Today Americans should not have to tolerate what we did not have to tolerate some 50 years ago such as transgenders, legalization of marijuana, the attempt of banning personal handguns, and many more unreasonable circumstances because we used to be one of the best countries and don't get me wrong we still are, but we aren't what we used to be. Sure have we done some amazing things, but we have left the door open for so many horrific things to come and take over the nation. Some things that go on as of 2016 in the nation of red, white, and blue just blow my mind. Ten years ago not many people even knew what a transgender was, let alone had to deal with them all the time. Not many people thought weed, a class one narcotic would be legalized either but the country is full of surprises I guess, and also while giving obscured freedoms to those who don't need it they give the rest of us the disadvantage of not being able to carry a weapon, or at least that's what they are attempting.
Transgenders are a new uprooting issue we have recently had in the past 3 years or so. It

has led the equality for all movement for even the people that want to be a different gender and change their entire biological structure. With the events that one Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, made a few years back on changing her gender at 70 years old just sparked everything people do for the movement on transgenders. So what the world will be telling my child is that it's ok if you don't want to be your gender and that you can be the opposite and never be that gender again. Wow does that sound like something that even was brought up as a joke 50 years ago? The answer is no most definitely not. My kid will stay his gender and grow up in a religious household where there is no gender swapping or weed smoking. Now what I just listed are things legal as of now, but the law is taking away rights for handguns now. Marijuana is defined as the dried leaves and female flowers of the hemp plant, used in cigarette form as a narcotic or hallucinogen, according to dictionary.com.
A hallucinogen is becoming legal in the United States. Now the last time I recall we have never had a no smoking and driving law, so does this mean that people can smoke a hallucinogenic narcotic while driving down the interstate? The individual that made this law was not smoking weed but something else in my opinion that God knows may become legal one day. How could you possibly think that having weed legalized is smart. I mean there is no real pro to it except stoners feel “normal” and drug dealers getting more money to acquire items more horrific than just weed or any narcotic. Let illegal drugs stay illegal drugs and not have to tolerate them because this isn't going to help anyone that's wanting to be successful out at
all. Revelation 22:11 states, “let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy.” Now for anyone who is biblical or Christian will realize this comes from Revelation, a book on the end of times, as in no more world. Now in this book it talks about how the wicked will be left here to rot and the good will have everlasting life. I'm not turning this paper into a religious war but I am religious as stated previously in this paper and I am not going to tolerate some of these ridiculous new movements and the blindness of the wicked. Even to the doctors who tell you it's ok to smoke weed it helps. Well there are many doctors and these are just short term side effects of weed: sensory distortion, panic, anxiety, poor coordination of movement, lowered reaction time, after an initial “up,” the user feels sleepy or depressed, and finally Increased heartbeat which means, high chances of cardiac arrest. Yeah those sound like great side effects to me if you have a death wish. So in conclusion, there should have never been any of these things come to daylight but they did and it's a shame that they have been. Fifty years ago we had real men and women who worked hard for this nation to become great, will this nation really spiral out of control because of these new laws? I would hope not but then again these are shocking to many people around 50 years ago. It's just sad that now a kid can't go to a Target bathroom without being scared that the opposite gender will be in there but look like them. How do you explain to a 6 year old girl that the man in a dress in the bathroom is supposed to be there? You can't and there is no explanation for it actually. Just remember the brave soldiers who went to war for your country, many on more than one occasion, so that you could be free, not cause more problems.
A transgender, 25 year old woman named Avery Edison travelling from London, England was detained at Pearson Airport by Canada Border Service Agency. According to her, the reason for her detention was due to an immigration issue involving her overstaying a previous student visa. Despite being identified as a female on her passport, Avery had male genitalia. Avery tweeted that she would be assessed by a nurse before being placed in a male or female cell. However, the fact that she had male genitalia resulted in her being sent to Maplehurst, Correctional Centre in Milton, Ontario which is a prison for males where Avery stayed for one night. In the article, it is stated that Avery had concerns regarding potential sex attacks towards her in the
In January of 1919, the 18th amendment, the prohibition of alcohol, was ratified due to progressive movements. It was soon repealed in 1933, when crime increased and issues spread throughout the country. The concept of “gangsters” was established and unsafe alcohol became apart of America’s diet. This problem is now evident in this country today. Marijuana, an all natural plant that is known to get someone “high,” or to alter the state of mind, has been illegal since 1937 when the Marijuana Tax Act was put into action. But, this has caused problems throughout the country, just like the prohibition of alcohol. Making marijuana illegal has affected the social and cultural aspects of America negatively, by increasing the crime rate, making our country somewhat unhealthier, and weakening the economy.
Transgender is an umbrella term, meaning an individual’s gender-identity does not align with their assigned sex at birth. Although transgender is a protected class in eighteen states, these individuals still face discrimination within the country and around the world (“Non-Discrimination Laws”). Transgender is not a lifestyle, no one chooses to live their life constantly being discriminated against. Transgender issues should be more educated on and their lives should be more protected.
You hear so many cases people dying from accidental overdose. If marijuana becomes legal it won't fall under the Controlled Substances Act. How can marijuana not be a schedule I drugs when there are people who become addict and abuse the drug. They are supposedly evidence that marijuana can be used for medical issue. A person just takes this advantage that it does help out. They don't want to accept the bad side and accept that they are ill. Taking this drug can probably just help out few hours of relief from anything. Once a try it can become an addiction for a long time and difficult to get away from it. There are side-effect in long or short-term of using marijuana.
