While objectives in the Late Phase research group are focused on anemia studies and improvements to treatments of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), business analysts could be useful in the assessment of strategic business initiatives. As a large dialysis organization, the overall improvement of medical treatment for patients on dialysis is an important part of the company's goals. The Finance team, for example, is in regular, if not constant communication with the Analyst team, to confirm actual work completed by research sites and approval of payment to sites participating in research. Research site fees during start-up, confirmation of subject visits through Electronic Data Capture tools, and payment approvals through the Clinical Trial Management System are all communicated to the Finance team from the Business Analyst team. The Project Management team also depends heavily on the Business Analyst team during the feasibility period of setting up a clinical trial, as the BA can access de-identified data and can consult on operational considerations crucial to a potential trial. The Business Analyst can also come in as a Subject Matter Expert when setting up fixed and variable budgets in relation to a protocol and will be a point of contact for research sites inputting billing data related to randomized subjects and subject visits, thereby being the first in line to identify any potential billing issues affected by protocol
