I would agree that the welfare system is a “broken system”, but I wouldn’t necessarily say that the welfare system needs to be “wiped out” before it can be improved. The welfare system is a large system and within that large system there are parts of the system that works well and there are parts that need additions and changes made to be more effective system with assisting individuals to become self-sufficient. Additionally, the welfare system needs to undergo change to become a more efficient system.
For what has been a very, very long time, our elected representatives have sought to achieve “full employment” as a national goal….but full employment has been suspect as a possible cause of inflation, and is therefore weakened by decisions of the Federal Reserve, in an attempt to retard inflation. In terms of causes, unemployment has changed; the character, degree of severity, possible solutions of unemployment over the last ten years or so have been reduced, and has morphed in terms of just who is experiencing the unemployment and the suggestions for answering the problem. It has been the traditional fundamental trades, like manufacturing, viewed as part of the shift in the economy towards the new information age model, as workers transition from a manufacturing economy to a service economy, all the while over-coming the obstacles set forth by our own government.
Simply put unemployment is basically the act of not being employed. In the United States there are several different ways that one can label being unemployed based on the economy of our country at the time. Throughout history we have gone through many different depressions, recessions, and hard times all together. The first major hit this country took was when the stock markets crashed and sent the economy straight down into the sewers. It was called the Great Depression. Many people suffered and it caused suffering this country had never seen before, so many people fell to poverty level. This depression lasted from 1929 to 1941. Most recently America went through what is now called the Great Recession. This started in 2007 and ended June 2009. The general cause was due to the general decrease in the global markets around the world and was the greatest economic turnover since the Great Depression. This nineteen month long recession was what brought about the unemployment status that America is still adjusting too. The unemployment rate reached anywhere from 10 to 15% which is particularly high for our country to endure. By June 2010, the United States government decreased the unemployment rate down to 5%.
As Canadian's fertility rate fells, baby boomers retires, immigration and foreign workers becomes very important for the increase of labor demands in the Canadian's job market. The government is planning to reduce the application waiting time and therefore there will be more newcomers coming in the next fewer years. Canadian companies will then have many experienced and foreign trained applicants where they can help Canadian companies to increase their foreign trade and to build a better relationship with the other country. However, new comers have difficulties in finding employment because of their unrecognized foreign qualifications, non Canadian work experienced and the lack of support in the settlement programs where they get help to find employment.
People need money to purchase all kinds of goods and services they needed every day and sometimes, for goods or services they desire to own. To fulfill that, they have the essential need to earn money. In order to earn money, they must work in either in fields related to their interests or to their qualifications. However, people will meet different challenges during their jobs-hunting sessions, such as many candidates competing for a job vacancy; salaries offered are lower than expected salaries and economic crisis or down which causes unemployment. Unemployment is what we will be looking into in this report. Dwidedi (2010) stated that unemployment is defined as not much job vacancies are available to fulfill the amount of people who want to work and can work according to the current pay they can get for a job they chose to work as. There are four major types of unemployment: frictional, structural, cyclical and seasonal unemployment.
Already South Korea is going for its third straight year it when up to 9.2 percent in 2015. The unemployment in South Korea is caused by the great divide in their labor market. It’s very hard to hold a permanent job. This is why employees are categorized in two categories: the ones who have permanent jobs and then there’s the temporary workers. As a result, towards young people it’s hard for them to find a stable career or just a secure permanent job.
Layoffs are one means by which an organization can reduce expenses with the intent of improving its bottom line. Despite being typically performed as a last resort, layoffs often have a negative impact on the remaining workforce. As a manager, there are numerous areas for concern in managing the workforce going forward. The human costs related to downsizing are “immense and far-reaching” with one of the most profound being survivor syndrome according to Hanson (2015, p. 187). Also known as survivor’s guilt, this condition relates to the emotions felt by those still employed and some of the effects include decreased motivation, moral, and job satisfaction, as well as an increased proclivity to search for other employment. This volunteer turnover being another grave concern for managers, and retention of the remaining workforce is usually dependent on their existing perception of the organization and its culture (Sitlington & Marshall, 2011). Unemployment issue can lead to a lot of impacts to the economic growth. Higher unemployment rate will lead to increase government borrowing. When people are without their job, they would paid less in the income tax. So, it will cause a drop in tax revenue because there are lesser people paying income tax and spending less. Due to the loss of earnings to the unemployed, the government need to spend more subsidy for them in housing benefits and income support.
In December 2007, the United States of America experienced a very scarce yet appealing setback. In fact, because of this specific dilemma between 200,000 and 500,000 were left unemployed and without a stable home. The national Bureau of the Economic research defined this nationwide downfall as “The great recession”. According to the U.S Bureau of labor statistics the unemployment rate has not made a drastic improvement since the start of the great recession. Unemployment has become that is still rising today with a slow rate of change. Unemployment is usually expressed as a number or as a percentage of a larger number. Although it has been ambiguous who has to be included in the percentage, there are members of society without a job, for whom it is certain that should not be added. Officially the unemployed are the people who are registered with the government as willing to work and able to work at a going wage rate but can’t find suitable employment despite an active search for work. In the article “why long-time employment can’t get back on track”, the author begins speaking on a ...

The effect of the unemployment on our society not only affects the person themselves, but it affects the society where an individual lives. Unemployment comes with uncertainty, doubt, unhappiness and anguish. People are suddenly force to live their lives in a way they’re not accustomed to due to the loss of income.
It is also impossible to encourage workers. In recession, company try to less employees for preventing deficit in business. And company also less amount of salaries however employees can sustain in. Because of losing job, people have to be homeless and suicide because how could people live with no job? The main reasons of crimes are moneyless. Welfare is given for people who have no money and no job, the amount of money for welfare will up. Obviously, social spending cannot less in this situation. Like this, bad idea to spend less money and high tax in recession.
