I decided to do my third and last summer site visit at YMCA. I originally wanted to check out the YMCA on Expressway at the Rockwell Plaza but they said that they were too busy and that they did not have time to spare a few minutes. I am glad I got to go to the YMCA on Rankin Street because the staff there greeted me with a warm welcome when I walked in and it seemed like they were excited to see me. I liked the fact how they were very respectful and genuine, so right off the bat, I had a very good impression of this facility. The mission statement of this facility is “To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.” YMCA serves any type of age group starting from six months old to the elderly. I was actually surprised when I heard that they serve six month old babies! I came during lunch time so a few of the staff were on lunch so they weren’t present but I was told that there was fifty full-time employees and one …show more content…
If you are nineteen or under there is no joining fee but if you’re above nineteen the joining fee is seventy dollars. Along with the joining fee there are monthly dues that vary according to how many are signing up for membership. A household of four adults would have to pay one hundred thirty-six dollars and twenty-five cents for monthly dues and a hundred and five dollars even for the joining fee. Since YMCA caters to all different age groups there are a variety of programs and services that they offer to the members. Some of the programs that they offer are swim, work out, cardio, and Zumba lessons. They also have water aerobics class and a program called “Silver Sneakers” which goes through your insurance so that you could have free membership. As I toured the facility I saw equipments such as stair climbers, bikes, ellipticals, rowing machines, treadmills, weight training machines, free weights, a pool, and much

..., families have the opportunity to engage their children in sports and activity during the year. Starting with the youngest members, the YMCA offers childcare services for infants and toddlers at the Kolbe Early Care and Learning Center on Kossuth Street in Bridgeport. At the main location on Park Avenue, there are two School Readiness programs and one School Age Child Care Program. Youth sports programs such as basketball and wrestling teams are offered for teens, as well as a summer camp program. With all of these programs, you would think that obesity would not be an issue. However, though observation, we have witnessed many children come into the nurses office with “headaches” or “belly aches,” and when asked what class they were in they respond, “gym.” Although obesity is being addressed through these programs, the children do not always actively participate.
...ughout the whole service I never felt out of place or that I was not welcome there. I felt as though I was immediately accepted as one of them and I had become friends with all of them. All different kinds of people attend these you groups and it is not just the “goodie goods” and the “church boys” like people seem to think, they are all just people looking to express their views among their peers. As I first walked through those doors into that dark room with Connor I was a little skeptical of what I was getting myself into but as I walked out I had a whole new outlook on youth groups.

It is important to visit different facilities to determine which facility is the best fit for your child. A quality day care facility should have an inviting atmosphere that is clean, well-organized with friendly staff that enjoy working with children. It may be a good idea to observe the interaction with the staff and children, to see how the children are treated and how the staff handle the children. It’s important to notice how the staff interacts with the children individually and in a group setting. Its a good idea to know How are the children are being discipline, and if you approve it. Knowing if the facility is a licensed facility or regulated facility, and if the parents are welcome to visit anytime during the day. The ratio of staff members per child should also be checked and should fall within the proper regulations required by law and It may be suggested to check with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). For the child- staff ratio. It may also be important to analyze the learning programs utilized by each facility and determine ...
Being one of the largest social service agencies in the Waterloo region, the following specific programs are offered: homelessness and housing, psycho-education support, community outreach, early childhood education, youth development, summer camps, and annual conferences for girls. While YWCA has set programs for beneficiaries all year around, they are always looking for ways to provide more supportive housing, and adding more programs for women and young girls.