For most people, the idea of Transgenders is new and complicated. Because the idea is so fresh, many adults struggle with how to address this topic to the children because they lack knowledge
The legalization of marijuana is, and has been a heavily disputed issue for decades. On one hand, marijuana could lead to a medical breakthrough, or at least provide relief to cancer and AIDS patients. On the other hand, legalizing a drug could expose it to too broad an audience. As a drug, marijuana has never proven to be anywhere near as harmful as cigarettes or alcohol. Each year in the United States, 400,000 people die from tobacco, 50,000 from alcohol, and from marijuana, zero. Regardless of what side one may take to this argument, there are some causes to this marijuana debate that everyone should know. Marijuana was not always illegal, and the reasons behind the history of narcotic regulation are interesting when viewed from today's perspective. The history of marijuana prohibition is a story of racism, political repression, and poorly represents the qualities this country claims to embody.
The debate between prohibitionists and citizens who believe in the legalization of illegal drugs provide many arguments. Since there are many drugs that are illegal there are many different arguments on what should be legal and what shouldn’t. The biggest debate, and the argument that I will mostly focus on, is the reform of marijuana. Prohibitionists argue that marijuana has adverse health, safety, social, academic, economic, and behavioral consequences (Goldberg 183). Not only do they claim that it causes all of those consequences but it also can cause harm to others including family and friends (Rachels 228). The obvious argument in harming others is driving under the influence of the drug but proh...
The legalization of marijuana has been a highly debated topic for many of years. Since the first president to the most recent, our nation’s leaders have consumed the plant known as weed. With such influential figures openly using this drug why is it so frowned upon? Marijuana is considered a gateway drug, a menace to society, and mentally harmful to its consumers. For some people weed brings a sense of anxiety, dizziness, or unsettling feeling.
Gender roles are not the product of innate biology; They are formed based on the cultural and societal beliefs that surround an individual during their development. These factors play a very important role in gender identity, and often lead individuals to believe in stereotypical representations of gender identity such as gender roles. The way in which these cultures interpret the expression of gender identity heavily impacts the way an individual chooses to express themselves.
With the opinion of the American people becoming more allowing of low-level drug use, and the successful monetary generation in states like Colorado, we are now seeing viable alternatives to spending billions of dollars in failed efforts to restrict drug use, unfair imprisonment of minorities, and a dependence of drug users on violent cartels. The opinions of society is ever-changing, and this will certainly have an effect on our drug laws an policies. It is apparent that the negative stigma surrounding recreational drug use -at least with marijuana- is slowly diminishing.
For thousands of years human beings have attempted to find ways to get passed the struggles of their lives. With the pain of the world stopping people from enjoying simple pleasures, sometimes there is a need for help. Marijuana brings millions of people relief from the pain they feel on a day-to-day basis. This completely natural plant which helped so many people has puzzled the leaders of our nation for a long time. The THC in marijuana causes its users to experience a mild-huluciginic or high. The effect that marijuana has on a person has prevented the product from being legalized. Many other details about the plant, like the speculation of it being a gateway drug, have put another blockage on its legalization. Even though there are speculations about the plant, the benefit that it brings to the table most definitely out way its disadvantages. Marijuana can also alleviate several symptoms associated with cancer and Aids treatments and disorders. While Marijuana is effective as a medicine, it is also extremely lucrative. The economic benefits that Marijuana brings to the table are endless. Upon marijuana’s legalization, the economy would experience an immediate influx. Legalization of Marijuana would also drastically reduce crime in our cities and form a more productive society through its positive uses. The benefits that marijuana brings medically and economically are considerable enough to legalize its use medically or recreational.
Marijuana is the third most common leisure drug in the United States after alcohol and tobacco. Millions of Americans smoke marijuana despite the strict laws against its use. Marijuana is less dangerous compared to tobacco or alcohol. Smoking marijuana can cause breathing problems and coughing just like cigarettes and some people get addicted after using for a while. Regulating and legalizing marijuana will bring Americas greatest cash crop under law, create economic opportunities and jobs in the formal economy as opposed to the underground market. Adopting a legally controlled market for marijuana will ensure that consumers buy the products from a safe and legal source. Marijuana has been approved in some states for medical uses to ease the effects of different health challenges. Colorado and Washington legalized m...
Society’s gender infrastructure has changed since the 1920’s and the nineteen amendment that allowed women the right to vote. Or so we thought, many of the gender expectations that were engraved into our early society still remain intact today. Women for many people still mean an immaterial, negligible, and frivolous part of our society. However, whatever the meaning of the word women one has, the same picture is always painted; that of a housewife, mother, and daughter. Women are expected to fallow the structural identity of living under her husband 's submissions. Threatening the social norm of what is accepted to be a woman in society can put in jeopardy the personal reputation of a woman, such treating her as a whore. But, what happens
Everyone in civil society has heard of the latest dispute at least once in the past few months – is homosexuality really a choice, or is it just the product of many genetic and hormonal differences? Some argue that homosexuality is a combination of both, but the scientific aspect argues that it is solely based on biological differences. Whether or not homosexuality is exclusively one or the other, the topic itself has caused a ripple of social unease and activist movements.
There are multiple definitions of identity, more theorists have intense debates of what is the real basis of describing it. One of those is Judith Butler who belies that identity is ontological fiction and defined sex as performativity (Hekman,2000). To classify, identity starts by defining sex and gender, which are both formations of identifying a person. Additionally, Sex was acquired from birth with “biological and physiological characteristics that define men and women” (World Health Organization, 2016). For example, male and female have different reproductive organs on the emphasis that women give birth and men do not. Moreover, the impression of having different features, man or woman comes with the completion of gestures, roles and
