Sozi Hassan Taha October 14, 2016 War Throughout the history of humanity, we can notice that there were many wars that happened over territories, or between countries; for example, World War One and World War Two which were the two deadliest and worst wars in the history. Basically, war occurs because of power, natural resources, and wealth; it is a fact that human in general wants to gain more and have more power. After reading all the sources that are provided I realized that even though the most important aspects of war are strategies, there will be expense of war and human losses. In the example below, I will explain the advantages of using tricks. Sun Pin planned a tactic to kill Pang Chuan; his trick was engaging Pang Chuan to go near a tree so that they can injure Pang Chuan with arrow and kill him. According to "The Art of War," Tu Mu wrote, " Here he had a tree stripped of its bark, and inscribed upon it the words: "Under this tree shall P'ang Chuan die." Then, as night began to fall he placed a strong body of archers in ambush near by, with orders to shoot directly they saw a light" (Tu Mu). As a result of this trick, he killed Pang Chuan and his army disordered. This means that Sun Pin's plan to kill him was because he was sure that Pang Chuan's army will be affected by his death and will lose without him, and Sun Pin can easily win. I can compare that to the battle of Kadesh. This source is not a reliable source because it was written by the Egyptians, and they might be biased about their history. However, I will use this source to show that many leaders did not have good plans to use in battle so that they can defeat enemies. For example, Ramses II in the battle, he did not have a good strategy to fight against Hittite, and suddenly he realized that he is surrounded by his enemy. According to "Accounts of the battle of Kadish," "His majesty halted in the rout; then he charged into the foe, the vanquished of Kheta, being alone by himself and none other with him. When his majesty went to look behind him, he found 2,500 chariotry surrounding him, in his way out" (The Battle of Kadish). Even though his army came to help him, and they won in the battle, it is not always the case that miracles will happen. The leaders should have strategies in order to be ready, and the not to rush during the war. So, it is always good to have a plan and follow them even if the plan is not perfect, or
