You have made a very important discovery—one that will make you famous throughout the world. Write a story in which you tell about your discovery and how you made it. Be sure to include details about the setting and any characters in the story, and be sure that your story has a beginning, a middle, and an end. It was a cold, foggy, and dangerous night. You could smell the fear in the air, and feel the tension in your neck. Billy, William, Andrew and I. We where all camping, We had been fishing the afternoon before, and where eating the catfish we had caught that afternoon. I had always loved to camp, and I loved to fish but not this time. We had known that there was something else out there with us. Something big and hairy, so spooky that it would scare the living daylights out of the sun. As I fella sleep I was scared to fall asleep, so I stood watch for the first two hours. We had a 9mm Glock and we had two whole

I was exhausted and had seen many owls, and snakes, and deer. But towards the end of my shift I was so tired that I had slowly drifted away and was awoken by the loud thud of a tree or a branch or even a truck being flipped or turned around on its back, but we were miles from a road and if it was a branch it was a pretty big one. So it was fifteen minutes until my shift was over and I was so tired that I couldn't finish my shift, so I went and got Billy,
He just turned and left without a word. I touched Lennie’s grave. The rough touch of the wood deflecting to my fingers. I walked back to the ranch. Everyone was asleep. I wanted to run away tomorrow but I couldn’t let this chance pass up. It also prevented any chance of Candy following me. I tiptoed out of the room and went straight to the woods. I made sure to mix myself in with the shadows of the trees. I saw the river and It felt like I did it...until I felt something grab me by my neck. I quickly got flipped over and pushed to the ground.
A year before my encounter, my sister Faith and I were behind our house about a mile deep into the woods. We were playing hide and go seek, and iit was my turn to find her! I couldn’t find her anywhere and then thats when I saw the bush. It looked trampled so I ran to it, only to find my twelve year old sister lying in the snow in a puddle of her own blood. Her throat was ripped open, it looked like a wild animal had taken a bite out of her.
The snow curled in my hair and rushed against my rose red cheeks. My heart pounded and my stomach glitched up and down like a pixel. The lift dodged by a big old yellow sign reading: “The Sweet Express.” The words willowed in my mind over and over again. As if it was digging into my brain and placing itself in the category labeled fear.
As I stood next to the goat pen, I noticed my dad in his grey pickup sped into our driveway. His vehicle being followed by several others with flashing lights, although the last vehicle scared me the most. It was an ambulance. I remember being so scared I couldn't move at all, I was speechless. When I
The arrival of winter was well on its way. Colorful leaves had turned to brown and fallen from the branches of the trees. The sky opened to a new brightness with the disappearance of the leaves. As John drove down the country road he was much more aware of all his surroundings. He grew up in this small town and knew he would live there forever. He knew every landmark in this area. This place is where he grew up and experienced many adventures. The new journey of his life was exciting, but then he also had a sick feeling in the pit of his stomach of something not right.
Before that night, I didn’t believe in the paranormal. Now I sure as heck do. I had been chased out of my house after a fight with my step-parents because I wasn’t doing well in school (I had dyslexia), and I had taken shelter in what seemed like a normal house. I realized what I had gotten into after the sun set. The doors were locked without a sign of anyone going near them.
The silence was deafening… with each step, the lump in my throat was expanding, almost ridding me of all oxygen. My heart was pounding erratically and my hand, firmly gripping Scout’s costume was now soaked in perspiration. Amidst the overcast night, a dark shadow consumed Maycomb. The thick air was a blanket of humidity that offered not security, but the assurance of a storm. The pageant was but a distant memory by this point. We had only left a few minutes earlier but my thoughts were congested by an uneasy presence. The warm wind whispered through the rustling leaves. They seemed to dance about my feet, which wouldn’t have been so bad, had the night not been pitch black and unnerving. Instead, it felt as though I could tumble at any moment. I was immensely regretting my decision to reject a ride home when Scout burst,
What is the first thing coming up in your mind when you hear “Indonesia”? How about “India”? It is over and over to find people think that Indonesia and India are two similar countries, because of their look-alike names. However, if you look at the map or recall a little history, you will absolutely confirm if both are actually different country, yet some similarities do exist. Besides lying in the same continent, Asia, these countries are on the top list of the most populous countries in the world. Moreover, these two countries are known for their amazing nature and varied cultures, such as food, language, dances, landscape, or traditional apparel. India has a garment that consists of a drape varying from
A shrill cry echoed in the mist. I ducked, looking for a sign of movement. The heavy fog and cold storm provided nothing but a blanket, smothering all sight and creating a humid atmosphere. The freezing air continued to whip at my face, relentless and powerful. Our boat, stuck in the boggy water. Again a cry called. Somewhere out there was someone, or something.
I woke up at around nine twentyish on Sunday, and I was glad I had time to sleep in fore about another hour. So I drearily shut my eyes, and went back to sleep for an hour. In what felt like ten minutes, I heard, “Get up! We’re going pumpkin picking today!” I lifted my feet out of my bed, and they carried me to my dresser.
With music blasting, voices singing and talking, it was another typical ride to school with my sister. Because of our belated departure, I went fast, too fast. We started down the first road to our destination. This road is about three miles long and filled with little hills. As we broke the top of one of the small, blind hills in the middle of the right lane was a dead deer. Without any thought, purely by instinct I pulled the wheel of the car to the left and back over to the right. No big deal but I was going fast. The car swerved back to the left, to the right, to the left. Each time I could feel the car scratching the earth with its side. My body jolted with the sporadic movements of the car. The car swerved to the right for the last time. With my eyes sealed tight, I could feel my body float off the seat of the car.
My story started about a week ago. I was heading to bed early, because I was tired from a long day with plans to wake up a few hours before class to review for a test. As I closed my books for the evening and headed to bed around midnight, little did I know something was going on outside.
I looked upward towards the midnight colored sky at the bright specks of light that seem to organize themselves into what we call constellations. The talking and laughing of my mom and brother are what pull my gaze from the beautiful night sky towards the bright crackling campfire and the smell of the smoky wood that is being slowly eaten by the flames. The sweet smell of the marshmallows roasting and the warmth of the blazing fire beacon me towards it as it is a cold fall night. The wind rustles the leaves of the trees and the smell of pine meets my nose as the wind pulls the leaves off of the trees nearby. I sit in the folding chair set up near the fire and I reach out letting the flames warm my cold hands.
I have been avoiding writing this post. There is something about the first discovery that is more difficult to discuss than any other subsequent discovery. It is deeply personal, and even though it has almost been 11 years it is like a movie that I have seen & re-live just about every day since. As the years have gone on, my view of that day changes. I can watch it more detached than in the initial years. This my attempt to re tell that day as best as I can.
I looked up at the black sky. I hadn't intended to be out this late. The sun had set, and the empty road ahead had no streetlights. I knew I was in for a dark journey home. I had decided that by traveling through the forest would be the quickest way home. Minutes passed, yet it seemed like hours and days. The farther I traveled into the forest, the darker it seemed to get. I was very had to even take a breath due to the stifling air. The only sound familiar to me was the quickening beat of my own heart, which felt as though it was about to come through my chest. I began to whistled to take my mind off the eerie noises I was hearing. In this kind of darkness I was in, it was hard for me to believe that I could be seeing these long finger shaped shadows that stretched out to me. I had this gut feeling as though something was following me, but I assured myself that I was the only one in the forest. At least I had hoped that I was.
