In both sports, training, having a good season, using appropriate uniforms and equipments are needed. Both sports use uniforms, sports shoes, water bottles and an adequate weight to train. However, these sports have some significant differences as well as similarities. One of the differences is the net. In Basketball, for example, the hoop is 18 inches in diameter and 10 feet high located in both sides of the court. On the contrary, the net in Volleyball is 39 inches tall and 32 feet long; this provides one foot of netting on each side of the court. Another important difference is the ball. In Basketball, the ball has an inflatable inner rubber bladder wrapped in layers of fiber and covered with a tacky surface made with leather, rubber, or
Why should 12-14 year old girls be able to wear their school provided cheerleading uniform to school? You open the closet trying to find something to wear to school, but then you remember that tight, uncomfortable outfit that you have to wear to school that day. Your cheerleading uniform! You want to run away but you already know that you have to wear it or face the consequences (even if that means getting kicked off the team!). Twelve through fourteen-year-old girls should not be able to wear cheer uniforms to school. There are many complaints about the uniforms that girls are forced to wear. Some complain that they are very uncomfortable especially during the cold and windy weather. It’s like they are in prison! Students have clothes that express them in detail, color, or even style. People should never be separated from what they like, and schools should definitely
There was a Canadian man name Dr. James Naismith, a physical education professor and instructor at the men Christian Association training school. He was trying to keep his gym class to stay active while it was raining that day at school, so he decided to think of some indoor activity that his class could do, then he finally came up the basic rules and nailed a peach basket to a10-foot 3.0 m elevated track. The Peach basket had its bottom still so you had to get the ball out of the basket manually this proved inefficient, however, so the bottom of the basket was removed, allowing the balls to be poked out with a long dowel each time. They use to play basketball with a soccer ball back in that time,These round balls from association football were made, at the time, with a set of laces to close off the hole needed for inserting the
Dress Code Implementation Into the NBA The controversial issue as of late is whether or not a dress code should be implemented into the NBA. These athletes are being paid millions of dollars a year and serve as role models to children all over the world. For these reasons it is essential that a dress code be implemented into the NBA. Last year during the Olympics, at one of Belgrade’s finest restaurants, Allen Iverson, Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James and many other U.S. players attended a dinner in their honor.
Volleyball is a great sport, it is very fun!! The attire for volleyball is a jersey, shorts, knee pads and special volleyball shoes. Some equipment that you need to play volleyball with, first of all you need a net, ball, 6 players on a court, court, referee,
As you can see there are many differences and similarities within two sports. For example, one has contact and the other does not have any contact. Also, the equipment is a lot stricter than the other. Last, both sports are just for families to connect and to have fun with each
Finally, Basketball and Volleyball are two very popular sports and they are played by both genders. They both have followers and fans, but one of them has a greater amount of fans than the other one. There are many similarities in these sports such as the audience, followers and fans, and that both sports are played by boys/men and girls/women. Despite of having these similarities, they also have differences that distinguish them from each other, too. Basketball is a recognized sport from around the world and its popularity has been growing over the years compared to Volleyball, that is not very popular and it is not a game that people would choose to play with others. In addition to this difference, the physical contact in these sports is important, too.
Parents and their children are constantly arguing about the way students dress in school. This debate has become a national conversation which has been going on for more than a decade. However, there still hasn’t been a final resolution. The questions “Why do I have to wear the uniform today?” or “Can I wear this t-shirt because the color matches with my school t-shirt?” have become part of our everyday lives. Before we go any further, we have to understand the difference between uniforms and dress codes. A uniform is simply a garment worn that is the same in all cases and at all times. Whereas, a dress code is a set of rules regarding the required manner of clothing in a certain context. For instance, a school might not allow students to wear
At first glance, fashion might seem to have very little to do with learning, but as the saying goes, “The clothes make the man,” or in this case “The clothes makes the student”— mandatory uniform policy has made a distinct difference in many schools everywhere. Throughout the last decade, the implementation of such rulings has been on the rise, bringing about waves of debate among students, parents, and teachers. Today, as the number of incidents related to bullying, teen suicides, and gang violence continue to escalate, it has become necessary for educators to provide students with emotional and social support, as well as the traditional academic curriculum. In the interest of reducing these negative effects, school uniforms became a simple yet effective solution to help cultivate a more positive learning environment. Evidence will confirm that a mandatory school uniform policy is an essential piece of a comprehensive approach that can raise self-discipline and academic achievement to a higher standard.
