, standing up to British threat, and strategizing.
I am for Independence. What started the whole revolution was America’s need for independence from Britain. The Americans wanted liberty and to be free from the British. They believed in being free more than probably any other country, and were willing to fight for it, too. Americans saw liberty as something everyone should be given.
In the 1770’s the British army was well known for its monetary wealth and professional well trained militia. American colonists were slowly getting more and more fed up with the inequality and taxation under British rule so they took a stand. Americans known as Rebels or Patriots fought in the Revolutionary War to gain independence from Britain. Some colonists also known as loyalists, thought that the Patriots had no chance against the professional militia so they stayed loyal to the crown. Although improbable at the start of the American Revolution, the colonists were able to defeat the British army and formally gain independence because they had great leadership from George Washington, similar goals that created high morale, and aided from
During the American revolution, the revolution itself was radical for the merchants and other groups of people. Radical means that there is social, economic and political change. The American revolution gave new economic significant to groups of people such as thee merchants. The revolution was radical because many merchants economic opputonity before the French and Indian War the merchant were benefiting and after they having to deal with new taxation. Also after the revolution the merchant group face a time of economic problems until the US constitution was enacted. The revolution was radical for the merchant economically and politically.
One of the greatest conflicts in the history of the United State of America, the Revolutionary War, was started when the colonies of North America declared themselves independent from British rule. A group of men known as the Founding Fathers, which included George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John and Samuel Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and others, formed the Continental Congress to rule their new nation. They chose Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration of Independence, which they would send to King George III to make their independence official. Jefferson knew that he needed to use strong language to make a solid agrument against British rule in the colonies and to convince the colonists that independence was the only choice to maintain their freedom as human beings. The powerful use of parallelism, ethos, pathos, and logos helpd Thomas Jefferson to convey his idea that all men are created equal with unalienable rights and that it is the duty of the government to protect those rights.
By the time the colonists had settled into their new land they had established some order such as small governments to keep the colonies in line. The ocean separating England and the colonies made it difficult though for England to guide the colonists successfully the way they had wanted. The main thing the British tried was implementing taxes, but they also went so far as letting the colonies on their own for awhile and using military to keep them in place. On the other hand, the colonists saw that the British were stalling their attempts at self-governing so they worked together to disregard any British policies. By the eve of the Revolution, colonists had developed a sense of their identity and unity as Americans that was brought about by the British parliament. Exasperated by British efforts to hinder their growing self-reliance, colonists began pushing them away by doing various things such as rioting, boycotting, or voicing their opinions on paper.
What would happen if the American Revolution never happened? Would the colonists still be under control of Britain? Would the 13 colonies still be only colonies? How would the Native Americans lives be today? Was the American Revolution really revolutionary and did it bring radical change within the colonists lives and was more helpful than harmful? Although America gained freedom from defeating Britain in the Revolutionary War, it was more harmful than helpful because of treatment of the Native Americans, slaves, and the fact that government didn’t improve.
There are four major reasons that the rebellion of the colonists accumulated into a full scale revolution. The most indistinct of these four reasons is the old societal legacies of the colonies, namely: social, political, religious, and economic values. These deeply rooted values were ingrained and inherited from the generations of colonists, and once the British began upsetting those values, resentment set in and began to undermine the British authority. For example, many of those who came to America were of British decent; they loved being English and fancied that, as colonists, they were taking part in the building of a bigger and stronger British Empire. But to those in England, the Americans were no better than barbarians. The English did not view A...
The American Revolution should never have happened. The British were not tyrannical, oppressive rulers although the American colonies perceived them to be so. The American colonists misperceptions led to revolution and independence.
Revolutions are usually described as “radical” events. A “radical” event is defined as one that greatly changes the political, cultural, social, and/or economic nature of a society. I believe that the American Revolution was a radical event that dramatically changed our society. There were many impacts to the changes such as slavery, primogeniture, the Articles of Confederation, republican motherhood, and government. This was the time in life, that we as America gained our independence from Britain. The American Revolution is what shaped our world to become what it is today.
Many people have the misconception that the American Revolution occurred because British colonists did not want to be British citizens any longer. This may have been the case for a select few, but many British colonists desired to maintain their status as British colonists and citizens. The foremost reason that the colonists began protests, boycotts, and petitions against the British was because they believed their innate rights as British citizens were being violated. The American Revolution occurred due to a chain of events and a complex set of intertwined reasons.
The colonies were morally justified in declaring independence because many of the things Britain did toward them. Britain passed acts and laws that were not always fair for the colonists. They were justified because the king had ignored them for many years, and over those years the colonies built themselves up. That combination of independence and being treated like machinery led to a great deal of resentment. Revolution was inevitable, and justified.
As soon as people left England to come to the United States, there was a smell of revolution in the air. The Revolutionary War was a way for the United States to make a statement and move forward as a country that wasn’t under the British rule. John Adams, the second prime minister of the United States, explains how the American Revolution began when he says, “The Revolution was affected before the war commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people”. Adam basically means that everyone was thinking about the revolution and in their minds they were already there, wanting to break free from the British rule.
