Twisted Desires – Chapter Two Here is a little history lesson for you. Ten years. Ten years it has been since supernaturals have come out of hiding. They were tired of being in the shadows just because they were not human. They did not want to take over the world or cause trouble. They just wanted to be able to walk down the street like everyone else. It took humans five years to accept that they mean no harm yet laws were placed to ensure the humankind's safety. The supernaturals were okay with it because the laws also protected the supernaturals from lingering hatred from humans that still did not accept them. Yet, it has been shown that ever since the supernaturals showed themselves to years ago, there has been an increase in crimes. Not caused by supernaturals but by humans themselves. They commit crimes and expect to get away with it just by saying the supernaturals made them do it. Of course that is a lie 90% of the time. The supernaturals keep to themselves most of the time. The 10% of supernaturals that cause trouble are the ones that believe that humans are a useless lower form of life that should be extinct. Therefore, desire is one of the major themes of Bless the Beast and Children. Occasionally, the character did know what he wanted, such as Goodenow. Other times, the character didn’t realize that he wanted something, as is the case with Lally 2. Lastly, it showcases someone’s immaturity, in the case of Cotton’s mom. Yet some people may wonder why this is so relevant in today’s world. These kids’ desires are fueled mostly by the absence of something, or someone. These kids’ predicaments and desires are meant to make us appreciate what we have in our lives. Many of us have parents who love us and care about us. Being isolated from any other group of people with different beliefs created a church led Puritan society that was not able to accept a lot of change. The church was against the devil, at the same time it was against such things as dancing and other premature acts. The reputation of the family was very important to the members of the community. When the girls were caught dancing in the woods, they lied to protect not just themselves but the reputation of their families. They claimed that the devil took them over and influenced them to dance. The girls also said that they saw members of the town standing with the devil. A community living in a puritan society like Salem could easily go into a chaotic state and have a difficult time dealing with what they consider to be the largest form of evil.

For as long as mankind has been around the fascination of savage beasts were greatly integrated through its cultures. The concept of monsters has been used in many historical and ideological context to vilify what society deems abhorrent. Monsters serve as our own depictions of ourselves and the world around us. They challenge our cultural mores and force us to analyze what is within us. The reason why monsters are becoming increasingly popular is because it allows people to break out of social norms and immerse themselves into a world of immorality. Werewolves, in particular, we see are just like humans, facing the same issues we do. They are seeking love, affection, and acceptance, much like us. However, much of their approach may test our
