In the film I am Alive, I observed how the passengers were so unprepared for a crash, how they delayed in seeking out help, and how the survivors assumed they were closer to Chile than they really were. Through these observations, I learned to be prepared for the worst in every situation, to take prompt action if I find myself in a perilous situation, and to never assume when it comes to matters of life and death.
I learned to be prepared in unexpected situations because you never know what will happen within that time frame it being 10 minutes or 24 hours. Such as, since I live in Colorado if I'm going to be driving through snow I would bring some water, check weather reports, and bring extra clothes in case I were to get caught in a blizzard, like the two men who travel across the Andes to find help for their fellow friends, they bring along supplies to help them survive. Many people never second think about what they are going to do and what their getting into, people always need to think about situations they might be entering and what might happen to them, because it could end tragically.

In this paper the researcher will be discussing the film entitled: Alive, which includes a group of individuals who are involved in a terrible plane crash to ban together to help keep on another alive. This paper will touch on the struggles of each individual as they fight to overcome their own fear, anxiety, and pride to save others.
The obvious choice would be to save oneself. This was the case for a woman who was in an airplane when it crashed on landing. The woman described the scene where many people were frozen, screaming, and not knowing of what to do. When the woman realized "that the people around her were too paralyzed to react, she took direct action, crawling over several rows of people to get to the exit. She got out of the plane and survived" (Lane Wallace, 318). When the woman saw that no one was doing anything for themselves or other to survive, she took matters into her own hand to get to safety. If she were to stay and help others, she too would most likely to have died along with the people who did not take matters into their own hand. She assessed the available choices her situation gave her. In the end, the woman chose the most logical option she could have in that situation. Another instance in where survival was the smart choice in the case of Simon Yates, a mountain climber. Yates was climbing with his climbing partner when his partner got harshly injured. Yates and Simpson, his partner, "ended up hanging off a cliff, unable to climb up, and Yates, unable to lift him up and losing his own grip on the mountain, ended up cutting the rope to Simpson to save himself" (Lane Wallace, 319). Even though Yates cut
Life decisions are at times hard to make, but we have to choose to define the path which we want our lives to follow. As we have seen in the paper, Michael’s situation where he had to seek more information from her guardian Anne and her maternal mother before making his decision is a good example of rational decision-making procedure. It gives us a lesson that we should take our time to think about the decisions we make in life. In my case, it’s a good example of a decision well
Symbolism was employed throughout the film to highlight the importance of sticking with instinct while facing uneasiness in decision making. Characterization was also and important literary element which demonstrated how fixating a substantial amount of time and effort into what is manageable and looking forward in life in order to be surrounded with ease and better a situation. The ability to strategically create sound decisions in environments that are filled with uncertain situations is crucial throughout life, and following simple methods will pave the path to
In today’s world, everyone has a sense of security that is born from the technological developments that science has given to society. While they may feel safe, there are much larger threats of disaster that people are not prepared for. These include natural disaster and human error. Deep Survival by Laurence Gonzales aims to educate the people on how to better protect themselves and prevent death. The novel accomplishes this through sharing personal stories and stories of others who have survived near death experiences. This is an important subject in our culture and its importance is verified by professional reviews. To further express this importance, there are a plethora of popular television shows in pop culture that seek to entertain as well as educate its audience. Although modern technology makes it feel relatively easy to avoid and escape life threatening situations, basic survival skills, like those taught in Deep Survival by Laurence Gonzales, are a useful tool to have in any situation. These thoughts are reflected in qualified book reviews that further show the significance of the subject in today’s society.
We need to make many decisions while living our lives. Sometimes, it is very trivial that it does not take long. In this case, we do not need to think deeply by spending much time on it. Even if there is something wrong, we can fix it. But, sometimes, it is so complicated and huge that our decision impacts not only us but also others who are not really related to it. From the movie “Margin Call”, we can learn how we should make decisions considering others.
1. We should choose the action(s) that we feel, with good reason, will benefit us more than any other choice
“The greatest risk is to risk nothing at all.” Life can be very challenging, when you’re in a uncomfortable situation, in which people tend to to do what they believed was un-accomplishable. With every three hundred sixty-five days comes an opportunity, for you to either say ‘I wish” or “ did”.

Every moment in one?s life should not be passed by, but cherished as if it were to be the last moment they live. Taking time to think about the next step in your life is cherishing your life. The choice made in every moment of life will end up affecting you good or bad. One needs to realize that they need to think two steps ahead instead of one and end up falling behind. That is why I have taken the liberty to measure the pros and cons of a tremendous decision about to be made.
...old. I also learned that when things do not turn out the way we expected, or when things all the sudden turn down-side, we should react with calmness and composure and not just cry and burst out with our immediate feelings. Patience is the keyword.
...ather than being the annoying borrower. This preparedness has spread too many aspects of my life. It has caused me to think ahead of situations and predict what I may need before entering a scenario. Since beginning college, I have become a much more proactive and prepared individual.
Running into challenges displayed to me the complexities of experiential learning. There is a certain amount of trial and error required to perform experiential learning. When one technique does not work we need to change the way we approach the situation. I felt as though I was steering a boat that represented my learning plan. I had to adjust the sails as I saw fit and sometimes that boat was nowhere near its destination, rather it was in the middle of the ocean. Reviewing my initial action plan to answering my questions showed me how little I knew about my host country as well and how naïve I was. A lot my approaches required human interaction and assumed quick results. With the use of the experiential learning cycle, as I began to understand the environment I was in I also learned how to take action within
Furthermore, I learned to manage time efficiently and adapt to the changing situation in life
Decision making can be seen as a skill. Many people view it as an easy everyday thing, but to some it is harder. It is not always naturally apparent to some. Some are born leaders and easily make decisions and some just are not. Just make sure to evaluate the situation previous to making a decision that could hurt you or others.
