The age of enlightenment was a time period in which many people wanted to make society better and inform people about how one can improve his/her society. The age of enlightenment took place in the years 1700s to 1800s. During the age of enlightenment, many people wanted to gain knowledge about their society and humanity. Intellectuals spent most of their time gathering information about humanity and how to improve their society and lifestyle. Voltaire and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart were two enlightened figures. Voltaire fits into the age of enlightenment because he was against religion and class division. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart believed there should be equality and independence around the world. Voltaire had a bigger impact during the age of enlightenment because he was more involved and dedicated to inform society. On the other hand Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart did impact society but not as straight forward as Voltaire. Therefore, Voltaire and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart are two enlightened figures with opposing views. Mozart was a piano and music writer, and he created operas and became famous when he was just the age of ten. Mozart wanted more equality and independence. Mozart was able to express his concerns in his music, operas, and writings during the age of enlightenment. Mozart was a self-employed artist during this period of confusion and thus he became emancipated, independent and revolutionary. As an adult Mozart his career was not as successful as when he was younger. But he kept on composing anyway hoping one people would appreciate his work. He lived in poverty for the great majority of his life. In 1769 he became a concertmaster to the archbishop of Salzburg, which was another one of his jobs that afforded him little financial security. In 1777, he left on another concert tour. But, the courts of Europe ignored Mozart ‘s search for a more beneficial assignment. In 1782 he earned a living by selling compositions, giving public performances, and giving music lessons, which once again was a low paying job. The composer never did find a well paying job. The bizarre thing was is that even that he had ton of trouble finding jobs, he was still considered one of the leading composers of the late 1700s.
The Enlightenment was a time of new concepts and theories that caused the people to think about the condition of their society. There were many events such as the American Revolution that promoted and encouraged the French Revolution.
