According to the philosophers, ethics is defined as a rule of conduct that is a way of showing and recognizing respect to a particular class of human actions or a particular group of culture. It is important to determine the unethical behavior that unconcerned people does not understand especially in a workplace. In a work environment, an employee has the right to expect colleagues to act and live up according to the law. There are reasons why employees are driven to make unethical decision to break the norm and begin behaving in an immoral ways. Some of the many reasons why employees in a workplace do cross the line and act unethically includes: pressure, misguided loyalty, and misrepresentation. This can be a result to drive people especially employee to do things hat they would not usually do. Some of the causes why pressure can lead employees to engage in unethical activities are the pressure to succeed and get ahead to colleagues. For example, in a department store setting, the boss threatens the employee who works in the shoe department. The boss said that he would fire the shoe associate unless the associate sells fifty rubber shoes in a day. The store associate knows that boots are in demand than rubber shoes lately since it is winter season. As an effect of this unethical action, to keep the job, the store associate will violate his conscience and recommend customers to buy the rubber shoes. The boss is engaging in an unethical behavior by the way of threatening the store associate to do something that is wrong. This also shows that the boss is risking the potential loss of customers to meet their sales goal. This behavior can result in sexual harassment and lawsuits. The reasons for this unethical behavior is they are not proud of what job they had, and they do not like what job they are doing. For example, a sales associate earns lucrative commissions whenever they sell a product for their employers. These sometimes can leads to employees misinterpret their selves to make sales. With characters that are relatable to any office environment, The Office does cause many to question the violation of ethics in this sitcom. The show features Michael Scott the manager at Dunder Mifflin, who is the center of many questionable actions. Because every show needs a good love story; Pam and Jim are introduced as the office lovers who win the award for “relationship goals”. Their organizational initiatives are often self-serving; however, the emerging workforce isn’t motivated by selfish managers. This selfish behavior often turns into unethical conduct. I certainly agree to the author and McNerney that the unethical dysfunctional company norm is the root cause of the ethical issue. Ethics in business is a highly important concept, as it can affect a company’s profits, salaries paid to employees and CEOs, and public opinion, among many other aspects of a business. Ethics can be enforced by company policies and guidelines, set a precedent when a company is faced with an important decision, and are also evolving thanks to new technology and situations that arise due to technology usage. Businesses have a duty to maintain their ethical responsibilities and also to help their employees enforce these responsibilities in and out of the workplace. However, ethics and the foundation for them are not always black and white. There are many different ethical theories, however Utilitarianism, Kant’s Deontological ethics, and Virtue ethics are three of the most well known theories in existence. Ethical behavior is behavior that a person considers to be appropriate. A person’s moral principals are shaped from birth, and developed overtime throughout the person’s life. In Module 1, Kindred Todd faced quite a few ethical dilemmas that included her values and technical ineptness. The first predicament was tested her personal morals and ethics. According to, Cumming and Worley, OD practitioners are dealing more and more with value conflicts with powerful outside groups (Cummings & Worley, 2008). Kindred was immediately faced with the issue of knowing what was ethically correct but being told the unethical approach was the best in order to benefit the client and her job security. Although compromising is one of the many skills of organization developers there are still morals that should be followed on each assignment. Kindred, know that deceiving the clients was unethical, took the first step to working on behalf of the client and immediately involved her superior, Larry, to resolve a potential conflict In the project. While her actions went in vain when she told her boss to remove her from the project and provide the client with a more qualified resource, Kindred did what she thought to be the best approach.
Workplace deviance is a voluntary unethical behavior that disobeys organizational norms about wrong and right, and in doing so, threatens the wellbeing of the organization, and/or its members(Robinson and Bennett 555-572). According to Robinson and Bennett, “workplace deviances behavior varies along two dimensions: minor versus serious, and interpersonal (deviant behavior directed at other individuals in the organization) versus organizational (deviant behavior directed at the organization)” (555-572). Based on these dimensions it was further divided, into four categories: production deviance (leaving early, wasting resources etc.), property deviance (stealing ,destroying equipment etc.), political deviance (gossiping, favoritism etc.), and personal aggression (verbal abuse ,sexual harassment etc.) (Robinson and Bennett 555-572).According to Robinson and Bennett,workplace deviant behaviors cost U.S. companies approximately between $6 billion and $200 billion annually(555-572). In addition turnover, absences, and illness, and results in poor or lowered productivity, low morale, and litigation ., workplace deviances leads to misuse and loss of time, waste of resources, increases employee(Robinson and Bennett 555-572) .
Ethics deals with actions with adequate standard of attitudes, behavior that is pleasing to the people or organizations. Every job has a code of ethical conduct that is supposed to be is followed. It is very necessary to understand that ethical rules must apply and obey with basis of what is right and wrong which is written in the law. That is why there are professions that have organizations or associations which have the method of ethical conducts or standard.
Some of the common causes of unethical behavior in the workplace are: 1) extreme emphasis on profits, 2) loss of corporate loyalty, 3) fixation on personal advancement, 4) probability of not getting caught, 5) immoral quality set by top management, 6) indecision about whether act is wrong, and 7) reluctance to stand up for what is right

Ethics is the responsibility of each individual person, but starts with the CEO and the Board of Directors, setting the right tone at the top and moves down through the organization, including setting the tone in the middle.