Illustrating the arrangement of players mathematically requires that one understand the standard dimensions of a volleyball court. According to Lithio and Webb (2006), a standard volleyball court resembles a rectangle, which is 59 ft long by 29 ft, 6 in. wide. A net, centrally placed, separates the court into two squares. Stretching from the end of every side of the volleyball court is an area from which the ball is served, at least 6 ft wide. A player can stand in any region of this area to serve (consider figure 1) (Lithio & Webb, 2006).
The goal of this sport is to send the ball over the net so the rival team you are up against are incapable of returning the ball or blocking it from touching the ground in their court (“Volleyball - Mr Haering.”). Both teams have three chances of returning the ball. The object of this game seems pretty simple, enough. Yet, it requires a lot of physical contact, skills, and moves amongst the players. Players must be skilled at digging, diving, and swerving. Digging happens when a player makes a save from a very difficult spike. Diving, on the other hand, occurs when a player dives for a ball on defense. If these moves are not orchestrated properly, concussions have the potential to arise. In the medical-sport journal article entitled “Concussions Among 20 High School Sports”, studies were conducted to find patterns of concussion injuries. In
What are the utilitarian aspects of a “cheerleading uniform”? Are they the stripes, lines, and patterns that adorn them? Or is the qualifying factor the moisture-wicking, flexible fabric that determines the function of the uniform? This is what the Supreme Court is being asked to answer. However, the repercussions of their decision run deeper than just within the cheerleading community. The Supreme Court will be determining what intellectual property protections are available for members of the fashion industry, specifically if design features can earn copyright protection. Furthermore, they must decide if it is possible to rely on a two-pronged test to determine if an article’s design features may be copyrighted. Articles of clothing are means of creative expression that are the equal of works of poetry, music, and novels, and as such they should be entitled to the same intellectual property rights, including copyright protection.
To begin, football and basketball have many differences. One being that football consists of eleven players on the field per team, which contain different positions for offense and defense. Whereas basketball only has five players on the court per team, which include a center, two forwards, and two guards for both defense and offense. The biggest difference between both sports are the legal aspects of what is allowed. For instance, you run, throw, catch and tackle in football. On the other hand, you dribble, catch, shoot, and steal in basketball. There is also a difference in the objects used to play each sport. In basketball, one makes
Basketball a sport that is played throughout the whole world. When playing this sport all you need is a ball and basket. Though the basket does have to be a certain height kids play it in their classroom or outside. What I mean by this is that kids and even adults in the office treat a trash can as a basket and whatever their trash is as a ball. I got interested in this sport when I was in middle school in eighth grade moving on to high school. I was never interested in basketball until I played it with a group of kids who today are still my friends.
At the beginning of the 20th century almost no parent or faculty had any concerns with how students dressed to attend school. Nowadays, though, this is a giant concern among students, parents, and school board officials. Many arguments have been made over the matter saying uniforms should be required and enforced in schools. But, uniforms should not be required as they ultimately eliminate freedom of expression, promote conformity over individuality, may have a detrimental effect on students self image, emphasize the socioeconomic divisions they are supposed to eliminate, and lastly, school uniforms in public schools undermine the promise of a free education by adding an extra expense for families.
School uniforms in public schools are becoming increasingly popular across the nation. The public school system would benefit greatly if this policy were to be adopted. Opposition is always a factor when trying to make changes. Taking all things into consideration, the positive effects would be far greater than the negative effects. School uniforms should be required in public schools because their use would lead to higher education, less violence, and lower cost to parents.
