Tsar Nicholas II of Russia
Most people know that there were multiple important people in World War I. A few of them were Woodrow Wilson, Vittorio Orlando, and George Clemenceau. One major person was Tsar Nicholas II.
Tsar (King) Nicholas II was the last emperor of Russia. His father died at forty-nine, leaving twenty-six year old Nicholas II as the emperor. Nicholas II married Alix of Hesse and by Rhine, who later changed her name to Alexandra Feodorovna, the day after his father’s death. Nicholas II was coronated in 1896 on May 26. His wife, Alexandra Feodorovna, was coronated with him as Tsaritsa (Queen). Nicholas II was mildly famous for calling his wife ‘Sunny’. He was coronated on the night his father died and his coronation was conducted by his father’s personal priest.
World War I started out terribly for Russia. They lost multiple battles in the beginning of the war. Upon hearing this, the Tsar decided the best way to fix this was to appoint himself as commander-in-chief. Every single time the Russians lost a battle, the blame was placed on him. Since he appointed himself commander-in-chief, he spent little time at the

The house was that of a military engineer Nikolay Nikolayevich Ipatiev. The House of Special Purpose, as it is now called, was a two story house with a basement. The family was led into the basement and the former Empress Feodorovna complained about not have a seat so a seat was ordered to be taken into the room. Once the seat was in the room, the executioners entered and told the family they were sentenced to death by the Ural Soviet of Workers´ Deputies. A stunned Nicholas II was noted as saying ¨Wait, What?¨ before the executioners pulled out handguns and started shooting. His daughters survived the first round of bullets because they had 1.3 kilograms of precious gems and metals such as diamonds and rubies sewn into their
Nicholas II ruled Russia from 1894-1917 and was to be its final tsar. He ascended the throne under the impression that he would rule his whole life as it's undisputed leader. Accompanied by his wife, Alexandra, they lived a comfortable life of luxury while the country suffered around them. Nicholas was determined to rule as harshly as his father; however, he was a very weak and incompetent character who did not posses the qualities capable of guiding Russia through its time of turmoil.
Russia is the most responsible for WWI because they were the first to apply pressure on the other countries through mobilization, and their part in the war lead to the involvement of a majority of half of Europe. As mentioned in the video, Russia had no reason to mobilize their troops when the Austrians declared war on Serbia because the Austrians could not ready their forces for another two weeks. Even if the Austrians had mobilized, their attack was on Belgrade, not Russia. Russia was also the first to put a war machine into action and their mobilization left other countries with no other option but to prepare for war. Selfishly, Russia was mainly trying to rebuild nationalism in their politically weakened country after the humiliation they
I can use this source in my research project to defend why Czar Nicholas II is innocent to the abuse of power of the office of Czar.It reveales to me that even thouch Nicholas struggled with being the new Czar he truly did a lot for Russia to improve in learning abilities.Above all else, Nicholas loved Russia first and then his family; He thought the fate of the two was inseparable. No one knew the fault of the Romanov Dynasty better than him. Czar Nicholas sincerely felt his responsibility for the country, He thought that his destiny was within the country he ruled. I think it was really difficult for him but it was the only way to admit his mistakes and to say "sorry" to his people.
The Romanov Empire had reign the Russian Empire for about 300 years before Nicholas II became the monarch. Unfortunately, the new Tsar of Russia was also advised by Konstantin Pobedonostsev, who promoted autocracy, condemned elections, representation and democracy, the jury system, the press, free education, charities, and social reforms; an outdated ideology by the turn of the twentieth century. Although Nicholas II possessed some skills that would have been advantageous as the leader but, overall he was not suitable to be the Tsar of Russia. Even though Czar Nicholas II implemented limited reform that were beneficial for the empire; there were more fiascos during his reign thus lies the collapse of the Romanov Empire on his political skill,
World War I was a time of great hardship and strife for all nations involved. European countries were pitted against each other in a struggle to support their allies, and Britain was thrown into the fray barely a week after the war began. Throughout the four years of war, Britain proved to be an integral part of the Central Powers’ defeat—this, however, would not have been as easy without the assistance of Winston Churchill. A writer, politician, naval officer, and amateur scientist, Winston Churchill greatly influenced the outcome of the war through his time as the head of the British navy, assistance in creating the tank, and involvement with the British government.
World War One was a war that could have been prevented. If all the European powers were to simply act to comply with one another many lives could have been saved and deaths that should have not occurred. A battle mostly between Austro-Hungary and Germany against Serbia, Russia, France, and England, at what cause was some many lives sacrificed for, none, just selfish governments looking to expand their empire. The main perpetrator of World War One was none other than Austro-Hungary. The reasons being for Austro-Hungary to cause the war was that they were the ones to place the ultimatum on Serbia that would lead to declare war and bring in all other countries to fight. Austro-Hungary brought in Germany; beforehand they had a treaty with Germany, the one who was thought to cause the war and why others came into war.
It was Tzar Nicholas 2 political naivete and extreme obstinance that led to the downfall of the Russia
Before 1917 in Russia there was one supreme ruler with full autocratic power, there were no elected policies by law and the tsar was seen to have been put into his position by god. Between 1894-1917 the tsar came under pressure generally not suffered by any of his predecessors. The opposition came from four main sides;
The Romanov family story is one that ends in tragedy and mystery. The Romanov dynasty ruled Russia for over 300 years coming to an end with Nicholas II. The book The Family Romanov: Murder, Rebellion, & The Fall of Imperial Russia, written by Candace Fleming, tells the story of Tsar Nicholas II of how he came to become the Tsar and fell trying to protect his family. Fleming tells the story of young Nicholas coming to power when his father, Alexander III, died and how ill-prepared Nicholas was to rule due to his father’s inferior teaching skills. The story goes on to Nicholas meeting his future wife, Alexandra, and how they had four daughters, Olga, Tatiana, Marie and Anastasia. With each daughter came a disappointment of not having an heir