When I was a Camp counselor at Camp Mendocino, the most important part of my job was to make sure my campers were safe, comfortable, and were enjoying their camp experience. My responsibilities were facilitating and helping organize activities for the campers. I also gained valuable experience with conflict mediation, and problem solving. I was trained to know what to do in emergency situations, and social situations such as bullying. One of the most important lessons I learned from the experience is when to be a friend, and when to be professional. I believe this experience relates to the resident assistant role because it does consist of similar responsibilities. Both jobs require the individual to provide comfort and supervision. Not only do the two resemble similar rules, that one must enforce and abide by, to be an RA or camp counselor you must be able to put yourself in your supervisees’ shoes. As a second year student I definitely have had my fair share of stress and hard times from the transition from high school to independence. Just like a camp counselor I would be able to give comfort to homesick students and tell them things do get easier. I also have experience with running events and activities that are both safe and fun, and I can stay calm and act fast in an urgent situation.
Summer jobs like these are very common for teens in this community. Most kids that take these jobs develop their work ethic that way, but others don't make it very long in this field because they aren't physically able to do it. If the wellness center was to be open to them, they could make more money and develop a better work ethic.
Recommendations for action based on the research conducted : The gym is at the good location they got a lot of car park and I heard about this gym from one of my friend , he told me this is a good gym but some staff members are not very friendly .on the other hand membership charges is very reasonable and the facilities like spa , bathrooms are very great .they got the latest equipments to use and is very comfortable as well . The products are very affordable to buy and its helpful for health as well so overall the gym is an average gym for suburban people.
I just started YCET and so far it has been amazing. We have meetings every other week. The main thing we do is plan confirmation retreats for kids in the 8th grade. Last summer, I was selected for a retreat that I attended that taught me more about what YCET did. Since then I had too fill out an extensive application and go to an interview. Long story short, I was accepted into the program. At each meeting (so far only two) we start with a bit of an ice breaker to help get to know each other. There are probably around ten new members (myself included) and the entire group is about thirty people. So, as I said before, YCET is all about planning retreats for confirmation kids. I first learned about YCET when they organized my confirmation
The Special Olympics play an important role in the lives of people with disabilities all over the world by making them feel like they can have a normal life. The Special Olympics helps people with disabilities experience this by allowing them to participate in sports and different activities that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to because of their disability. Although the Special Olympics is meant to help everyone with disabilities their website only shows those with intellectual disabilities participating in what they have to offer. By doing this they don’t achieve their overall effect of showing that everyone with disabilities can come and participate in the Special Olympics without having to feel that they’re any different than those around
Having spent the better part of six summers hiking, cooking, orienteering, and practicing archery on the trails of Huddart Park, California, summer camp became a very precious time of my life. When I entered high school, I began working as a Unit Aide at my camp which meant I had the privilege to now teach young girls a whole slew of tasks such as survival skills, first aid, and knife skills. While attending Woodside Priory High School, I heard about similar activities such as archery and overnights that Mountain Camp counselors hosted. Chris Gregory encouraged me to look into the camp and see if it was something I might take interest in, and I soon discovered that it definitely captured my attention. I adore working with kids and would especially
...ity of Idaho’s recreation center, the equipment is all kept in proper order and safe; it is cleaned and put back together every night. The staff members are vital to the function of a student recreation center, and at the University of Idaho the staff keep students happy, and are always there to inform or help anyone who needs it. Between the outdoor recreation center, intramural sports, various fields, and the renowned climbing wall, the student recreation center of the University of Idaho brings a sense of variety for any multi-functional athlete. I would completely recommend the recreation center of the University of Idaho to any local, and especially to students based on its diversity of programs and options.
I am about to describe to you a walk in the park. That being said a few details are required for you to fully picture the likes of what I am about to describe. The time of day is a little past noon and the wind is howling. The sky is a pastel blue, almost as if a wash of blue light was covering a white canvas. The sun is vibrant and concentrated. You can sense the gentle warmth of the sun on your skin and see the lively colors of the world all around you. Alert to the dancing light that surrounds you, your journey begins. Searching for your starting point you choose to begin walking down a gravel pathway that has a clearing of trees a few hundred feet away. The day has a familiar, inviting glow and all around the gentle colors of green, yellow and red surround the pathway. The sun a luminous
