Tidal Power
My name is Yong Sha, and my term paper topic is tidal power. In my paper,I will write the definition of tidal power, the application of tidal power, the history that tidal power used in various countries, the advantages and disadvantages of tidal power and finally I want to introduce the prosect of tidal power.
First, tidal power is the fluctuation phenomenon in the bay or tidal estuary, sea or river can be seen twice in a day, known as tide in the morning, and called Xi at night. Tides as a natural phenomenon, human navigation, fishing and salt production provided for convenience. This phenomenon is mainly composed of the moon, tidal force and effect of the Earth's rotation caused by the sun. At high tide, a lot of water avalanche, with great momentum; Meanwhile, the water level gradually increased, the kinetic energy into potential energy. Low tide, the sea Pentium and go, the water level gradually decreased, and the potential energy into kinetic energy. Seawater in motion has kinetic and potential energy referred to as tidal energy. Tides is a great reserves, inexhaustible, no mining and transport, clean non-polluting, renewable energy. Construction of tidal power, no migration, no submerged land, no environmental pollution, tidal power can also be combined with the development of reclamation and utilization projects aquatic farming and marine chemicals.
Second, the main application of the tidal energy is tidal power. Tidal power is similar to the general principles of hydroelectric power through the reservoir, at high tide stores the sea water.
In the reservoir to stored in the form of the potential energy, and then release the water at low tide, the use of high and low tide level gap between the rotating t...

...ment . Precisely because of these reasons tidal power has much world attention .
Suitable for the construction of the world 's 20 tidal power in several places , both in the research, design and construction of tidal power . These include: Alaska 's Cook Inlet , Bay of Fundy , Canada , the United Kingdom Severn estuary , Argentina San Jose Bay, Darwin, Australia, Van Diemen Gulf , India Cambay estuary , the Russian Far East Sea of Okhotsk Pinren Bay, South Korea Incheon Bay and other places. With technological progress, the lower cost of tidal power in the 21st century than before , it will continue to be built using large modern tidal power .
In conclusion, tidal power do more good than harm, it is a good news that human can make full use of tidal power. It can not only bring benefits to us, but also improve the environment around us. So, why not enjoy doing it.
On average a given spot will experience two high tide and two low tides in a day. The tides are experienced due to the moon gravitational pull. The low tides are experienced when we are facing 90 and 180 degrees away from the moon. Then the high tides are found when we are facing the moon and when we are facing away from the moon.
approximately tides and not at high or low water as would be the case at other
Carson has written this essay to provide insight about the tide currents of the deep waters. She also raises insight awareness on planetary forces and physical dimensions. Carson’s main focus consists on informing the readers about the size, timing, and occurrences the tides correlated with. Statistics and studies are given to further elaborate and assist Rachel’s theory that states “In every country the moon keeps ever the rule of alliance with the sea which-it once for all has agreed upon." From the tone of the essay, it can be seen that the theme contains educational content that has significant importance to the global being.
The Sun’s radiation heats the upper atmosphere, sending the energy toward the earth’s surface and finally mixes with the planet’s counter-rotational currents, creating jetstream flows. The winds flow over the ocean’s surface creating friction that spawns chops, pushing up the seas forming perfect bands of open ocean swell. Pushed on by gravitational forces, the swells speed away from the winds that they came from, moving across the deeps until they feel the drag of the shallows near the coast. As the swells rise up out of themselves, they peak, curling into the liquid dreams that we surfers ride (Kampton 4).
Nuclear power is a growing source of energy to most of the world for many benefits. People doubt the significant of nuclear power because of one accident. Due to this accident, the world has only seen the flaws in nuclear power and not the many benefits it has to offer. Nuclear power would benefit worldwide if people would let go of the past and look towards the future. Nuclear power is a better alternative energy because of its economic and environmental benefits.
Just as long as wind continues to blow and the sun shines, then wind power can produce energy to send to many different areas. There aren’t many locations that have continuous wind. And because of that, the widespread development of wind power isn’t as great as it could be. Although there are more advantages than disadvantages when it comes to this energy source, the disadvantages should be taken just as seriously. Wind power can harm animals, there was a study that stated birds were coming in contact with turbines and dying.
