Triminoes
Triminoes is a game similar to dominoes. The game is played using
triangular pieces of card. Each card has three numbers on it. Instead
of drawing the triangles I will write the three numbers in brackets
below.
E.g.
(000) (001) (002)
(011) (012)
(022) (111) (112)
(122) (222)
The aim of this investigation will be to:
1. Investigate the relationship between the number of Triminoe cards
in a set and the largest number used in a set.
2. Investigate the relationship between the sum of all numbers on a
set of Triminoe cards and the largest number used on the cards.
PLANNING
These are some of the formulas I will be using in order to complete
the tasks:
f (n) =an+b (Linear equation)
f (n) =an2+bn+c (Quadratic equation)
f (n) =an3+bn2+cn+d (Cubic equation)
f (n) =an4+bn3+cn2+dn+e (Quartic equation)
METHOD
1. First I am going to the number 0 and find out how much different
possibilities I can make with the one number, this is obviously one.
2. I will then try two numbers 0 and 1 and find out how much different
[8.3] In what ways do you think your results would have been different if you had sampled at a different height on the rock?
5. A second test tube was then filled with water and placed in a test
5. I had to stay after school for an hour in order for Mrs. Logue to elucidate on genetics.
8. Repeat from step 4 twice more so you end up with three results for
In the short story "Mericans" by Sandra Cisneros, we appear to be reading about a small place in Mexico. The author uses many details in the story for us to visualize the cultural environment. The mix of Spanish words in the story such as, La Virgen de Guadalupe and la ofrenda give the sense of a different culture. The use of the awful grandmother kneeling at mass makes you visualize a specific heritage and cultural behavior. The word "barbarian" that the grandmother uses to describe the birthplace of the children, also points out cultural differences. It seems the author is trying to make us sense a native culture, and not to make assumptions based on physical characters.
Squanto Squanto is a Native American who lived in the early seventeenth century in what is now the Northeast United States. When the English came to this area of America to settle, they became very fond of Squanto and used him as a translator due to his unique knowledge of the English language acquired through an earlier voyage to Europe. Squanto helped the Pilgrims adapt to their new surroundings by providing them with the knowledge that he and his ancestors used to survive when they first settled in this area. He became known as a friend to the English and a spokesman for his Native friends (Johnson p.2). However, in helping the English, Squanto realized the power he had obtained through his position and used it for his own gain against the Native Americans.
Questions 5-8. Choose ONE of these constructed responses. Write the number you are responding to.
"A shape is that which limits a solid; in a word, a shape is the limit of a solid."
This stone sculpture is a naked human-like figure standing six feet tall. The body is in chiasmos stance with the left leg slightly bent and the left foot slightly behind the right. The head is turned slightly downward and to the right, and its size is approximately 1/6 of the body. The hair is cropped closely to the head with no part. The body has a defined musculature, however the forearms appear to be missing. There is an object behind and to the right of the right leg that is about 2 feet tall and 10 inches wide.
Las Meninas is considered one of the greatest paintings of all time by critics and casual admirers of art alike. It was painted during a time when Spain’s glory was declining, and Velázquez was surrounded by the remnants of a once-great court, which was now in shambles and debt. King Philip had entered depression, due to the fact that he did not have a suitable male heir to the throne and was bankrupted by the Thirty Years’ War, and paid little effort to governing his country. He had lost power, and his portrait in the mirror of Las Meninas illustrates the shadow of what Philip had once been. The center and main focus of the painting is La Infanta Margarita, Philip’s five-year-old daughter. Light streams through a window onto her face, illuminating her with a golden light. Two of her meninas, or ladies-in-waiting, are located on either side of the princess, one kneeling and offering her a glass of water with another rising from a curtsy. On the right side, the dwarf Mari-Bárbola and the midget Nicolas Pertusato stand, along with a brown dog. Behind them, a man and woman are in conversation. On the left side, a massive canvas looms over the group as Velázquez, the artist, stands behind it with his brush and palette. On the dark back wall, two paintings hang along with a mirror which reflects the countenances of the king and queen. A man stands in the doorway of a door in the back of the room, with his hand on a curtain as if he has just pulled it open. The room appears almost empty, save for the figures in it, and this emptiness is amplified by the room’s high ceiling. Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez’s masterpiece, Las Meninas, conveys a message telling of the crumbling political situation and uncertain future of Spain at the ...
5. Chose one solution and carry it out. Then ask if it has been working.
n hypothesis of the experiment is that the group containing four members will perform better than the group containing two members. This is the foundation from which we have conducted our experiment.
- The second method I will use is calculating probabilities by the use of conditional probability.
Understand that the two digits of a two-digit number represent amounts of tens and ones. Understand the following as special cases:
Present day zero is quite different from its previous forms. Many concepts have been passed down, and many have been forgotten. Zero is the only number that is neither positive of negative. It has no effect on any quantity. Zero is a number lower than one. It is considered an item that is empty. There are two common uses of zero: 1. an empty place indicator in a number system, 2. the number itself, zero. Zero exist everywhere; although it took many civilizations to establish it.
