DESCRIPTION Video editing is the process of combining video footage from two or more recordings with audio from a recording system, and other images and audio files. It also includes adding text, animations, and graphics to a motion picture sequence to produce a single or series of motion pictures which can be viewed as a single concise presentation. PREPARATORY WORK Video editing requires that you have video footage that is to be edited. Place the video footage, audio files, and other resources that will be used to produce the final product into a clearly labelled folder. Where possible, separate the content into subfolders so that you can distinguish footage from the different cameras and recorders. PROCEDURE Open the video editing …show more content…
Import the folders if possible so that you are able to identify which content is from which camera or recorder. Take one video file and place it on the timeline. The software may prompt you to confirm your project settings, if it does not, set the project to 1920x1080p at 24fps or 25fps. Create a video and audio track pair to place recordings from each camera that was used. Create an audio track for each recorder that was used. Create a video and audio track pair for additional video footage. Create a video track for overlay text. Create a video track for other overlaid image and video objects. The overlay tracks must always be above the other video tracks in the timeline view. Label all the video and audio tracks appropriately to indicate the camera or recorder from which the files appearing in the track are from, or to indicate the content which will be put into the track. Insert all the video tracks onto the timeline, in the sequence that they were recorded. Insert each set of recordings in a video and audio track set that corresponds to the camera or …show more content…
This should leave two or more video tracks linked to a single master audio track. Edit the video elements of the project by playing back the content of the timeline, cutting out unwanted parts, including text, animations, graphics, and images, where necessary, to produce the final sequence of visual elements. Export the audio of the project as a .wav file. Open this file in the sound editing software, Audacity. If the audio file consists of only one channel, Left only, or Right only, copy the channel and paste it in the project. Join the two channels so that both are selected when you double click on either one of the channels. Assign the copied and pasted channel Left or Right as required so that the audio now has both a left and a right channel. Normalise the track. This will ensure that the loudness of the track will be comparable to that of other tracks when played back. Level the track. This will ensure that the loudness within the track is level and that there are no very loud and very soft sections. Where it is intentional to have such variations in loudness, do not level the
Mattie, Cogburn, and LaBoeuf’s journey through the Choctaw Nation is a long, gruesome one. The scene features a couple of cinematographic techniques that make it very memorable. One of these is editing. The group’s journey takes approximately ten hours, but Deakins uses time lapse cinematography to make it much shorter. The images dissolve into one another with each new image bringing them farther into the Indian Territory. This technique shows the distance the Mattie, Cogburn, and LaBoeuf travel by compressing the time. Another ...

Today I will be describing my design for a music video set in ancient Sumer. My video will depict elements from the Hymns of Inanna and the video of “Blurred Lines.” These two elements will allow a reflection of the cultural metanarrative and the sexual script of ancient Sumer. The video will play out between two gods and a priestess. My video will have four main sections that will breakdown what the video consists of and how it all comes together. These sections will be my main characters, setting, imagery, and lastly the theme of the video. There will be subsections that serve to only expand on each of my main sections and to give clarity to them.

The recording process, to many sound engineers, is the most important step in producing a project. The First step, after the necessary equipment has been purchased, is properly rehearsing the intended material. This will allow each musician to properly play his or her part, and produce a well-oiled recording (Moore). The Second Step is deciding the structure of recording, whether to record as a group, or individually. As a group, the recording will sound more natural, and tend to breath; however, recording individually will allow the project to be more concrete timing wise. The Rolling Stones used the group recording method, which was leading factor into their natural sound (Moore). Once a method of recording is decided one may proceed onto recording each desired instrument.

Even something as simple as adding animation on top of recorded sound allowed a work to become remixed. Kota Ezawa added simple animation on top of the recording from the First OJ “Simpson Trial” and by doing so, he took something that was meant to be a recording solely for court records and turned it into a dramatic narrative that conveys many of the emotions displayed by the defense and prosecution when the final verdict was read.

The history of the modern media surveillance systems begins first with the invention of the computer and the use of software. Before the internet, information was only transported between computers by a physical storage device or an extremely expensive network. Software for media surveillance was only used to scan the media that was available in data form for particular key words. It could then be stored and indexed to be later analyzed. (Sarlós, 1982)
Despite the loss of “montage” as an aesthetic vision in contemporary films, we see how “montage” as an editing technique had in fact contributed greatly to filmmaking as we know it today. While the continuity style’s emphasis is on the narrative as well as clear, understandable space and time, the montage style focuses on creating impact with different images juxtaposing against one another. It is hence clear that the Soviet montage style has given filmmakers new ways to express certain ideas that might have previously been limited by the continuity style – giving filmmaking greater nuance and complexity as an art form with its own unique
Film editing by definition is part of the creative postproduction process of filmmaking. In today’s modern world, film has made use of advanced digital technology to help with the editing. The editor or editors are usually given a complete compilation of all the footage. These various separate shots that can be regarded as ‘ raw’ footage. Their task is to create a finished motion picture through combining and selecting shots and putting them into a coherent sequence of events. Whenever we are viewing a film it is extremely difficult to consciously perceive all the editing that has been undertaken. Every single time there is a change from one image to another, this is an edit. For editors, it could be a possible annoyance or perhaps a blessing that critics and the audience never specifically point out the editor’s contribution. However it must be noted that film editors aren’t the only ones that will contribute to a films editing.
During a movie, many actions go unnoticed by the typical viewer. However, while watching a movie, many terms emerge that can label each dynamic aspect of a movie. Knowing and looking for these names can change a viewers experience into a form of acknowledging and appreciating the cinematic arts. Following terms such as panning, mise en scene, and zoom are some examples of these labels. These are just a few of many terms can be seen throughout one movie.
...rs (ear phones), and the monitor engineer will send individual mixes to each of these as the band requires. This is not always a balanced mix like out front, as the musician may only [want] to hear key things, i.e. the singer may only want his vocals, as he can hear the drums and guitars loud enough alread” (Kasprowicz 2014). I imagine this particular task is a bit more challenging than being an FOH. Not only does one have
Offering the unique ability to visually and audibly convey a story, films remain a cornerstone in modern society. Combined with a viewer’s desire to escape the everyday parameters of life, and the excitement of enthralling themselves deep into another world, many people enjoy what films stand to offer. With the rising popularity of films across the world, the amount of film makers increases every day. Many technological innovations mark the advancement of film making, but the essential process remains the same. Pre-production accounts for everything taken place before any shooting occurs, followed by the actual production of the film, post-production will then consist of piecing the film together, and finally the film must reach an audience. Each step of this process contributes to the final product, and does so in a unique right. The process of film making will now start chronologically, stemming from the idea of the story, producing that story into a film, editing that footage together, and finally delivering that story to its viewers.
