Title-Holder Island is an island based off of pageantry. It’s located west of Azores Island at 30°N, 30°W. Since it’s location on the map is further up north, it has a mix of seasons such as humid summers and snowy winters. Title-Holder Island contains many physical features including the Atlantic Ocean, Rhinestone Mountain, Runway River, six Crown Peninsulas, Pageant Pond, Platform Plateau, Reign Forest, and Royal Falls. It also has other detailed features, for example, rocky terrains, bumpy roads, and jagged mountaintops Where I live shapes the way the islanders live for several reasons. Title-Holder has an abundant amount of mountains and our roads are built around them, as well as other forms of transportation such as trains and their
tracks. For the people who live closer to the ocean it feels colder for them while the people who live more in the center of the island experience a warmer temperature. Finally, the rocky terrains on the mountains make it difficult for houses to be built on. The way we have adapted to our island has become a pattern. One example is that because of its location and the way it changes from higher to lower temperatures we have to plan and prepare our clothing, activities, driving skills and more. In addition we also are limited to our harvesting time considering the season changes. Lastly, because of the colder temperatures, we use our lumber for woodstoves and other ways to heat our homes.
The island is about 4 square miles and is today a place for tourism in the great lakes. Many thousands of years ago though this was a little piece of land with bluffs reaching high above its surroundings and was a merely a small piece of land surrounded by water. It was because of these bluffs the appearance of the island resembled a turtle and led to it being named “The Great Turtle” (Piljac, 1998). Currently the island reaches several hundred feet above the lake and it’s because of this geography that many nations saw this as a perfect military post and would be used over and over again throughout its history as such.
...work else where especially during the boom in Upper Canada, living off as little as possible so they could provide for their families back home. This additional income and fewer amount of mouths to feed was a great benefit of having larger families back in the day. This was only up until the depression when out-migration became static as the islanders children began to return home with the lack of jobs across Canada. Population drastically increased throughout the thirties as more and more children returned home. This brought joy but also hardship as well to the families as they were forced to rely on only income generated from the harvest they could procure. To this day, the islands population continues to increase as more people flock to the province for its lust landscapes and sandy red beaches.
A small archipelago off the northwest coast of Britsh Columbia is known as the “islands of the people.” This island is diverse in both land and sea environment. From the 1700’s when the first ship sailed off its coast and a captain logged about the existence, slow attentiveness was given to the island. Its abundance, in both natural resources physical environment, and its allure in the concealed Haida peoples, beckoned settlers to come to the island. Settlers would spark an era of prosperity and catastrophe for the native and environmental populations.
The New England, Middle and Southern colonies were all English ruled, but yet very different. Among their distinctions, was the geography which played an important role in shaping these colonies. New England attracted Puritan farmers who wanted to separate from the Catholic Church. But because of the bone dry soil in the North, these colonists found they couldn't continue with their traditional ways of farming. However, with the immense amounts of water that surrounded them, they found that they could fish and trade. The Middle colonies on the other, hand had a moderate amount of everything. The fertile soil and the major seaports such as Philadelphia and New York, allowed these Middle colonists to make a living any way they saw fit. This led to the brisk development of the Middle Seaboard . Unlike the Middle and Northern colonies, the Southern colonies had large amounts of fertile land allowing for the development of large plantations. Because farming the plantations was the economic thrust for the South, towns and cities developed slowly. Thusly Geography greatly affected the lifestyles of these regions in the New World.
In conclusion, the different lifestyles of the New England and Chesapeake regions led to contrasting societies of people who came from the same country. Distinct circumstances like economical, political, and social differences caused each region to grow into their own
In the colonization of Turtle Island (North America), the United States government policy set out to eliminate the Indigenous populations; in essence to “destroy all things Indian”.2 Indigenous Nations were to relocate to unknown lands and forced into an assimilation of the white man 's view of the world. The early American settlers were detrimental, and their process became exterminatory.3 Colonization exemplified by violent confrontations, deliberate massacres, and in some cases, total annihilations of a People.4 The culture of conquest was developed and practiced by Europeans well before they landed on Turtle Island and was perfected well before the fifteenth century.5 Taking land and imposing values and ways of life on the social landscape

"The Long Island Sound is a national treasure, to be prized for its beauty, abundant and diverse resources, and recreational and commercial opportunities" (Long Island Sound Study). It is true that for many of the residents of the area the Long Island Sound is a source of inspiration and renewal. The Sound is widely believed to be the most substantial natural component adding to the beauty of the entire island. The Long Island Sound provides more then just beautiful scenery, but crucial natural elements that aide both human and animal residents. Catalina is a unique place since it has developed infrastructure and have resources to exploit that enable people to live in it. This unique characteristic attracts many people every year to enjoy different ranges of activities. Tourism is the only industry that Catalina has to the economy to fluctuate (“Visit Catalina Island.” 2014). Since the only income for Catalina Island has historically been tourism, the market has been exploited to be able to sustain the towns and enable further development. Both of the towns depend on tourism to survive, however this does not mean that they are similar. According to 2010 Census of Bureau the approximate population of Catalina was 4,096. Avalon had a population of 3,569 and the rest of the population is, Two Harbors and the Catalina Island Conservancy (337.37 km2), 527 (U.S. Census, 2011; “Visit Catalina Island,” 2014). As it can be observe, the amount of resident from each town is significantly different, and the major concentration is in Avalon. Who, how, and why the colonies were settled made a big variations in the lifestyles among the three different regions. These differences became more pronounced when it came time to create a government that would include these people with different beliefs and ways of living.
The history of the land-grant colleges and how these colleges were established in the United States of America is very interesting. After I reviewed many historical resources, I found that the increase of population after the Civil War who needed education to improve their standard of living was a huge issue. It has had an impact on the modern land-grant university. The increase of population was a result of giving the slaves their freedom in some states. In my point of view, I believe that inequality between all the citizen was the most important issue in the history of Land-grant University. The purpose of this paper is to provide brief historical context about the equality of all citizens and explain how they got the same rights
