The YMCA The YMCA has a very clear and concise mission statement. Their mission is "to put Christian principles into practice through programs thta build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all". The YMCA is the nation's largest not-for-profit community service organization in America. With more than 2,500 YMCAs, they are able to meet the health and social service needs of 18.9 million men, women and children in over 10,000 communities in the United States. No one is turned away from the Y. It is a place for people fo all faiths, races, abilities, ages and incomes. Inability to pay is never a reason for the YMCA to turn someone away. Their strength lies in fulfilling their goal of bringing people together. Not every community is the same. Therefore, each YMCA is different to accomadate these differing needs. The YMCA in your community may offer child care or teen leadership clubs. In the next town over, swimming lessons or drawing lessons may be of bigger concern. Every Y makes theri won decisions based on the needs of the community around them. They decide which programs to offer and how to operate. The YMCA was founded in London, England, in 1844 by George Williams and some friends who lived and worked as clerks in a drapery, a forerunner of drygoods and department stores. Their goal was to help young men like themselves find God. The first members were evangelical Protestants who prayed and studied the Bible as an alternative to vice. The first U.S. YMCA...

An article discussing the importance of a mission statement states that a mission statements’ job is to outline the organization’s unique purpose and establish the basis of its values and traits, as well as describe the attitude that is to be expected of those a part of the organization. Furthermore, this philosophical foundation sets the “tone” for physical actions, meaning that the content of the mission statement can determine the behavior of personnel (Hitt & Ireland, 1992).
A mission statement is a powerful message that companies or organizations set to be the focus and reason behind why or how they manage things. They are used to help their potential members, employees, or buyers understand their passion. It is of great importance that the mission statement is upheld or it becomes ineffective. These statements are written differently, but they are used for the common objective. The mission statement at Spring Hill College is a well written statement that uses effective style, has a clear focus, and can be interpreted by a varying audience.
Back in my high school, one day out of the month was dedicated to student-led clubs. On these so-called club days, most kids will go to any club just to get out of class. Some exclusive clubs, such as the Chess club, would look down on this. These groups would happily kick some kids, but there was one club happy to see everyone who came: the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The little exposure to Christianity found at this club was all that some kids would get and the moderators of my school’s club knew this. Little by little, this is FCA’s nation-wide goal: to change the world into knowing Jesus Christ. This non-profit organization is responsible for everything from small club meetings in middle schools, high schools, and colleges, to massive summer camps. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes’s website lists the group’s mission which is to present the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church to athletes and coaches and all whom they influence (FCA). No matter whether on the court or in a group-led bible study, FCA focuses on this mission.
Most of the time is the first sentence of any publication regard the agency. An example of the mission statement is that of aging with dignity: “Our mission is to help you and your family plan and receive, the care you deserve”( Aging with Dignity 2003). This statement will call people’s attention also is clear that this company is working with ancient. Furthermore, if I create another mission for an environmental help agency with concentration on children. It would say “The mission of ABC is to protect all children health and environment. Describe with the purpose of the agency. Example ABC's purpose is to ensure that: 1. All children are protected from significant risks to human health and the environment where they live, learn and work. 2. Our mission is to reduce environmental risk are based on the best available scientific information. Our agency follows federal laws protecting children's health and the environment. 3. New York city plays a leadership role in working with other states to protect children in the nation environment. It is also very important in a mission statement to clarify, population proving the services, sources and the agency
Altogether, my perspective on this affiliation embraces the importance of education and safety across all of the United stated. The founder has surfaced a great importance to what may have been over looked. Furthermore, being that most children engage in camp experiences at some time in their life; as youngsters with the ability to absorb information like a sponge as well as being risk takers, it is imperative to hold education and safety as a high quality of a camp experience. Moreover, is the education of communicable disease along with prevention of outdoors dangers as I had mentioned before the West Nile Virus. In conclusion, I view the volunteers as inspirational people that bring knowledge to others, but most importantly benefiting the children.
According to my site coordinator, she stated that “The ideal social issue for the community service for the children would be more funding to actually implement a home like atmosphere. For many of these children, this is their second home.” She teaches them etiquette and manners because it is the most important factors when growing up. She also said that most of these kids joined the club since they were in kindergarten or first grade. Most have moved from the area, but they still come here to be at the club. They always say it is their home. She said “ Although, at times I do not have enough funding to do the programing, excursions, or events that I would like to do with them. Nevertheless, I do not let this stop me. I just pay out of pocket.”
One of the first steps in developing an organization is to develop the vision, mission and philosophy of the organization. Vision statements are used to define the goals of an organization. The mission statement of an organization is a brief statement that explains the purpose that an organization exists. The organizational philosophy outlines the set of values and beliefs that controls the operations of an organization (Marquis, 2011). UMC’s vision is “to be nationally recognized for excellence in patient care, medical education, and biomedical research.” Their mission statement is “to serve through healing, education, and discovery.” The philosophy of UMC is “to value integrity, excellence, compassion, innovation, collaboration and dedication.” (www.mc.uky.edu)
Next sit down and review the existing programs that the YWCA has in effect. See what programs are actually being used. Some of these programs may be out of date and be in need of a makeover, or possibly even need to be shut down. Drastic decisions need to be made in order to make room for improvement. This will allow funding for more up to date activities that may attract more people to better the Y.
I have listed the name and the contact details of the related organizations for volunteering or membership programs:
The relationship between young people and nonprofits can be the start of a significant change in our community, and should be a reciprocal and powerful educational experience. An open-minded and encouraging flow of communication between organizations and community members can be the launchpad for the social and environmental change organizations talk about and try for every day. Together, we can make change – not just a semblance of idealism, but reality, as well.
Though, the concept of community service is not very new, its importance has developed in the past few years. There are thousands of organizations all over the world that engage and support millions of young people all over the world. People of all age groups, with a maximum number of youth involved in the process of community service. Community-based organizations include social service organizations, non-profit providers and associations that engage both young people as well as adults as volunteers. The process is beneficial both for the individuals as well as the society.
The mission statement reads, "With the foundation and commitment of our spiritual heritage and values, our mission is to promote the health and well-being of the people in the communities we serve through a comprehensive continuum of services provided in collaboration with the partners who share the same vision and values" (rEsource). The mission statement is too broad and the way that it is written opens up the opportunity for a wide variety of interpretations. Which is what is occurring and causing a number of problems within different departments at Faith Community Hospital.
The gym where I train and workout, the Dubuque Martial Arts Group, is a place where I know who I am. It is a place I can go to escape my problems for a while and release some stress. It's not the actual physical building, but rather the events that have occurred there over the years. It's where I have formed some of my closest friendships. It is the place I have invested years of hard work for many of my accomplishments. To some it may seem odd that a place associated with sweat, blood and physical pain mean so much to someone. However, in my eyes it's almost like a second home.
a set of organizational goals that are used to operationalize the mission statement and that is specific and cover a well-defined time frame.