Next, hydro-electricity is electricity produced by moving water, flowing past a turbine connected to a generator (“Hydropower”). According to Nationalgeographic.c...
The United States currently relies heavily on coal, oil, and natural gas for its energy. While the price of natural gas per barrel continues to plummet, the United States is constantly seeking new sources of renewable energy. Renewable energy consists of any type of natural resource (solar power, ocean power, wind power, rain, snow, etc.) that naturally and automatically replenishes itself. Renewable energy is important because it is infinite and everlasting, meaning our children and our children’s children will be able to utilize these resources long after we are gone. I believe the only way the United States and the world will see a large-scale transition to renewable energy sources is through education. Right now, it seems as though only a few pockets of people throughout the world are aware of the positive benefits of renewable energy sources. Not only is it better and cleaner for our environment, but the industry of renewable energy could also
The first type of renewable energy is hydroelectric energy or well known as hydropower. In greek word, hydro means water and thus hydroelectric energy refers to electricity generated using flowing water at high velocity. Lutgens and Tarbuck (1992, p. 163) stated that “running water is of great importance to people as we depend upon rivers for energy, travel and irrigation”. Continuous availability of water in universe made water to be the main source of hydroelectric energy. Water has been widely utilized by mankind since the beginning of civilization and wate...
Offshore wind turbines will provide more jobs, cut pollution, stop warming on our planet, and save us energy costs. These wind turbines can generate enough energy offshore to power about 500,000 homes. However, many people disagree with this idea because they believe it is too expensive. Offshore wind turbines have been a topic of discussion for a while now, and people just simply can’t agree. There are the supporters and there are the problem makers, as well as the advantages and disadvantages to this idea.
Impoundment is the most common type of hydroelectric power plant. In an impoundment facility, a large hydropower system uses a dam to store river water in a reservoir. When water is released from this reservoir it flows through a turbine, spinning it, and then activating a generator which conver...
Tides are common features of the ocean. Tides occur when large bodies water rise and fall, because of the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun. Spring tides are especially strong tides; in spite of the name they have nothing to do with the season spring. They occur when the Earth, the sun, and the moon are in a line. Spring tides occur during the full moon and the new moon. Neap tides are especially weak tides. They occur when the gravitational forces of the moon and the sun are perpendicular to one another. When water moves from side to side, it is called a current. Currents move warm and cold water to different parts of the ocean.
The impoundment facility is the most seen type of hydropower plant. This facility is a large hydropower system that uses a dam to store water in a reservoir. The water that is released from this reservoir then flows through a turbine, which causes it to spin, activating a generator to create electricity.
Although renewable energy can be expensive to build, it has less environmental damages in comparison to non-renewable energy. Besides the natural resources such as sun, wind, water and hydrogen, we also have geothermal power, and biofuels as renewable sources. First of all, solar energy is the energy produced when the sun heats the solar panel. Thus, when the sun heat the panels, it produces electricity. Solar power produces energy during the day and can storage energy for the night. Solar power does not pollute so much the environment. However, it has high maintenance cost, and it takes a large land space. Secondly, 15% of World electricity comes from wind. In order to have wind energy, it is important to have turbines to get the wind in order to produce electricity. Tall turbines produce more energy. The drawbacks of wind power are that it requires steady wind and its installations may interfere with TVs, cellphones, and other electrical devices. However, it is quickly built and there is no pollution nor noise produced. Third of all, the water falls in the dam can also generate electricity. For instance, 19% of world electricity comes from water. Regardless of the fact that hydroelectric power has low maintenance costs and does not pollute the environment, it can cause earthquakes, and destroy wild rivers. Only 0.3% of world energy
The wind is an incredibly valuable renewable energy source and is in the forefront of renewable energy developments. It is used to convert wind energy into energy that can be harnessed and used via a variety of methods, including; wind turbines, windmills, sails and windpumps. For a renewable energy source, however, it is wind turbines that are used to generate electricity (see figure 1). Wind power has been used for this since the end of the nineteenth century, after Professor James Blyth of the Royal College of Science and Technology first attempted it (Boyle, 2012). However, It wasn’t until the 1980s that using wind power technology was sufficient enough to experience a rapid growth of the technology.
