Without access to protections of due process, those who expose human rights abuse are punished

for the exercise of civil and political rights. Our U.S. judicial system, having become too often a

venue that denies individuals the expected standards of justice, can be used by those in power as

an instrument of repression to silence dissent. We desperately need the( Rule of Law), but the
