Traumatic events in youth have increased tremendously in our culture and society today. Students at the school have been going through traumatic events, and what are teachers doing to help prevent them? Some students don't like to talk about the stuff they have gone through or seen because they are scared of the consequences or what will happen to them. Teachers should be able to notice and take action quickly.
In the United States, 26% of children experience a traumatic event before they turn 4. 15 times of people are more likely to attempt suicide if they have gone through a traumatic event (National Center for Mental Health Promotion and Youth Violence Prevention).It is important for school staff to take action. The students are the future and they shouldn't get to a point where they are contemplating suicide. Teachers impact students live more than they think. …show more content…

If a students behavior is abnormal and has been speaking negatively about themselves or others, there is a good chance that there is something going on. “You can't concentrate, you can't function. And in addition to feeling down or sad, people very often feel irritable. There are other syndromes of depression, but that's the key one (Analysis: Recognizing and treating depression in children and adults).”
