Caesar’s dead, he’s best friend is to blame, can he still be considered an honorable man? In the play Julius Caesar, Julius Caesar was the king of Rome and Brutus was his best friend. Brutus loved Caesar, but loved Rome more; which made him believe Caesar wasn’t going o be a good leader. The consailmen begged Brutus to help them kill Caesar. Brutus was hesitant but finally caved and agreed to help kill him. Before Brutus killed Caesar all of the citizens thought of him as an honorable man, but after some changed their minds.
In the play Julius Caesar, Brutus kills Caesar for the good of Rome. Brutus was Caesar’s best friend. All the citizens of Rome knew they were to. Brutus says, “Not that I loved Caesar less, but I loved Rome more΅(1249). He knew Caesar as well as Caesar knew himself. Because of that Brutus knew deep down this was the best thing for Rome, because he wasn’t strong enough to be the leader Rome needed. Brutus was hesitant to join the consailmen and their idea at first. He didn’t want to kill Caesar in the beginning, but then he realized that in the long run it was the best thing for Rome. Once they had all of Caesar’s blood all over them they paraded around the town. Everyone was in shock and didn’t know what to think. Antony asked Brutus for permission to speak after Brutus had given his speech. Brutus gave him permission. During Antony’s speech he kept saying “for Brutus is an honorable man” (1250). He tells people that Brutus is still an honorable man even though he killed Caesar. He told the people its ok to be mad and sad but to remember Brutus is still an honorable man. In contrast Antony could of just been telling the citizens what they want to hear. He could be saying things to get the people to listen and to get on his side. While the people did listen and believe what he was saying he leads the people to believe Brutus was still an honorable
