There are a lack of programs that address substance abuse in this nation. The general public also does not have that much information about people with a substance abuse problem. When someone is abusing and addicted to drugs in not only affects that person, but also family, friends, and the community. The Warren House is a non-profit organization that addresses the life changing problems that come from substance abuse.
This programs mission is to help and provide services to people with a substance abuse problem to have a safe and heathy place to recover without any judgement. The main goal of this program is to help the person and the family that are seeking help with substance abuse. The objectives of this program is to provide confidence, knowledge, skills, and education so that people with a substance abuse problem are able to reintegrate into society and lead a healthy and productive life.
This program does not turn down anyone with a substance problem; the only requirement for the services provided is that the person has a desire to seek help to improve his or her life through drug rehabilitation. There are a multitude of services available for the person with the substance abuse and the families. The services provided are counseling, vocational training, education, and housing. This organization gives people a chance to find an environment that is conducive to rehabilitation and reintegration back into main society. This program does this by having dormitories available to people who are suffering addictions. This program also helps by providing vocational training. There is also opportunities to seek out education; this may be everything from gaining a GED to entering into college courses.

In conclusion, there are many different characteristics, descriptions, and resources out there for substance abusers. If one educate this population on the resource that is available and making it affordable then substance abuse treatment centers would increase like Health People 2020 would want it to be. The community needs to be willing to promote awareness for substance abusers.
Therefore, when I work with substance abusers I will show empathy, encourage and validate their successes and their feelings about any failures. In addiction, I will help the person learn from their failures and normalize the situation. Furthermore, I would attempt to ensure that the person had several coping strategies in place, to help when he or she finds themselves in a difficult situation. Moreover, I intend to ensure the client has all the tools he or she needs to succeed while getting to the root of their problem through counseling.
When dealing with homeless substance abusers; case managers have seen improved outcomes when dealing with high risk behaviors by using a combination of services to help the client. Quality of life can be improved by focusing on living conditions, reducing psychiatric symptoms, improving occupational functions, social stability, and parenting skills (Rapp, 2014). The different approaches that are used to combat these addiction problems with the homeless are low intensity, outreach, clinical, strength based, brokerage, integrated and comprehensive care. Peer support groups that involve others that have suffered and worked through addictions by attending Alcoholics Anonymous are important to the client to give hope and support. The case manager 's job is to provide and link the client with needed services, focusing on their strengths and giving solutions to problems that keep them homeless and suffering from addictions. There are many contributing factors and political issues that address substance abuse. Throughout the years, many researchers have designed many interventions and social policies designed to treat people who have used, abused, and became addicted to substances. Today, there are many new studies that address substance abuse at the individual, group, family, and community or policy levels. Today, there are many services that are effective for decreasing recidivism in youth who have completed a substance abuse program. Another treatment program we found specifically targeted alcohol abuse and its effects. Alcohol anonymous is a program that allows men and women to share their experiences with each other regarding the alcohol abuse they’ve experienced in their life hoping to help each other out in solving their common problem together as one. Instead of "swearing off forever" or worrying about whether they will be sober tomorrow, people in A.A. concentrate on the not drinking right now- today. AA meetings usually require a membership though there are no dues or fees for this program. This program uses a spiritual approach like a belief in the higher power usually for example, god. These AA meetings are often held in schools, churches, or any public place available. Meetings are open for anyone to attend regardless of age, gender or ethnicity. Though you must be an alcoholic to join AA anyone can attend the open meetings. AA is supported and organized by its members, and it
