Understanding Product Knowledge When Purchasing a Computer
Buying a computer seems like a daunting task to many. There are many factors to consider when making a purchase. Brand name, functionality, speed and customer support are just some of the factors that one must consider when researching the options. In order to wisely purchase a computer, one must attain a considerable amount of product knowledge, to get the most value for their dollar.
Consumers have different levels of product knowledge, which they can use to interpret information and make product choices. (Peter 64) When researching computers, product knowledge could range in consumers minds from abstract to less abstract thoughts about the options. Within this scope of abstract to less abstract options could be 4 sub-categories of product knowledge. These include product class, product form, brand name and the model or features.
The most abstract and first of the four categories is product class. This is the most basic of the four categories. Simply for this demonstration, the product class being discussed is a desktop computer or generally the product type. Now this class differs slightly from some other similar computing product classes such as laptop computers, mainframes and personal digital assistants (PDA’s).
The second of the four sub-categories is product form. The basic product form differentiation that one must make is what do you need a computer for and if you need a home-based PC or business-based PC. This would be considered identifying the product class, a home-based system versus a business based-one. The fact is that the average home user who needs a general-purpose PC to go on the Internet and run productivity applications differs little from the average worker in an office. “Indeed, the actual features in a vendor's business line does not differ much from what's in the home, except at the extreme end of the spectrum, such as a non-upgradeable closed-box corporate PC versus a loaded gamer's system with all the entertainment trappings that a business user would find superfluous.” (MSN) If the computer is strictly for business or word processing purposes and will rarely be relied upon for gaming and multi-media applications than sound and graphics components are less important because there's little need to keep up with the newest games that require the best graphics and sound components.
Eventually, Siddhartha decides to attempt the teachings of Buddha. However, this lifestyle leaves him unsatisfied as well. Even though Siddhartha decides not to follow the teachings of Buddha, he says, "I have seen one man, one man only, before whom I must lower my eyes. I will never lower my eyes before any other man. Siddhartha has been searching for fulfillment all his life. Though he was the most scholarly and respected Brahmin, this did not satisfy him. He drank knowledge, yet still felt ignorant. He could not find peace. He could not find fulfillment. His journey is essentially one of trial and error, suffering, mistakes, and rebirth.
History shows that there has been conflict of power within the workforce between union and management. This essay will discuss if management should have the right to determine whether a union should operate within their workplace. It is necessary first to discuss the roles of unions and management in the workplace and discuss both points of view on the power distribution between unions and management in the workplace.
So he leaves Kamaswami and Kamala and goes back to the river to meet up with the ferryman, Vasudeva. Vasudeva takes Siddhartha into his hut again and agrees to teach Siddhartha everything he knows. The first and main element he teaches Siddhartha to do is to listen to the river and everything it has to say. Vasudeva tells Siddhartha, “The river has taught me to listen; you will learn from it, too. The river knows everything; one can learn everything from it. You have already learned from the river that is good to strive downwards, to sink, to seek the depths. The rich and distinguished Siddhartha will become a rower; Siddhartha the learned Brahmin will become a ferryman” (Hesse 86). At the beginning of the novel, Vasudeva gives Siddhartha a ride on his ferryboat and when Siddhartha realizes he does not have enough money, Vasudeva tells him that it is fine and that he will be back one day to repay him, as he does towards the end of the novel. Eventually, as Vasudeva teaches Siddhartha everything he knows, they become equals. Vasudeva then decides that his time being the ferryman and helping others, is over and proclaims, “I have waited for this hour, my friend. Now that it has arrived, let me go. I have been Vasudeva, the ferryman, for a long time. Now it is over. Farewell hut, farewell river, farewell Siddhartha… I am going into the unity of things” (Hesse 111). As
In fact, two parts in Siddhartha correspond to the Buddha’s doctrine. The first part is the four chapters which deal with The Four Noble Truth: The truth of suffering, the truth of the origin of suffering, the truth of the cessation of suffering, and the truth of the path that leads to the cessation of suffering. Siddhartha suffers from his own ego and the human curiosity, he wants to have an empty heart, which he thinks leads to the true Enlightenment. After realizing that the spiritual world in which he can fight himself won 't lead him to Nirvana, he decides to leave. He gets scolded from the Brahmins, Samanas, and even the Buddha, but his hypnotic gaze lets them know that they cannot give him what he needs and there is no purpose of keeping him. The Buddha only teaches how to end suffering by joining the path of the Buddha but not reaching enlightenment with him. Since Buddha too attained enlightenment by himself he understood he couldn 't be of any help to the bright Brahmin-Siddhartha. After leaving all the instructors, he comes to understanding that he must learn himself from the world today and now, which becomes his first awakening. The second part is the next eight chapters that recall the Eightfold Path, which describes how to end the suffering described in the Four Noble Truths. Siddhartha 's transitioning to the materialistic world bring him
Siddhartha is a novel about the ultimate quest every man must take in life. The protagonist Siddhartha is on a quest of the self. The ultimate question, why are we here? He is on a quest to lose one self and find Nirvana. Which religion or way of living is the most divine? He is also on a quest to achieve enlightenment. The author of this novel is Hermann Hesse. He was born in the German Empire in the year of 1877. He wrote Siddhartha in 1922. It has similarities to many other works of the same time period and from the same region. Just like other novels of the same time the themes are clear. Which are issues of religion, morality, and love. In the end we learn it is just the circular cycle of life. The book takes place in India and has many Hindu and Buddhist practices in it. It is said that Hesse wrote many of his books all while trying to cure his “life sickness”. In this analysis I will give a summary of the story, give my analysis of the story, and compare it to other literary works of the same period and location.
Historically the personal computer (PC) industry has sold its products at reasonably high prices yet garnered only small profit margins. One reason for this is the high competition in the PC industry which led to competitive pricing among producers. Analyzing the competitive environment of the PC industry, it is evident that there is very little barrier to entry in this market. PC's have very low physical uniqueness and are made of standard components that require very little expertise to assemble.

The market for Frigidaire's front-loading washing machine should be divided into single segments which can then identify groups of consumers who share commonalities that have the potential to drive demand for the new product. Each segment of the market will have similar needs in quality and performance; they have a semi-uniform response to the marketing mix. The target of Frigidaire's marketing campaign will rely on the hierarchy of each segment's priorities. Typically, a market is segmented to include demographics combined with other behavioral attributes as previously demonstrated in the VALS survey. The information obtained in data collection from these market segments is crucial because the behaviors behinds these groups combined with the presentation of the product are the driving forced behind sales. One technique frequently used is a perceptual map that discerns which features are important to consumers, often called determinant attributes (Business).
The computing system and peripheral devices purchased by this user must be the latest technology in order for him to be successful in his current classes and the courses that he will require in the future.
