Response Journal 1. The the story of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is about Tom Sawyer and his friends. Tom Sawyer lives with his stern Aunt Polly, cousin Mary, and half-brother Sid. Tom Sawyer loves to skip school and he intelligently persuade his friends to give his small treasures in exchange for the privilege of doing his work. Tom and his best friend Huckleberry Finn run away to an island and enjoy their freedom. Soon they return back home because they realize that people actually miss them. After Summer started the two boys started to look for treasure in haunted houses.

It shows that Tom is no longer a disobedient child. Now the people of the old people of the village loved him as a teacher loves the teacher pet. The young envied him for being that famous. The people of the village joke he might get hanged by bad people. Some people in the town believe he might become the President of the United States.
